  1. KT Says:

This is a poll of ALL AMERICANS:

    http://flapsblog.com/?p=4993

  2. TM Says:

    Good point KT,

Even Ron Paul has won several on line polls.

  3. econ grad stud Says:

KT, this poll is of Americans who are online. That’s a lot less than all of them.

  4. KT Says:

EGS, the link I posted is to a poll of all Americans – - as opposed to just conservatives. Thanks anyway.

  5. BarkTwiggs Says:

More like a census of a self-selective vocal minority. ;)

Ron Paul supporters have everything backwards. Gaming polls does not gain support, but creates backlash. If they really believed in their candidate, they would donate more money for him to spend on advertising. And maybe he could hire an actual pollster to do research and polls in favorable states. But that would make too much sense.

  6. Nusrat Says:

RP Supporters just raised $1,000 in two hours the other night.

Believe me, there is a grassroots campaign, and it is strong.

  7. KT Says:

yes, I heard about that too. He had 1,000 volunteers doing it ;-) j/k

  8. Nusrat Says:

This campaign has a lot of parallels to 1964.

    Rudy Giuliani = Nelson Rockefeller
    Mitt Romney = George Romney
    John McCain = William Scranton

And so far, Ron Paul seems to be the Goldwater…although I doubt his campaign will turn out as favorably, but both relied on grassroots, and both are champions of small government.

  9. David B Says:

    Rudy is no Nelson Rockefeller.

Rockefeller stood for the status quo welfare state.

Rudy is for tax-cutting, supply-side economics, privatization. He is a modern economic conservative. He is Goldwater.

  10. KT Says:

    My take:

Mitt Romney = John Lindsay (you dont know what the heck he really believes)

    John McCain = Pete Wilson

Rudy Giuliani = Truman, Roosevelt(T) and Ike.

  11. David B Says:

KT, yeah, I wasn’t addressing Rudy on the War… which is particularly relevant.

  12. David B Says:

Club for Growth was established to kick Rockefeller Republicans out of the GOP and replace them with supply-siders. Club for Growth has given its strongest reports to Rudy and to Brownback. I’d say Rudy’s is stronger since he was an executive and got the job done, while Brownback is a Senator and is, frankly, unelectable.

  13. Nusrat Says:

    But supply-siders aren’t small-government conservatives.

  14. David B Says:

Umm… yes they are. Kudlow, Moore, etc.

  15. Nusrat Says:

Supply siders tend to have no problem with amassing a massive debt. Supply side dictates nothing about government spending whatsoever, which is my problem with the economics behind it.

One can be a Bush-style “conservative” who spends like a liberal and still be within the realm of supply-side economics.

  16. David B Says:

Yes, but they are libertarians at heart and PREFER limited government. All the authors/thinkers that shaped their work were limited governmenters.

  17. David B Says:

In either case, the comparison between Giuliani and Rockefeller is way off base.

The economic conservative movement was designed to PURGE the Rockefellers from the GOP. Rudy’s on the other side of that war. The Rockefeller camp is Specter, Pataki, Chafee, the Maine girls, etc.

  18. Nusrat Says:

But I hate to say it, but the government is not going to get smaller under a Giuliani administration. In fact, it will probably get bigger…:(

  19. KT Says:

Rudy is NO Nelson Rockefeller because ROCKEFELLER WAS A LIBERAL. There you go my friends…….

  20. econ grad stud Says:

I’m feeling for you Rudy supporters from the tiny libertarian community. You guys just don’t feel comfortable in the Republican Party with its social conservatives and religious folks. That’s kind of Rudy’s dilemma too.

It’s going to be an interesting primary with all the candidates that poorly fit the Republican base.

  21. David B Says:

Nusrat: NYC payroll got a whole lot smaller under Rudy. So did welfare recipients.

He’s already pledged to not rehire half of the 42% of federal employees retiring over the next two terms. A 21% cut in government would be huge. Reagan wouldn’t begin to compare.

  22. David B Says:

EGS: Not nearly as tiny as you think.

  23. Nusrat Says:

But Rudy is the antithesis of libertarianism! I really hope libertarians don’t get behind him.

  24. David B Says:

Nusrat: Only on foreign policy, as am I. Libertarian Hawk is the term.

Think big: He’s socially moderate-liberal, and economically very conservative. Libertarians have NEVER had such an option in the GOP for President. How can you be missing that?

I understand he has a tendency toward authoritarianism. But it is largely authoritarian MEANS to achieve libertarian ENDS.

  25. Nusrat Says:

    That’s not true at all.

Patriot Act? NSA Wiretapping? Real ID? Closing down porn shops in NYC? Gun Control? Medical marijuana?

He is a big government conservative, rhetorically slamming big government except to pursue his agenda.

  26. Nusrat Says:

And his philosophy is not one of libertarianism and freedom…which I think is more important than political positions.

Philosophy should create politics, not the other way around. Your politics should directly match your worldview, and his worldview is not one of freedom and individual choice.

  27. David B Says:

Nusrat, as an Objectivist I totally agree with your last sentiment.

I support the Patriot Act, because we cannot uncover terrorist plots without it. I see no significant threats to personal liberty if it’s used for that purpose. Same with a National ID, for UNnaturalized citizens.

Porn shops is not a big deal, compared to the big issues government faces.

Gun control is simply a matter of where you draw the line between handguns and backyard nukes. SOME control is necessary.

Medical marijuana: Didn’t know his stance. Hope he comes around not a major issue.

The man is moderate-liberal on abortion, gay unions, and separating Church from State. Yet he’s for slashing taxes, government, and welfare.

If libertarians are thinking big, they should be cheering.

Sadly, many libertarians are more interested in porn shops and 420 than they are in making the world safe for the Hank Reardens.

  28. David B Says:

Nusrat, Also, I’ll add this. I was anti-Giuliani during and after the Milkin episode. His own philosophy changed slowly and consistently from then until now, into a better and better pro-freedom stance. Focus on the evolution, not the starting point.

  29. David B Says:

More, this is a man who could convince America to start privatizing social security. To scrap the IRS in its current state. To massively rethink government. While reducing the influence of religion in politics.

If libertarians are going to reject that on the grounds of porn shops and 420, and against tools we need to fight terrorism, then I hope I can find another term to use other than “libertarian hawk” because I don’t wish to be tainted the the word libertarian.

  30. Phil M Says:

Giuliani a libertarian? What are you, kidding? This is the guy who said “freedom is about authority.”

