Per Drudge:
“McCain announces on Letterman tonight he is running for President,
says source that sat through the taping… He was sitting in the chair when
he told Dave and the audience. He was wildly applauded…. MORE… “
Thanks to bijiluvr for the tip.

This is a good move for McCain, but I don’t think this will save his campaign from implosion.
He just doesn’t have that cool factor.

LJ,
That’s ok. I think you should repost it. The video is worth seeing.
EDIT: Cool… I thought you took it down for a second. My bad.-KWN

Why cant Sen. McCain get it thru his head that he is NOT going to attract rank and file GOP primary voters by making his announcement on the LETTERMAN show….
he OUGHT to know by now how much distrust there is among conservatives and republicans with the MSM… and yet he continues to pander to them…

McCain isn’t using Letterman to attract voters. He’s using a media outlet which consistently attracts millions of viewers, particularly younger viewers, every night, and one which will be seen many more times tomorrow when the clip is repeated on other news sources. The fact is ever since Clinton’s appearance on Arsinio Hall we’ve been in an age where the old formats of political announcements no longer work. This isn’t pandering to anyone. By appearing on Letterman the Senator will reach millions of people at one time, and millions more tomorrow - many more than if he made his announcement at a political rally. On a personal note, I’m a Conservative who distrusts the MSM but still regularly watches Letterman and Conan and even MTV when the mood strikes me. Distrust doesn’t mean never watching.
