Well, I don’t trust ARG, but Romney does appear to be making gains.
That said, I don’t think Independents can vote in the Iowa caucus.
December 24th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
If Ron Paul catches Giuliani . . .
December 24th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
THE HUCK-A-BUST is Coming…..Jan. 3rd!!
December 24th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Independents can switch to Republican for the caucus on site. Thanks to our current legislature who passed same day registration last session. (They might have been able to switch same day to caucus before, but now they definitely can.) We have D’s and I’s switching over all the time in Iowa…

Fred Thompson is still running for president? Who knew…is there a law that he needs to drop out if he finishes behind Hunter and Keyes?
December 24th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
I don’t believe this poll. No way that Fred is 6th.
December 24th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
Here are the results of Republicans only (likely caucus goers):
Romney 23%
Huckabee 23%
Giuliani 16%
McCain 15%
Paul 8%
Thompson 3%
Hunter 2%
Keyes 2%
I can’t figure out the Thompson numbers. Like I said, ARG is crap, but this does appear to show Romney continuing to make gains. We are just going to have to wait until after Christmas to find out.

In Florida, the primary is closed, but independents can re-register as Republicans by December 31 and vote in the GOP primary, which starts January 14. The state also allows unaffiliated voters who’d prefer to preserve their political independence to switch back to ‘No Party Affiliation’ status that same day after casting their ballots.
December 24th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
GO ROMNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 24th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
ARG polls are worthless but I suppose they belong in the RCP with the rest of them. Mitt has definately closed the gap between the 2 of them. Im curious to see what Hucks numbers will be this week after getting exposed on Rush’s show. Of course, Rush isnt the only person who has gone after Hucks weak record.
As for NH, can we please put into perspective that early voting began 2 weeks ago (at a time when Romney led by 15%). Independants will vote for Obama, Hillary, Mccain, Rudy, and Romney, and no one person will get a majority of them enough to blow this open like 2000. Back then, independants fell behind McCain mostly since Gore was the presumptive winner of the Dems. This year, regardless of IA’s outcome, anybody can win NH for the dems. Independants will not surge McCain like 2000. GOP voters will get it and give Romney the win.

I think its also important to point out the McCain bump was largely endorsement driven. Once the Christmas holdiay passes, McCain name will have been out of the headlines for a few days, and people are going to really start sitting down and figuring out who to support. Recent polls have shown that, if those peopele start thinking about who is a strong leader, who can beat the Democrats, who shares their values, and who has new ideas for Washington, they are going to be inclined to support Romney.
But we will see. Hopefully voters will realize that Romney is the most experienced, complete conservative in the race, and they will support him.
December 24th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Oh boy if the ARG polling is true with the Dems, Obama Fell to thrid?
December 24th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Wow, Ron Paul 10%
December 24th, 2007 at 8:41 pm
ARG is a joke. McCain is encouraging his people in Iowa to vote for Huck. That will put Huck over the edge in Iowa. Huck wins Iowa!!!
December 24th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
This website is really anti-Huckabee. Why is everyone so hateful? Why Pro-Romney? He was listed as the 7th biggest liberal in 2006 on Human Events. Why is everyone trying to pretend he is a Conservative?
December 24th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Huh… Looks like Ron Paul’s got 10% of the land-line users.
December 24th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
ARG polls suck. I don’t trust them at all, even if they had Romney up by 10 points.
December 24th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
#14 – “McCain is encouraging his people in Iowa to vote for Huck. That will put Huck over the edge in Iowa. Huck wins Iowa!!!”
Let’s look at the numbers then shall we? Hmmm . . . McCain goes from 20% support to 17%. So a 3% decline . . . let’s take a look at Huckabee’s numbers to see if your logic holds up . . . Huckabee goes from . . . 28% to 23% . . so a loss of 5%. While Romney goes from . . . 17% to . . . 21%. I guess so, but the numbers don’t make that case. Granted this is ARG, and their polls rarely make sense, but your argument leaks like a sieve.
December 24th, 2007 at 9:13 pm
Huck a bust is still working. One more week and he’s trailing by 4 points.
December 24th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Thanks….Nate…..I agree
Merry Christmas…..

“Why Pro-Romney? He was listed as the 7th biggest liberal in 2006 on Human Events. Why is everyone trying to pretend he is a Conservative?”
Because he “converted.” And politicians don’t never lie.
December 24th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Wow. that double negative in #21 was unintentional, and the result of changing my thought mid sentence.
But it does add a twist of irony.
December 24th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
On behalf of my fellow Hucksters, I’d like to wish all the Rombots, Rudyites, McCainiacs, Fred Heads, and Paululons a very merry Christmas.
God bless.

“This website is really anti-Huckabee. Why is everyone so hateful?”
Well, that’s easily enough answered:
1) Huckabee increased spending by 65% as Governor of Arkansas.
2) He increased the average tax burden by 47%. (No man can ever be called a conservative in my book after #1 and #2.)
3) He endorsed instate tuition and scholarships for ILLEGAL aliens.
4) He openly condemned illegal raids on meat processing plants in Arkansas.
5) Regarding forein policy, he blatantly said, “We have much to offer Iran” Yes, he was going to buy off the Islamists and no doubt they’d do as we wished then.
6) Let’s not forget the endless ethical violations he incurred while governor. I suppose receiving gifts is an entitlement if you’re governor of Arkansas.
7) How many thousand criminals did Huckabee pardon? There was a point in his governorship where he was pardoning a criminal every 2 days. Now how he had time to review the legal proceedings of a court case and determine he knew better than a judge in all of these cases while still running his state is a mystery to me.
And as for me, personally, I’m convinced Huckabee has mistaken and misplaced the church’s role in charity and superimposed it upon the state–something the state was never intended to do. Not only does it undermine the mission of the church, but it puts a mandated gun to others’ head to give to the government or else.

#23,
Same to you, MWS, though I’m not quite sure how to pronounce “Paululons”… I usually describe my kind as “Paulians” or “Crazy Internet Poll Spammer Nuts”
December 24th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
Merry Christmas to all . . . and to all a good night!
December 25th, 2007 at 1:13 am
CMartel2 would you like me to list the issues Mitt has openly lied about on the campaign trail. Huckabee remains the a true leader on the issues that matter the most to this counrty…life, traditional marriage,Fair Tax and keeping America safe. I love how people attack Huckabee over immigration, yet the founder of the Minutemen Jim Gilchrist endorses him. He endorsed him by saying he has layed out the best plan for immigration.
The people busting Huck on this site are clueless. The last laugh will come when Huck wins the Iowa Caucus and then the nomination.
December 25th, 2007 at 11:46 am
“If Ron Paul catches Giuliani . . .”
Perhaps then we’ll have Shock and Awe?
Lol.
Merry Christmas everyone.
December 25th, 2007 at 11:46 am
“The last laugh will come when Huck wins the Iowa Caucus and then the nomination.”
The only one’s laughing will be the Clintons.
December 25th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Like Mitt has a prayer in the general election…HA!
December 25th, 2007 at 2:52 pm
The Hucksters and Paul-lites are in for a big, big surprise in Iowa. Paul will barely register — maybe 2 or 3%, tops — and Huck will come in a distant third, tops. Top two will be Mitt and Fred, and its a toss-up which will be first and which will be second. You heard it here first.