  31. David B Says:

Didn’t say Rudy was a Libertarian. He is by far the closest thing to it in a major party Presidential candidate that libertarians have ever had the opportunity to support.

Been meaning to research that quote. Guessing it has to do with aggressively prosecuting freedom’s enemies.

  32. Nusrat Says:

“He is by far the closest thing to it in a major party Presidential candidate that libertarians have ever had the opportunity to support.” Ron Paul?

  33. David B Says:

    Viable candidate.

  34. Tommy Says:

    New CBS/NYT Poll
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/24/opinion/polls/main2848857.shtml

  35. Tommy Says:

The poll I just linked to doesn’t base who they interview on any set criteria, according to the CBS website, so I’d be wary of it.

  36. Conservative Says:

Ron Paul won the polls after both debates, and has won a ton of other online polls.

This is the one man who actually has a record of smaller government, more freedom, and upholding the constitution. All the other candidates have compromised at one time or all the time.

  37. Dskinner Says:

Not that the internet or text messaging polls matter, but Romney won and Paul came in 2nd. Every Democrat that watched either debate voted for Paul, otherwise how could you explain his 100 supporters voting so many times.

  38. Tommy Says:

Dskinner, it’s been brought to my attention that both sides bombed the poll. It was reported that one Paul supporter voted 270 time within 75 minutes, on one poll.

  39. Dianna Says:

Ron Paul is the ONLY American running for office and it’s about time that main stream media starts listening to the American people and stop trying to blackball Ron Paul because it won’t work this time!

  40. DaveG Says:

Okay, I am now completely certain that all online polls are basically useless. In no universe does Ron Paul come in third among Republican primary voters. These poll results are basically determined by which blogs manage to link to any given poll. Throw it in the garbage.

  41. Phil M Says:

Why does everyone think Paul has 100 supporters? If that’s the case and they were all able to spam nonscientific polls so much, then where is the Gilmore brigade? Where is Duncan Hunter’s group of staunch supporters? And for that matter, if Paul’s supporters are able to coordinate efforts to come in second in a text poll, why did McCain get only 4%? I agree that online polls don’t in any way accurately measure support, but there is one thing that it does measure quite well: the enthusiasm of a candidate’s support. And as far as I can see it, no other Republican comes close to having as enthusiastic of supporters.

  42. Tommy Says:

    Phil,
You’ve got a point. Paul’s supporters are an enthusiastic bunch.

  43. J. Martin Says:

I think DaveG is right. This poll is garbage now thanks to the spamming Ron Paul nuts. He’s gone from 110 (5%) on First Choice to 677 (15.1%). Now he’s ahead of Rudy for crying out load! And I think they’re voting unacceptable on every candidate other than Ron Paul. How else could you explain Rudy being at only +1.8%? Get a life you people.

  44. J. Martin Says:

Whoops. I meant loud not load. And Rudy’s at 0.6% now.

  45. Phil M Says:

    J. Martin: interesting how everyone examines this poll like in means anything at all until Paul starts doing well, and then suddenly it’s “garbage.”

  46. J. Martin Says:

It’s interesting that he only does “well” on internet polls but not on professional polls where people can’t vote multiple times.

  47. DaveG Says:

    Phil,

I’m just being a realist. To the average American voter, Paul is now best known for his foreign policy views, which seem to be a sort of blend of uber-isolationism and blame-America nonsense, with a number of anti-Israel sentiments thrown in for good measure. Considering that most GOP primary voters support internationalism, support an aggressive stance in the war, support Israel, and do not like to blame America for the actions of other nations, it becomes foolish to think that Ron Paul could even begin to do so well among them.

  48. Texas Conservative Says:

Wow. Who rigged this one for Paul? I don’t see how conservatives sould bring themselves to vote for a libertarian. Suspicious to say the least.

  49. Dskinner Says:

Enthusiam is the kind civil word to describe Paul’s supporters. If you ask bloggers or columnists who have a negative opinion of Paul, you will certainly get a different set of adjectives to describe them.

  50. Phil M Says:

DaveG: Ah, once again returning to Orwellian rhetoric.
Open and peaceful diplomatic relations with other countries = uber-isolationism
Critical examination of American history and foreign policy = blame America nonsense
Not wanting to fund another country’s military = anti-Israel sentiments
54% of Iowa Republicans who want to get out of Iraq in under 6 months = most GOP primary voters supporting internationalism
Wanting to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on an increasingly bad war = an aggressive stance in the war
Subsidizing another country’s military = supporting Israel
Examining historical reality supported by the 9/11 Commission, the CIA’s former Bin Laden unit head, and Paul Wolfowitz himself = blaming America for the actions of other nations
Doing increasingly well among average American voters = not doing well among them.

  51. Dskinner Says:

Here is a little bit of analysis about Paul’s support. At the current time, only 20 people who didn’t list Paul as their first choice find him acceptable. By comparison, 2100 people list Romney as acceptable but not their first choice.

    http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/g/daee4a40-84ee-4c50-b1bc-98604e232cc0

Here is a funny blog about Paul and his supporters by Dean Barnett over at Townhall. You really should read it, it is quite funny. Here is an excerpt of an email from a Paul supporter.

“You neocon filth. According to the viewers, the bullying would-be Mafia-don Guiliani sought
to huff-and-puff Paul’s TRUTH off the stage, but the Republcian (sic) establishment (!!!) hot air isn’t going to succeed this time.

The only thing you guys have to offer is hot air. We’ll recylce (sic) all you idiotic treasonous anti-american (sic) neocon (sic) filth with every election.”

  52. Tommy Says:

PROOF THAT THEY’RE TRYING TO SILENCE THE AMERICAN MAJORITY!!!!!

    They left out John Cox!!!!!

  53. Tommy Says:

Uh oh… I’m starting to get scared. Dr. Paul is almost within 1000 votes of Fast Freddie!

  54. J. Martin Says:

He’s only behind by 906 votes now! Fred’s in serious trouble! Oh, what will we do?!? Woe is me!!!

  55. Rich Says:

The truth is that Dr. Paul has been being censored while the media tells us all constantly that Rudy is the man
and its obvisous he hasn’t even read the 9/11 commission his supporters should be embaressed and no matter
what the candidate I have a real problem with the media censoring like we live in a post cold war Russia
Being the President should not be about who has the most money but who will uphold true constitional
princepals which is what made us the greatest nation in the world in the first place. Ron Paul is
the true Republican in the race, all the others are Corporate America looking for slave labor. come guys Bush and
Congress are about to let 200 million people south of the border here if they have their way.

