  1. joe c. Says:

the debate is boring. dont watch. they are being totally nice, and have no policy differences. that doesnt leave much, and the moderators are totally giving them both a butt kissing

  2. joe c. Says:

although obama ripped mccain on tax cuts. called him a flip flopper. its a start. he said the “wheels came off the straight talk express”

  3. JamesB Says:

I expect both Hillary and Obama to endorse John McCain during the debate.

  4. davew Says:

this is even more proof why we need an ELECTABLE candidate in the fall. mitt’s rehortic just isn’t gonna convince anybody in a debate against hillary or obama. i can see him just getting pummeled by one of these two. mccain would do much better (as long as he watches his temper).

  5. grandma T Says:

Clinton and McCain are ‘very close’ Best friends forever.

  6. Frank Says:

this is silly questioning… wierd questions… very odd

  7. joe c. Says:

davew, using mccains debate skills as a reason for him, is a bad idea. mccain has underperformed in almost all the debates. if you want a good debater, go for huck. mitts skills arent as a debater, they are as a manager. mccain has tried to diss mitt as a manager, but this country and the war have been poorly managed. we need a good manager. unlike mccain, i want someone who has managed for profit.

  8. JayPe Says:

As The Fix recently noted, the more they pummel McCain, the better it is for JMac. Nothing the GOP likes better than someone attacked by the Dems…

  9. Nate Says:

Obama brags about working on McCains immigraiton plan.

  10. JayPe Says:

If I was Hillary, bunkering down for a long fight with Obama, I’d highlight the fact that if the election was her versus McCain it would be a “civil affair, focusing on the issues”.

Its to the Dems advantage for the GOP to have 2nd thoughts about McCain. Saying that would totally do it.

  11. JamesB Says:

McCain can’t debate a liberal - you need to have an opposing view to be able to debate an issue. McCain didn’t just reach across the aisle while he was in the senate, he found a seat and stayed. Look at his record over the years in the senate http://nationaljournal.com/voteratings/pdf/06republicans.pdf

  12. UA Says:

    this could get UGLY!!

  13. JayPe Says:

Also, could say: Fantastic that McCain will win GOP, now whether me or my opponent wins the Dem side we know that we will have consensus on immigration, global warming, etc.

That would help Mitt & Mike!!

  14. grandma T Says:

    Obama and McCain BFF.

  15. Brendan - Mitt 08 Says:

    Lost - Dem Debate - Lost - Dem Debate….

    hmmmm

    no brainer, Lost it is

  16. Mark Says:

“I worked with Ted Kennedy, (some other liberal), and John McCain, even though he doesn’t want to admit it, on immigration reform”

This quote isn’t exact, but it’s essentially what Obama said.

I hate that whenever they talk about ILLEGAL immigration, they either use the term “immigration” or “undocumented” and don’t acknowledge that people here have broken the laws to get here.

To get a liscence in Indiana, you need to have your SS real card, your original birth certificate, and proof of your residency to the state. You also need to pass a 50 question test. You fail if 5 or more answers are wrong. Why should illegals be allowed to skip the system? They have neither the “SS card” or the “birth certificate” or “proof of residence” (at least legal ones)

  17. Jeffrey Says:

Is it just me, or do they look like the 11pm news anchors?

  18. Aron Goldman Says:

    Just Like Matthau and Lemmon

In a joint appearance on The Tonight Show with John McCain, Rudy Giuliani leaves the door open for a run as McCain’s vice president.

“I was asked that question a number of times when I was the candidate for president,” Giuliani said this evening. “And what I said was you don’t make decisions like that until you’re the nominee and then you give it a lot of reflection. Nobody runs for it, and the candidate has to have total, absolutely open choice as to whoever they think is the best.”

Giuliani and McCain joked about football like old friends, but when asked how McCain was able to resurrect his campaign while Giuliani was not, the two got serious.

“There are a lot of things that explain it,” Giuliani said, when asked about the downturn of his campaign. “I think the great campaign that [McCain] ran, coming from where it looked like it was over and John never accepted it was over.”

McCain said that Giuliani had run an “honorable” campaign, and tried to keep his own campaign honorable by calling Romney a “fine family man” when asked about the tiff during the debate last night.

“I just think that I’m obviously more qualified,” McCain said, to much applause. “It kind of erupted and you try to avoid that as much as you can. And I want to tell you this guy Governor Huckabee is a good guy. He really is. He’s a good, sincere person.”

McCain also downplayed the economic perils that the country is facing, saying as he as before that the country will get through it. He once again emphasized that the greatest challenge facing America is the threat of radical Islam, and Feb 5th will be his chance to see if voters agree.

  19. grandma T Says:

Off thread Ann Coulter said is John McCain in the republican nominee she would campaign and vote for Hillary.

  20. grandma T Says:

    sorry about the typo’s

  21. alaska jake Says:

    19. . . That was the most bizarre interview I’ve seen in a long time.

  22. spunky Says:

    More off topic….

Hannity endorses Romney. So does Levin. Not surprising that they went for Romney but it is a bit surprising that they actually decided to state it.

  23. Kevin Says:

Ugh, little late Sean, you tard. You could’ve been plugging him for months, and helped him win. Now you just look like a fool.

I hope Mitt comes back for 2012.

  24. Dave Says:

On Topic: Obama calling for tax increases is bizarre as well. Mondale tried that ploy in ‘84 and carried one state…..sort of like Rudy getting one pledged delegate out of more than $50 Million. Maybe Obama will have better luck with it.

  25. Dave Says:

    kevin,
Mitt hasn’t lost…he’s just warming up.

  26. Jack Says:

In a general when there isn’t a great difference between the candidates, electorate will go for Hillary. This is why McCain will lose. If you are independent why not vote for the first women president.

    Both senators
    friends
    similar positions on some issues

  27. Doodee Says:

    Thanks for sharing

  28. Axel G. (independent) Says:

Very civil and heavy on policy. Obama succeeded in two important areas. One, he showed he is more than rhetoric, getting into the weeds of his proposals. Two, he beat Clinton up (with a smile) over her Iraq vote. His line that he would not only be ready on day one but also get it right on day one sums up his response to her experience argument.
