Once again…. Not that Thompson
GOP presidential candidate Tommy Thompson raised just under a half-million dollars in the second quarter of the year, showing an uptick from the first quarter but well behind the party’s front-runners.
Thompson, a former Wisconsin governor and U.S. Health and Human Services secretary, announced Tuesday he had raised $473,000 from April to June - including a $25,000 loan from the candidate.
In the first quarter, Thompson raised $391,000, which included $75,000 in loans from Thompson.
“We are certainly pleased at the strong growth in our fundraising,” Thompson said in a statement. “We’ve kept our overhead low and maintained a disciplined budget. To date, we’re able to run a campaign equal to that of the better-funded candidates despite the differences in funding.”

Tommy, that last sentence which you highlighted is quite a gem.

August 11th…. he’s out

He’s another guy I feel bad for. He’s got a good record, and when he’s not debating seems like a good guy. After the early Iowa Lincoln Forum, I had really high hopes for him becoming an upper echolon (if not quite first tier) candidate. But the debates, the gaffes, and the Microchip implants just have been to much to overcome.

pitiful

He does serve a good purpose in the debates: he makes Brownback sound interesting.

Of course I only saw one debate.

Time to gratiously bow out Tommy.

Tommy can show integrity by bowing out after failing to come 2nd in Ames.

Does anyone have Huckabee’s Q2 numbers?
July 3rd, 2007 at 8:43 pm
None that have been reported. I’m not going to be checking for the next few hours so I might miss them, but if they’re not up I’ll check when I get back.

Thanks Tommy,
I think if he gets less than $1m, then he’s out and Brownback becomes the only real hope of the 2nd tier conservative no-hopers (by which I mean Brownback, Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, TThompson, Gilmore)

Tommy, you are becoming mean with the announcements of a Thompson, but not that Thompson! >:|
What is Tommy Thompson saying here, “we’re able to run a campaign equal to that of the better-funded candidates despite the differences in funding.â€? Campaign equal to other candidates?!? Let me see, he is pretty much stuck in Iowa. I do not think he has campaigned anywhere else. Do anyone know if he has travelled around the country raising some funds, giving speeches at some reputable colleges, and so on? I don’t think so. I admire his effort, but it is ridiclous to claim it goes beyond a state.

Why did he declare? Wasn’t he exempt from declaring this quarter?

bjalder26, this one is Tommy. The one you were thinking of is Fred. Yes, we have two Thompsons in this race.

From a personal standpoint I will tell you that Tommy Thompson is the best candidate for a good,
well founded statesman.
Anyone with knowledge of Wisconsin prior to Thompson taking the reigns as governor can attest to his
ability to abruptly turn around the governmental departments and change their focus.
Check the record beyond what the (UN)American media writes pushing their own agenda be it a Republican
or Democratic candidate. Read LIBERAL
Unfortunately the candidates record doesn’t count as much as his appearance on TV or in the media photos.
When you mention gaffes by a candidate, no one has committed as many as Al Gore, and I mean no one.
Check the news on how many are reported