  56. JasonJack Says:

    guys,

    http://www.gopstrawpolls.com/pollresults.php?state=&refer=race42008.com

Paul supporters read r42008…but don’t post

  57. JasonJack Says:

    Rich,

I agree with some of Paul’s ideas, but the idea of being isolationist is scary.

  58. James S. Says:

This is a response to DKskinner you had stated that Ron Paul is winning Polls because he has 100 supporters that are spamming non stop. Many polls you can only vote once, how ever this paticular website is an exception and if you ask me the only spammers are the ones giving Ron negative remarks on this site its obvious. I can assure you sir it’s more like over 50,000 supporters at least and growing at a nominal rate. 10,000 subscribers on you tube he has 2 my space pages. 30k between both of them. So to say it’s 100 people making up fake aliases is comical. He has already raised over 2 million dollars from the people of America (real money). I am a conservative myself and the big appeal I have with Ron is he is for Small government and reforming taxes. He also appeals across the world as a good leader. The way he speaks he don’t bash people and when they try and make him look bad he stands his ground like a bull dog. We had faith for so long in the Neo Cons and what have they brought us? Pump more money into the economy like a credit card will never pay off. He is a tried and true patriot in every sense of the world. We all know he won’t pass all the measures he looks to pass but the fact he has been a member of congress is going to give him a broader base of support to past legislatures than any other canidate. Thats my 2 cents I hope more Americans can find out about him even though he has had limited media support.

  59. Phil M Says:

JasonJack: Paul is not an isolationist. It is everyone else who is. Ron Paul supports strengthening economic and diplomatic ties with other countries, but doing so without sacrificing sovereignty by needlessly joining supranational organizations. All the other candidates want to ignore what other countries have to say and go about invading countries at will.

  60. Dskinner Says:

    James S,

I don’t know whether you were in a rush or what, but next time you will sound more literate and thus be more credible if you at least read back through your comment before you hit submit. Obviously it isn’t that big of a deal since all of us make mistakes when we are posting, but come on. “past legislatures”, “every sense of the world”, “he don’t bash people”, “like a credit card will never pay off”

Regardless, I am glad to see that I was able to flush out a few Paul supporters, your lengthy sometimes nonsensical diatribes are usually entertaining. Congratulations on your “enthusiasm” for Dr. Paul. I am sure that you can find many more people out there who agree with your views on things. There are a lot of nutters out there. Most are on the far left, but what would the fringe of our party be if we didn’t have a few nutters of our own. Feel free to support the fringe and loony in the primary, but I sincerely hope that in the general election all the Paul supporters will wake up and stop being 9/11 truthers, stop blaming America first and stop with the absurd extremes on originalism and the Constitution, and thus support the GOP nominee.

In the meantime, enjoy the fringe and keep fighting the neocon machine, one of these days you might get lucky in a scientific poll (it they round up) and Dr. Paul can get to 2%. Until that time I am going to assume that whenever I actually see a “1%” next to Dr. Paul’s name instead of a “–”, it is just statistical noise within the margin of error and Paul is really at 0% when rounded correctly.

  61. Dskinner Says:

oops. The last paragraph should read “if they round up”, not “it”.

  62. J. Martin Says:

    Well said, Dskinner! :)

  63. Citizen Joe Says:

I have never voted for a Republican or Democrat is my entire life because both parties have proven themselves unworthy of any votes. Both parties have colluded to deny other voices and political parties to rise and challenge the globalists within our government. I have been waiting for the winds of revolution to sweep across our nation and I think everyone has been waiting as well.

I see only one true American running for president. His name is Ron Paul. I haven’t seen any polls that doesn’t have Ron Paul winning this election by a tremendous LANDSLIDE!!!!

The time has come for the Republican and Democratic parties to face reality. The citizens have awakened and we are not taking it anymore!!! There is change coming… and the American spirit will rise up from it’s slumber and purge the multi-nationist traitors out of our government forever. The truth can never be stopped and justice will be served!!!

  64. Citizen Joe Says:

    JasonJack,

Ron Paul is no isolationist? He saying we need to step back a bit (i.e. shut down some of the 700 military bases around the world) and hold on to our constitutional roots or this country is doomed. Don’t you think multi-national corporations running our entire government is even more frightening? It is the very definition of fascism that Mussolini had defined.

They are building prison camps all over America for God’s sake. Don’t you worry about who they are intended for?

Ron Paul is a the most honest and patriotic candidate that we have seen in a long time. I will vote for hime because he’s not Republican or Democrat to me. He is a true American who cares about our future.

  65. J. Martin Says:

I really hope that Matt Margolis or whoever it was that decided to let Ron Paul on the poll learns their lesson. I don’t know for sure if people are voting multiple times, but I do know this much: Ron Paul is attracting nuts such as Citizen Joe, who aren’t representative of our party and who probably won’t even be voting in our primaries, to vote in our internet polls and skew the results. Ron Paul needs to be left off next time, or else this will keep happening.

  66. Citizen Joe Says:

    Dskinner,

9/11 truth activists don’t blame America first. That’s a load of crap an you know it. We love our country!! And we are defending it with honor! Talking points don’t wash here anymore brother. We blame the murders who commited the crimes. Why do you think the 9/11 movement is growing so quickly here and around the world? It’s because the evidence is leading in the complete opposite direction of the government accounts. You obviously don’t care enough to research for yourself.

Any American who takes the time to truly research the events of that day will be convinced that there are, at the very least, many unanswered questions regarding the murder of more than 3,000 of our fellow citizens. Then you will start to ask the questions that any prudent man must ask. My friend they will lead you in the only direction it can possibly lead… the truth. You have to approach this as a crime. Determine who had the motive, means, and the oppurtunity to commit these acts. Then you will realize 9/11 was a coup involving criminals who are holding office and there corporate masters.

    MOTIVE….

    1. Full destruction of our Constitution and our Republican form of government in order to establish military rule (ie. Patriot Act, Military Commisions Act, and the lastest Continuity of Government directive Bush has signed in which the President has declared himself a dictator in case of an emergency or disaster or “other things”)

    2. Gain support for war by creating an ememy and using fear (look up the word terrosim) to invade oil rich countries. Reap billions in contracts for the military industrial complex and the multi-nationist corporations. (Haliburton, Blackwater, Carlyle Group)

    3. Create a fear of Muslims in order to gain support of their gencide. Yes, genicide. 600,000 and counting all based on his lie… or do you deny the President was going to do whatever it took to go and take out Iraq (have you heard of the Downing Street Memos) Read them and the president is exposed as commiting treason by conspiring to paint a plane with UN colors and fly it over Iraq in hopes they would shoot them down. Then he would have an excuse to invade. Now that we realize he lied about the WMD’s, doesn’t the memo indicate treason to you? If he was willing to start this war for profit… why would he not be capable of 9/11?

