The Last SC Straw Poll Post Ever

The merits of these polls have been discussed, debated, trashed, and otherwise beaten into the ground here at R4′08. But I would be remiss if I at least didn’t inform you that this stage in the campaign is now officially over. Lexington County held their straw poll last night (Romney won, McCain came in second and Giuliani third), and it was the very last one in the state. And there was much rejoicing.

So I will throw up the combined totals from every straw poll from across the state, and you can do whatever you’d like with them. Cheer. Boo. Mock. Gloat. Print them off and use them as toilet paper. We don’t care. I just report the facts, and you figure it out from there.

SC State-wide Straw Poll Results
Romney – 33.4%
McCain – 14.2%
Hunter – 11.8%
Giuliani – 11.7%
Huckabee – 9.7%
Brownback – 5.7%
F Thompson – 4.8%
Gingrich – 3.4%
Cox – 3.1%
Tancredo – 0.5%
T Thompson – 0.4%
Paul – 0.4%
Gilmore – 0.1%

All in all, I’d say fairly reasonable. Let’s see what the scientific polls say now.

    Boo! Mock Boo!
    John Cox for VP!

    Just kidding

  2. Tommy Says:

Only problem I have with us using straw polls is that there have been lots that we haven’t reported here that have many different results through other states. But that’s ok, they’re irrelevent.

  3. jake Says:

Hey HeavyM. . .Just out of curiosity, any idea how many people voted in all these straw polls?

  4. HeavyM Says:

jake, it’s almost 2,000 people when all the numbers are added up, from 17 different straw polls that we have results for.

  5. Matt-A Says:

Another win for Romney. It looks like Romney has scored extremely well in the S.C. straw polls. Now I am looking forward the debates. This is where I believe Romney will really shine.

  6. David Ensley Says:

I doubt this demonstrates that Romney has 30% support in SC, but it does show that he is developing a good combination of organization and popular support. You can’t pay people to vote in a straw pole if no one supports you in the first place. With McCain’s strong organization in SC, I would have expected him to do a little better, also.

  7. Michael "A.J. Sparxx" Illions Says:

Print them off and use them as toilet paper.

Don’t tell Sheryl Crow about that !!

  8. HeavyM Says:

Michael (#7): ROFL! Thanks for a great laugh. :)

  9. Henry Heavner Says:

Everybody knows that Romney threatened to kneecap the cute, adorable children of the attendees unless they voted fro him.
