LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.
“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you,” Huckabee said, citing the Golden Rule. “I have tried to govern that way and it stands to reason that I really do believe that what made this great country so great and so unique is that it has always been a place for people to run to - and not run from.

Huckabee: ‘Race-baiting ’ behind immigration bill

Excerpts
“Gov. Mike Huckabee said Thursday that a bill to deny state government benefits and voting rights to illegal immigrants is “inflammatory… race-baiting and demagoguery.” He challenged the Christian values of its main sponsor.
WITH HUCK’S CURRENT POSITION ON IMMIGRATION?
His position has changed, even though he claimed previous position was based on his religion. His current position has alot in common with what he has previously described as racist.
This is more than a little irreverent and borders on blasphemous.
“. . . Huckabee, Jesus loves you more than you can know.”
“God Bless you please Mr. Huckabee, the White House holds a place for those who pray”
“. . . Huckabee, Jesus wishes you and he could vote.”
It’s obvious that Huck supporters think that God’s really on Huck’s side and they’re trying to convince others of their divine obligation to get Huck “anointed” as POTUS.
When those 2 fine young men get their first paycheck and see how little of it is left, then they will understand the foolishness of social conservatives abandoning fiscal conservatives and thereby destroying the Republican Party.
Nahhh…these Huckabee supporters aren’t supporting the guy because he’s an ordained baptist minister and a real Christian…There’s much more to it than that, right?
Brett #12 - You’re probably right - and thanks for posting this, always a good laugh to see these Huckabee supporter videos.
However, I do think it’s a bit presumptious that these guys would say something like this about Huckabee:
“Jesus would choose you if he could vote
Judging from comments I’ve read over at Mike Huckabee’s Blog by other supporters, there are a lot more supporters than just these guys that believe that lie.
brett, not so sure about that. it is clear from the polls that huckabee’s support comes almost single handedly from evangelicals. he has a big base, but not much else going for him.

See that site for “Clemency” the best Huck video so far.

Another substantive argument for Huck I see. This is about as substantive as they get.

Quack, who do you support?
January 13th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
McCain probably, maybe Fred, anyone but Huckabee.
Too many conservatives in AR have had too negative of an experience with Huckabee for me to ever support him.

Thanks.

Brett, can you reconcile this:

How do you make sense of that?

More than a little disturbing IMO.

The line “there’s no such thing as a Huckabee affair” was a good line though.
Still the bravado of Huck supporters on the religion front bugs me big time.

I thought it was an excellently performed cover, although near blasphemous as Jeff says.

Didn’t do it for me either. No substance, and lots of these Huck supporters turn out to be haters.

painful…just painful…liked the Chuck videos better.