    MEANS AND OPPURTUNITY…

A few months prior to 9/11. Bush declared that NORAD air defense would be in the control of the Vice President. This have never been done before. Now look up Norman Mineta and the video of his sworn testimony before the 9/11 Commission. He said that he was with Cheney in a bunker under the White House and that Cheney basically knew a plane was heading staight for Washington and did nothing to stop it. “Do the other still stand Mr. Vice President?”

A company in charge of electronic security at the Trade Center and Dulles Airport (where war games were scheduled involving hijacked planes at the exact same time as the attacks…search USA Today) was named Securicom now called Statesec.

The people running Securicom where Marvin Bush (George’s brother and Dirt D. Walker III. his cousin). A man who worked in the towers for a financial group was quoted in People magazine saying that there were power downs at the Trade Centers in the weeks prior to 9/11 and bomb sniffing dogs where also removed. Plenty of time to set the explosives and thermite incindiaries.

These are but a few strange facts that you might want to look up before you simply dimiss 9/11 truthers as you call us.. By the way, can you explain how 3 steel framed buildings all fell at the freefall speeds which indicates no resistance from the underlying floors and steel load baring collumns? If you can redefine the rules of gravity as the “official” story seem to try to do then you might have a leg to stand on.

Wake up and smell the tyranny.

  67. Citizen Joe Says:

    J. Martin,

You are suffering from an extreme case of denial sir. So, let me get this straight. You are obviously ok with ONE person deciding who we get to hear in the Presidential debates? That’s very American of you. What are you so afraid of?

  68. J. Martin Says:

What in the world are you talking about, dude? I didn’t say anything about the debates.

  69. Matt Says:

Look, I’m a Ron Paul supporter and I vote once in every poll. The fact that he has a huge number of online supporters that vote for him is in no way dishonest. It just means he has a larger presence on the internet than the other candidates. People are excited about this guy. You can’t very well ask them not to vote for their preferred candidate and censoring them just creates animosity. Obviously the polls differ from mainstream ones but they accurately reflect the internet demographic. Out of both Democrat and Republican candidates Ron Paul is currently number one on YouTube, number one on MySpace, number one on Technorati, number one on Wikipedia, and I believe he’s still number one in homepage hits. This is not the work of a few fanatics.

  70. Citizen Joe Says:

Why do you want to exclude Paul from the polls? Aren’t the the polls that these very groups use what determines who is allowed in the debates? They indicate who people want to see in the debates right? The people on both sides of the isle and those of us who are in the middle are enthralled by his words because he has the courage to tell the plain and simple truth. That’s what we need now more than ever.

Why would you want to shut him down. Are you denying the roots and ideology the Republican party was built upon. If you are pro Neo-Con, then I question your judgement. Patriotism isn’t always about being a team player for the sake of being a team player. Especially when those who run the team are acting against your own peronsal interests. But you probably own stocks in the very companies who are profiting from the wars they start and the manipulation of the oil industries.

Or do you want to exclude Ron Paul from these polls because some of us who support him realize the establishment is working against the interest of our nation and are now speaking up?

The people, in mass, are begining to understand what’s going on geo-politically terms. That our government has acted outside the authority granted to them by us, the soveriegn citizenry and has engaged in illegal acts of aggression and destabilization of countries using terrorist tactics and coercion to restrict the freedoms we have. Do you want your future generation to live in the world the Neo-Cons want to create?

  71. Dskinner Says:

    Cave Dwelling Moonbat,

I never thought I would say this, but after your eloquent and compelling argument, I almost believe that President Bush coordinated a massive attack on US Citizens invovling 100s if not 1000s of co-conspirators and managed to destroy all evidence of the attacks while at the same time assuring that nobody came forward to confess.

What is even more amazing is that he apparently managed to trick Bin Laden and other terrorists into attacking multiple targets like the WTC in 1993, the USS Cole and others, all before he became president, just so his “secret inside job attack” on 9/11 would be more credible. Somehow he also tricked the rest of the world’s inteligence agencies into believing the same thing and he got Al Qaeda to attack many more targets after 9/11. I had no idea Bush was so smart and powerful, but you’ve convinced me. Now I recognize that Bush’s buffoonery and his illogical tounge-tied ramblings are all just part of the elaborate plan.

All you need to do to convince me completely about your 9/11 truther theory is to show me the evidence that JFK and MLK Jr. were assasinated by the CIA in order to prop up the “military industrial complex”.

I mean I never really believed the 1000s of engineering experts or the people at Popular Mechanics who irrefutably proved your theory wrong. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html
I always thought that somehow they must be controlling my mind, because nobody could have so many hard facts to prove to me that the terrorists and the planes brought down the towers and not that evil traitorous filthy neocon, George Bush.

You have almost pushed all reason and sanity from my mind and forced me to agree with you. If you can just tell me the truth about how they did this to JFK, I will be ready to become a full fledged moonbat and you can beam me up to the mothership.

P.S. – If you don’t give me that information soon I think they will find me and take back over my mind. I can feel the “multi-nationalist corporations” closing in already.

  72. Citizen Joe Says:

And for the record.. I only voted once for this poll. Some of us “tinfoil hat wearing, conspiracy nuts” do have honor and respect for opinion polls.

    Fred Thompson people?

Come on you got to be kidding. Right?

As Trump would say, “YOUR ALL FIRED!!!

  73. Citizen Joe Says:

    lol

  74. Citizen Joe Says:

All of a sudden my postings are not allowed… Truth hurts sometimes….good night and good luck!

  75. RC Says:

Well, the results show some very interesting ideas. Not that they are done, but…

It’s obvious little Paul’s supporters click “negative” for everyone, then just click little Paul as first choice. He should be excluded, he wants figuratively no government. He was born after his time, we live in a completely different situation than what the “Founding Fathers” had in their hands. And Joe, put your bong down and get the conspiracy theories out of your Paul-filter. Seriously, lay off the weed man. Resist the delusions and psychosis that is going on in your head. If the debates included a legitimate poll-based decision (polls that aren’t affected by those seeking to participate in polls) of who is up, little Paul is out. It’s easy to play these polls, even I, with only several years programming/web development experience, can make any poll as I wish. However, IMO, it would disrespectful to whom I support to flood invalidity around. I hate the fact they wish to tell us how the Republican party should be, combing the friends/supporters of other candidates looking for ignorant people to believe in them, rather than having someone who represents the people. Anyways, enough with little Paul.

