You better watch out tonight…Chuck Norris will be in the spin room…
The spin room after the debate tonight in St. Pete, Fla., just got a little more interesting.
(The “spin room” is where campaign advisers and spokespeople go after the debate, along with every journo covering the debate, to get their message about the debate out there.)
And, we predict the Mike Huckabee questions are about to be asked with a bit more frequency. Why? Chuck Norris will be in the there, answering questions, mugging for the TV cameras, high kicking (?), etc.
He’s touting Huckabee, you know.

Merely a novelty figure, not putting good ole Chuck down or anything.

Will Norris be taking down the author(s) of today’s story about Huckabee?

Rett,
Aren’t you even slightly concerned that all the focus on Norris’ high kicks is going to make Huckabee look…less than Presidential?
November 28th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Will Norris be taking down the author(s) of today’s alarming story about Huckabee from Yahoo News??

Oops, wrong link…

murphy,
I agree. With all of Huckabee’s bed-time stories, folksy demeanor, softness on illegals, softness on criminals, jokesiness, it wouldn’t take much of a…uhmm…kick, to make the good Governor look less then serious.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:42 pm
I guess that Huckabee hopes that people are star struck by Chuck Norris. If so, people might ignore the fact that he is a big government, tax-raising liberal.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
Eh. That last post was from me. Somehow I reverted to my prior moniker.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
Looks like Rudy is in for some rough times ahead. Drudge has a headline basically accusing him of misappropriating taxpayer money for his own vacation. It will be interesting to find out more about this as it develops.

New NH poll. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/nh/new_hampshire_republican_primary-193.html
Romney at 34, Rudy at 20, and McCain at 13. And my goodness, Thompson is at 2.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Actually, this is the link: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/NH_POTUS_Primary_Poll_NOV_28.html
November 28th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
dblagent007, those weren’t exactly vacations in the traditional sense.
Thompson at 2? Is that even possible?
November 28th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Interesting internals. Granite Staters really wouldn’t trust Rudy driving their kids to school. They trust Mitt and McCain the most.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
Also, the internals show a higher degree of firmness in support, then past NH polls. 43% say it’s unlikely they’ll change their mind. Only 11% say it’s very likely they’ll change their mind.
November 28th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
Matt, that’s an unfair characterization. Especially in light of this question:
Q33. Is Rudy Giuliani trustworthy?
N= 300 100%
Yes …………………………………….. 1 ( 1/139) 208 69%
No ……………………………………… 2 54 18%
Undecided (DO NOT READ) …………………… 3 38 13%
Refused (DO NOT READ) …………………….. 4 0 0%
November 28th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Regarding the fact that more would prefer Mitt to drive their kids to school, they must be unaware a passenger in his car was once killed.
November 28th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
Metro,
How is that an unfair characterization? I never claimed that Rudy was considered generally untrustworthy. But, it’s likely that voters trust Rudy to do what he says in his public capacity, but distrust him in a private capacity. That’s expected and natural given his history. Regardless, it’s clear which one has more to do with becoming a good president, and in that regard, Rudy’s in fairly good stead.
November 28th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
It’s unfair because metro says so. Haven’t you learned by now that he doesn’t need facts?
November 28th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Murphy, now that there is a link to the article I see that “vacations” may not have been the most appropriate characterization. Hizzoner was making some trips to the cheating side of town. The question now is whether those expenses are legit (hey, a man needs security when he is cheating on his wife).

Huckabee opposed a Republican lawmaker’s efforts in 2005 to require proof of legal status when applying for state services that aren’t federally mandated and proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Huckabee derided the bill as un-American and un-Christian and said the bill’s sponsor drank a different “Jesus juice.”
That same year, Huckabee failed in his effort to make children of illegal immigrants eligible for state-funded scholarships and in-state tuition to Arkansas colleges. At the time, Huckabee said he didn’t understand the opposition to it.
“It hurts me on a personal as well as a policy level to think that we are still debating issues that I kind of hoped we had put aside in the 1960s, maybe at the latest the ’70s, and yet I understand people have deep passions about things usually they don’t fully understand,” Huckabee said.

DO ANY OF YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO????????
(sorry)
November 28th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Chuck Norris…what a joke, literally. Why would any “serious” presidential candidate have Chuck Norris field questions from the media. Who’s next for Huckster, Jesse Ventura?
November 28th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
Let me guess…When Chuck Norris enters the spin room he doesn’t do any spinning, the room spins around him?
November 28th, 2007 at 6:46 pm
I don’t get the whole chuck thing? it makes him look stupid.