It shows the relative “netroots” support strength to the candidates. Of those who pick a candidate as first choice, the respective acceptable/unacceptable of other candidates is rather telling too. I’m happy with what I see, despite the inclusion of the whims of children with too much time on their hands. I’ll rant again here sometime. Have fun!

    I think you meant this:

    Romney= Enron Executives
    McCain= Judas
Giuliani= Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson or George Washington.

  77. vonDietrich Says:

Ron Paul is THE only candidate…based on the research of my friends and I!!!

  78. Curt Sigler Says:

Rudy is a one trick pony, 911. And considering he has a mask on in every pic around ground zero and they are now saying that the dust was dangerous and the BUSH, EPA, GOONIANI said it was safe, seems someone should be charged with their deaths. Gooniani refued 10 million from the saudis for the vctims but takes 10’s of millions from the saudis privately in his law firm, gooniani also represents – FOXNEWS, CHAVEZ, CITGO, SAUDI ROYALS and more. When GOONIANI’S LAW FIRM CLIENTS IS FINALLY RELEASED HE IS A GONER!!! The only Reaganesque choice is Dr. Ron Paul, in fact thepresident yesterday said in his rose garden speech that the terrorists say they want us out of IRAQ, first NO THEY haven’t said that and second when Dr. Ron Paul mentioned the Terrorists and what they say he was attacked by Gooniani and Hannity the most arrogant asshole in America. Gooniani suuports the Senate AMNESTY BILL as does McCain and Romney. You choose America, the corprate boys who serve the elite, the corporations and the Mexicans or Choose Dr. Paul, a MAN FOR THE PEOPLE. Let me say this in closing, if Dr. Ron Paul is not the Republican candidate for President, SAY HELLO TO PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON… Dr. Paul is the only one that can beat her.

  79. JasonJack Says:

Q: If Ron Paul claims (perhaps correctly) that our middle east prescence was why they attacked us, does he advocate pulling out od the middle east?

  80. Curt Sigler Says:

Popular Mechanics has been refuted by MIT, I know you have heard of MIT, the Mass Inst of Tech… This is not about 911 Truth movments its about WHO CAN BEAT HLLARY… WAKE UP AMERICA, GOONIANI, McCAIN AND ROMNEY ARE HILLARY IN PANTS. One more thing I voted for Ron Paul and I also Voted for Huckabee and Tom Tancredo and both Thompsons as Acceptabe, so take your tin foil hat off and get into the real debate. The Top so called 3 are THE CORPORATIONS, ELITE CHOICES FOR US why don’t you admit your’e a PAID GOP BLOGGER and not just a regular citizen like the rest of us. How much does Gooniani and assoc pay you for your support, it surely isn’t that your so dumb that you actually like him. I know this cause you can read and write, so you can’t be that stupid…

  81. Curt Sigler Says:

Ron Paul said he would pull our soldiers out of most nations they are in and stop all funding of OUR MONEY to the many many nations. He would call pakistan a terror state as well as syria and Saudi something teh top 3 won’t even try to do. You can read many of Dr. Paul’s positions on his congressiona site as well as the ronpaullibrary.org I beleieve You have o make up your minds about one other thing besides do you like Hillary in pants, ARE YOU A REAGAN REPUBLICAN?? If you are which candidate speaks like Reagan, and has always voted like Reagan? Dr. Ron Paul has 100% Reagan Recrd and Tom Tancredo is a close second other than this Patriot Act business.

  82. JasonJack Says:

    Curt,

with all due respect, if you believe George Bush was the cause of 9/11, your opinion has less meaning to me.

And, um, Reagan sent troops into Nicarauga…Iran-Contra…and that was after Reagan said we need to understand mid-east.

    Paul is not Reaganish

and there are fundamental differences between the top 3 and Hillary.

  83. Curt Sigler Says:

i said this isnt about 911 truth movements or did you skip over that part..Reagan didnt suport or prop up DICTATORS AND TYRANTS in Nicaragua he fought them, or don’t you get that? He supported the freedom FIGHTERS and that nhasn’t exploded in our faces.. Pakistan, Syria and Saudi is Gonnianis boys and those are not freedom fighters my friend they are tyrants.. To support the people against tyranny is one thing, to support tyrants over the people is another, now maybe instead of talking about 911 you can talk about goonianis record? I know who is here tryng to link RonPaul to that movement and it IS NOT RON PAUL SUPPORTERS. In fact YouTube has Dr. Paul’s response to that nonsense. And that was his response, it’s nonsense, he does say however that they were incompetent as does the 911 report and congressional report.

  84. JasonJack Says:

    freedom fighters…yes.

And he did it w/o congressional decleration of war.

  85. Curt Sigler Says:

One more thing, go to the reagan library site and read what Reagan said about the middle east and their politics. he said to stay out of it because it was insane and not understandable.

  86. Curt Sigler Says:

He did it against the law actually, that is why some went to jail. When it ame to the middle east after the bombing in beirut he left, he nly used missiles after that like the Libya bombngs. He refused to put our boys in the middle of that middle east mess after beirut. THOSE PEOPLE ARE UTS and COMMON SENSE DON’T APPLY…

  87. Curt Sigler Says:

This isn’t about Iraqto em either, it is about America and our borders, our jobs, our currency and our standing in th world. Several had good and correct Ideas about Iraq. Saddam is gone no let them fight their civil war and they will go to 3 states like yugoslavia went back to 5. Putting our people in between those crazy ass people over there is nuts. Let them be and make sure that we inform the neighbors, Iran, Syria to stay out or we have cruise missiles with their names on them. Let the Iraqis have their three states and let’s worry about America for a while, we are being sold out by the very people we send to represent us. The corporations own most of them and they seek Open Borders, Low Wages and the depression of the American Dollar which is basically worth 4 cents today. We have lost all our manufacturing under the 2 bush’s and Clinton years and they are offering us more of the same. It’s time to become that shining city ona hill again and to do that we must FIX AMERICA not th world. This is the policy Bush ran on in 2000, not policing thee world, not nation building, it is the CONSERVTIVE VIEW and I WANT IT BACK. NO MORE CORPORATE OWNED AMERICA SELING ELITES

  88. Aristocutionor Says:

I have been a registered Republican for 38 years; I am a veteran, and a conservative.
Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that is up to the task of digging US out of a mess that has been 100+ years in the making.
The reason Ron Paul has such strong support is due his allegiance to the US Constitution, our unalienable Rights, and the sovereignty of the US as a nation.
There is no other candidate of either Party (I’m a swing voter) who’s voting record shows that he/she honors their Oath of Office to uphold the Constitution. The voting records of the others from both parties are (by definition) Acts of Treason.
I WILL NOT and nobody should vote for any candidate that supports by cowardice or complicity what amounts to a coupe d’ tat. If you don’t know or believe this, I highly suggest you better inform yourself – If you’re undecided – Vote for Ron Paul. That way you’ll still be free to vote again in the future as a Citizen of the united States of America.
Ron Paul has courage and the ONLY clean voting record. A vote for Ron Paul is a patriotic vote for your Rights and for the Sovereignty of the US.

A fair and balanced media would not deliberately try to sabotage a true American Presidential candidate, unless they were scared. The corporate owned media moguls are afraid they will no longer be able to control their politicians in this Kleptocratic government we now have,if someone with moral integrity, like Dr. Ron Paul wins. Shame on all mass-media and polls that are truly biased toward the candidate they are trying to elect!

  95. Milzi Says:

Ron Paul is my hope for my future and my daughters.
Rudy is a terrible tick sucking the lifeblood out of 911, the victims of 911, and our soldiers.
How come Rudy is an “expert” at terrorism? How come is he a national hero? Why are the families begging congress to get their loved ones ashes out of the fresh-kills landfill? The only reason I am addicted to politics is because of William Rodriguez. If you don’t know who William Rodriguez is..you are a neo-con fascist boot licker like the rest of them.

Another thing, while I wasting time on this thing. How can any republican get up and say,” I am against abortion!” What a crock. You can be against abortion, but PRO-WAR? It doesn’t make any sense to me….I am pro-life and anti-war-anti-bush-anti-cheney-anti-cfr-anti-rudy-anti-hillary and PRO-AMERICAN!

    Ron Paul is a nutjob

  98. Mike Says:

I’ve been a lifelong Republican because I thought that the ideals of our party are precisely what Ron Paul espouses. But, according to what I am reading here, Ron Paul is a “fringe” Republican a.k.a. a “nutter”. Why?

Because he believes that the income system as we know it is unconstitutional (never ratified by 3/4 of the states).
Because he believes that our foreign policy has an impact on how other nations and/or peoples view us; even to the point that they would want to inflict harm on us?
Because he believes that the Constitution is the “law of the land” or should be?
Because he believes that the role of government ought to be limited and that the priority of the government should be the “protection” of individual liberty?

I can’t believe that some of you keep up the Fox/Giuliani mantra that Paul was advocating a “blame America” first policy with his reponse during the debate. This could not be further than the truth. 30 seconds to give an answer on something as complex on how failed foreign policy has attributed to increased animosity (hatred if you will) towards us. And, according to several intelligence experts and the 9/11 commision report, this is the primary reason for their hatred of us. Is it a “blame America” point of view or a failed foreign policy point of view? Paul did not accuse one American of inspiring the attacks. But, in order to bury serious debates, candidates like Paul must be silenced.

Frankly, I’m very disturbed by what I see in our party. Paul is not an “isolationist”. I think some of you would be wise to actually look that term up and read Paul’s views.

Incidently, I only voted once in the poll and have only voted once in any online poll for Paul. As crazy as it sounds, can’t you fathom for a second that people are ready for a candidate like Paul. He’s long overdue and I’m ready for some serious change in this country. If my viewpoint put me on the “fringe” or causes me to be labeled a “nutter” then so be it.

  99. Ownd Says:

The reason why Paul’s vote goes up so fast is because this poll gets linked to other forums (the one i come from has 100,000 people visit a day and most are constitutionalist , there is no spammers we just out number the neo-cons. You traitors can keep on crying and whining about spammers but it won’t make a damn difference, Ron Paul is going viral haha and theres no stopping him.

  100. Carl Says:

Jason Says: Giuliani= Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson or George Washington.
    What a world we live!
Jason, you skipped history class in school to smoke dope didn’t you?

Dskinner, you mind if I call you Dick? Well Dick, I see that you’ve managed to get the Neocon talking points down pat, but I doubt that they’ll serve your masters as you may hope. But don’t let reality stop you from your assigned task of lying for your masters; it makes the real choice in this election crystal clear for the rest of us. Ron Paul represents the last chance America will ever have to save our Constitutional Republic. Now Dick, demonstrate to us just how big a tool you truly are and sling some more of your snappy Neocon talking points our way, it’s truly entertaining.

  101. Carl Says:

OH and Dick, you should support Ron as well, he supports a state’s right to allow same sex unions.

  102. Mike Says:

    Taken from wikipedia:

Isolationism is a foreign policy which combines a non-interventionist military policy and a political policy of economic nationalism (protectionism). In other words, it asserts both of the following:

Non-interventionism – Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense.
Protectionism – There should be legal barriers to prevent trade and cultural exchange with people in other states.

While Paul advocates Non-interventionism, I have yet to hear him speak about Protectionism. In fact he is quite clear that his belief is that we ought to trade and be friends…completely opposite than a Protectionist. Just having a belief in non-interventionism is not enough to be labeled an “isolationist”.

In the words of Giuliani, I would ask any of you labeling Paul as such if “you would like to withdraw that statement”.

  103. John Dieter Says:

Uh, the GOP has been taken over by anti Constitutional rich big Government types:
    http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55862
There is only one Republican candidate that will even say the words “that is not the role of Government” and “that should be left to the states” and “abolish the IRS”. And you don’t support him? You are voting away your own Constitution. Thanks alot.

  104. Dskinner Says:

    Carl,

Your originality and creativity in attacking me must belie your true IQ and sophistication. I was under the impression that only the supremely inteligent were able to see through the web of necon filth and lies. Apparently you are much smarter than your post indicates and you just hide that fact while posting in order to avoid detection by the “military industrial complex”. It really is a clever plan, but unfortunately the multi-national corporations you despise are already on your trail. (I reported back to my “masters” and they already knew about you)

I have never heard such a concise and overwhelming rebuttal to an argument, that is if you don’t count all the ones that include facts and rational thought. Also, if by “the rest of us”, you mean the stastistically insignificant blip I see in last place in every scientific poll, then I am happy. Our intent is to speak over your heads and I am glad to know we are succeeding.

  105. John Dieter Says:

“While Paul advocates Non-interventionism” NO HE DOES NOT!
He has made it quite clear that he will fully support war IF Congress Declares it! He is against police actions, nation building, and Un Declared wars. (uh, all Republican core principals last time I looked)
If Congress had properly declared war on Iraq, they would not be able to play politics with it.

  106. John Dieter Says:

Dick used the term “Scientific Poll”
What a maroon! (as Buggs bunny would say)
Opinion is the opposite of science.

  107. J. Martin Says:

This is one of the POLLS that media uses to analyze a candidates popularity. VOTE NOW!
    RON PAUL

  108. John Dieter Says:

Hey MIKE: “Frankly, I’m very disturbed by what I see in our party.”
What you are seeing, is Elections that have become WWF matches. The outcome is determined in advance by the supposed “opponents”. They decide who is going to win and what exactly the fight is going to look like. Rupert MurdoKKK (owner of fox) ORDERED his reporters NOT to publish ANY negative stories about Hillary Clinton. The GOP WANTS Hillary to win, so Republicans won’t realize that the GOP is NOT Conservative! That is why Ron Paul (a true Conservative) must be marginalized, and ALL the powers that be have gotten the message.

  109. Dskinner Says:

Even though I previously welcomed everyone into the “Stop Rudy” movement, in no way do I want to be associated with the supporters of Dr. Paul. They should take simple-minded and nutty criticisms of Rudy Giuliani to another location.

That being said, I would like to call a truce in this entertainly little battle. None of us is going to be convinced that we are wrong, so I think we should just wait and see who ends up being right. I for one think that the media, the military industrial complex and the multi-national corporations are too much for Dr. Paul to overcome. They are so frightened of him that if he even gains half a percent in a poll so that his support becomes measurable (as opposed to 0%), they will come after him so quickly that he won’t have a chance.

If you need me to give up again in order to end this feud, I will. I guess I am just bitter that you guys rejected me. Instead of becoming a CAVE-DWELLING MOONBAT NUTTER, I will just have to remain back in reality where reason, facts and educated arguments rule as opposed to hysterical, ignorant and illiterate arguments.

EVEN THOUGH IT WILL REQUIRE ALL THE SELF-DISCIPLINE I HAVE, I AM NO LONGER GOING TO ENTERTAIN MYSELF BY RESPONDING TO ANY RON PAUL SUPPORTERS.

  110. Mike Says:

    Taken from Paul’s own website:

    War and Foreign Policy
The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. This war has cost more than 3,000 American lives, thousands of seriously wounded, and hundreds of billions of dollars. We must have new leadership in the White House to ensure this never happens again.

Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women.

We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing America and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.

Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.

Too often we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised. Too often we have supported those who turn on us, like the Kosovars who aid Islamic terrorists, or the Afghan jihads themselves, and their friend Osama bin Laden. We armed and trained them, and now we’re paying the price.

At the same time, we must not isolate ourselves. The generosity of the American people has been felt around the globe. Many have thanked God for it, in many languages. Let us have a strong America, conducting open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.

While you are correct that he states that we should not go to war without a declaration, he does believe in a non-interventionist foreign policy and has stated so publicly many times.

  111. J. Martin Says:

Oh, I didn’t realize that this site had a site meter. The referrer logs are interesting.

  112. Bill Holness Says:

There are many Americans starting to wake up to the reality that something is very wrong with our nation and it’s policies at home and abroad. Knowing just exactly what is wrong is paramount to finding the solutions to correct the failures we all see evident. There is not one problem, but many. We are a people diverse in our cultural, economical, philosophical and religious backgrounds and therefore we will not always agree on one solution. When it comes to the basics, though we are pretty much all alike, busy with the same concerns with life. If we look at the big picture the small stuff is inconsequential. The things that the majority of people are so consumed with, pale in insignificance in comparison to those things that truly matter, such as life and death. The preservation of our loved one’s lives, the preservation of “a way of life” that supports and promotes life. Many would agree, that promoting life and protecting our loved ones and ourselves is our greatest concern. Let’s simplify this by listing what is basic for promoting life. LOVE. That’s a short list! Although it is true that the “Original Author” of that list did expand upon it by giving a few, (more precisely 10), basic ways to promote life and as well happiness. This nation was indeed born out of the desire to escape tyranny and persecution and the founding fathers used those 10 ways of love as the template of design to build this great nation. Our early justice system was modeled after those basic laws of love. As a young nation we had to mature further and realize we could not any longer allow the persecution of others who were brought here against their will, nor any one else for that matter, for any reason. Then, as a nation, we demonstrated that we would not let tyrants continue to dominate and destroy other nations. We do have a great deal to be proud of, and also so many things to be ashamed of as well. It seems that while half the nation is working for a good cause the other half is undermining it. The important thing is that we, collectively, as a nation have the potential to be a better, greater force for good. Not just for our own sake but also for the other nations of the world, the people of the world. People like you and me make up those “other” nations, and we, like them, are all in need of the same basic elements to promote life, health and hope. Nations=countries=states=provinces=counties=towns=neighborhoods=houses=?. What is in those houses but you and me, we, us, the people. We, the People. Our government exists for the purpose of helping to put the common affairs of the people in order so as to prevent chaos and promote life, to serve the people. There is no doubt that this great country of ours has been enslaved by an unseen tyrant, aided by power hungry dollar mongers who have no interest in promoting life, only death and despair while filling their vaults with blood money. Let us, wake up and sound the alarm. The thieves have come to rob us of everything good, including our very basic liberties. As we now see this evil come upon us, we now know it did not happen over night. Many of us, I myself included, also realize that we are not going to regain control of our government without sacrifice and we no longer have the luxury of time, for there is none left. We must identify the enemy. Let us identify the wrongs that are being perpetrated against us. Ultimately, let’s start making change now. That change must come from within each of us and if we fail to make our own individual change it will be clear who is the real enemy. It will be clear who is the cause of our nation’s sorrows and each of our own personal heart breaks. We will see that the enemy is “us” because we let these power mongers take control of all that was deemed good and great in this, our wonderful “AMERICA”. It starts from inside of each of us. Yes, there are dark, evil, forces in control at this time, but our victory will be in that we fought back, that we stood up to federal tyranny and said no more. We are small when alone but giant when we stand together. Let each of us examine our own hearts and shed our shortcomings and be courageous in the face of seemingly impossible odds. For though we see what we perceive to be an enemy coming to do harm, the greater crime would be to do nothing to resist. It starts in the heart and home and then the community and spreads outward and upward and becomes unstoppable. There is a movement of people gaining momentum who know now that we have been illegally taxed for many decades, and lied to about the real events of 9/11 and the real reason we are losing sons and daughters in Iraq. We also know now that the administration in power gained office illegally because the voting machines were preprogrammed to count the votes in their favor and that fraud was perpetrated as well in the past few elections. There have been so many other ills and evils put upon good people for so long with no end in sight and it all stems from the greed and corruption of a few. The powers that be will strip away our ability to defend ourselves by taking away the right to bear arms. Some say “defend against what ?” but the scary truth is we may have to defend against our own government agents. Many people do not realize that the government we have come to hate and fear is being run by foreign powers. It is not controlled by the true American Citizens and so there is a confusion among patriots. When you hear “love it or leave it”, it is a saying usually thrown out by a well meaning patriot who is not believing there is anything wrong with this system or who says it is better than anywhere else in the world. We have the right to criticize the functioning of our government and if it is in error we were given the right to change it.It is quite possible to love a nation of people and hate the government oppressing those same citizens. Bush made a big mistake when he said, regarding people who disagree with the Bush/Cheney Cartel, “If you are not with us then you are with the terrorists!”. He called every American that did not agree with his regime a terrorist. That has made many people angry. I am sure that Saddam Hussein said the same thing to all of those that dared to oppose him and he is removed by the regime that is enslaving us. That is ironic! Doesn’t that sound like something Hitler said to each country he invaded. I can tell you that there have been many dictators who have said the same thing. They first imprisoned those who disagreed and tortured and killed any who defied them. In this country there hundreds of prisons already built with no inmates in them yet and more slated to be built. They sit empty waiting for the day when they will fill them with people who choose not to comply with the governments demands of loyalty. Soon we will not be able to buy or sell without a computer chip implanted in us and that will start with a chip embedded in our driver license or state i.d. card. What better way to bring a country to its knees than to force a control of it’s people to comply or starve. They will start with those in the military, those incarcerated, and those on welfare and medicare, elderly and children. It will include all who are allowed passage into this country. All essential government agents will have to comply or they will not be allowed to hold civil office. We are at the threshhold of that door. We must start our vigil by protecting all media independents. The reason we did not know of these horrors before is because the great propaganda machine took control of the media giants and shut them down from speaking the truth. They have been bought off and we have been lied to. The next step against the American People will be to use attacks by our own domestic terrorists, like the Tim McVeighs’,the Columbine killers, etc., to convince us to lay down our arms. We all know that guns don’t kill people, people kill people with guns. There is something wrong with peoples hearts when they resort to killing just to make a point. A symptom of something more deeply rooted and it is manifesting in all cross sections of society. An irrational act in a desperate attempt to feel some control in an out of control world perhaps. Which brings me full circle to what I have said is the most important thing for us all to do, and that is to look deep within our hearts individually to see if we are in some way failing to do something that would make a difference and once seeing, change our path and make a difference. Make a difference and vote for Ron Paul, I am. He is for the people and that is all that matters. Bill Holness

  113. Bill Holness Says:

For Rudy Giuliani who’s response to Ron Paul’s statement, that we are experiencing “blowback” due to the governments foreign policy, was that it was absurd to think that we invited the attacks. I will make it simple for Giuliani and anyone else who thinks the same with this statement from Michael Scheuer—-”The politicians really are at great fault for not squaring with the American people. We’re being attacked for what we do in the Islamic world, not for who we are or what we believe in or how we live.” – CIA Bin Laden Unit Chief Michael Scheuer

It’s laughable for you neocons to imply he has only a few hundred supporters. If this were the case it would be easy for the other candidate’s supporters to drown them out. However we don’t see this.

  118. MJK Says:

Well, looks like I’m being censored. I’ve tried three times to post comments here and they do not show up. Once again, anyone who talks about Paul is censored.

    Nice…..welcome to the New America.

  119. JasonJack Says:

    Ryan H–

when will it show up inthe real polls?

also, MJK, lots of ppl have trouble submitting

  120. mjs Says:

Ryan, get back to WoW…seriously, leave politics to the reality-based virtual geeks.

  121. Phil M Says:

You know, nothing that Ryan said was false. Polls only survey “likely Republican primary voters.” Many Paul supporters are independents or have never voted before, some are even (gasp!) Democrats. Financially he’s doing well too- within a week or two after the second debate he raised over a million dollars. That’s not what Mitt and Hillary are making, but with his online support he will raise enough to be a serious contender. I’ve said it before here, and its always been ignored: 54% of Iowa Republicans want to end the Iraq war in under 6 months. As most polls show Iraq is the most important issue, I think that at least some of those Iowans will vote for the only candidate who comes close to their foreign policy beliefs.

  122. Dave Says:

    I like Ron Paul:

Because he won’t steal my wallet while I’m sleeping, then arrest me for vagrancy when I wake up.

Because I’m embarrassed that we have to borrow every red cent to ‘fight our enemies’ in Iraq. You know, the ‘We can borrow more than you can borrow’ National Defense Plan.

Because 70% debt-to-GDP with a trillion dollar trade deficit has no future.

Because I don’t want my POTUS to send the CIA to overthrow Chavez because Exxon told him to, then tell me we’re ‘fighting our enemies’.

Because the Federal Reserve has made enough money off my back while eroding my life savings and looting my SS account.

I don’t care if Sally, who wants to be Sam and marry Bruce, gets her abortion legally or in Mexico or with a rusty coat hanger, I just don’t wanna pay for it.

  123. Andrew Link Says:

I have been a loyal Republican for over 20 years, and was a staunch Rudy supporter. That was until I watched the first two debates, now I am firmly in the Paul camp. I was at a farmers’ market yesterday and there were a group of 18-24 year olds who had set up shop campaigning for Paul – they were giving out little buttons and photocopied fliers. I asked them who was paying them to be there, and they responded that it was costing each one of them $40 each in supplies alone. I offered to pay them for the button they gave me, but they refused to accept anything and just asked me to contribute via the web site. These folk were very dedicated and convincing. I think I am a wacko that you all talk about, not because I am now supporting Paul, but because I was considering voting for Rudy in the first place.
