McCain attracted votes from 62% of voters who consider themselves moderate. Conservatives were evenly divided, with 36% going to McCain and 38% choosing Romney. McCain is seen as the most electable candidate, with 78% of voters polling that the Arizona senator is at least somewhat likely to win the Republican nomination. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters believe Romney has at least somewhat of a chance to win the nomination. Among New Jersey voters, 37% of voters feel the economy is the most important issue to consider in the upcoming presidential election. The War in Iraq comes in second with 18% and national security is the most important issue for 16% of voters.
However, 53% would rather have a president who can address national security, while 34% want a president who can address economic issues.

This is a winner-take-all state, and also one that might be contested in the general election. It was uncompetitive in 2000, but probably due to 9/11, it tightened considerably in 2004.

Jmac getting the lion’s share of Rudy’s support

How much of a move was this?

If you listen to the MSM it is a 50 point spread not 13

9% = Write-ins for Rudy!

If you listen to The REAL Truth, you know you’re hearing nonsense. BTW 43-29 is 14, not 13. Use your head.

Once again Mitt wins among conservatives, Mac among moderates. Now who truly represents the Republican wing of the Republican party?

Rasmussen always underpolls McCain’s support and they overpoll Romney’s, that’s why there the 15th best polling firm out there now in the primary. I’m waiting until Zogby comes out with there poll on New Jersey b/c they were dead on with the Florida prediction almost, there final survey showed 35 to 31, and the final was 36 to 31. So i dont think theres anyway that McCain is only up 14 in New Jersey, its way bigger than that, you heard it here first!

Wow. This is surprising. I’ve seen tons of McCain signs here, but no Romney presence. If Mitt’s really within 13 points in a state that’s this friendly to McCain, perhaps all isn’t lost.

After losing in IA, NH, SC, and FL I NEVER thought I’d see Romney at 30% in a New Jersey poll. This is done WITHOUT ADVERTISING FOLKS!!
Definite signs of life for Romney!

11,
Yeah he’s at 30% because HE’S PRACTICALLY THE ONLY GUY LEFT BESIDES MCCAIN!
Huckabee isn’t going to play well in NJ, obviously. A Romney supporter on the Titanic would be on the aft deck yelling “But THIS half of the ship is above water! We’ll be fine!”

Patrick keep in mind how many good men started this nomination process and are non longer here. It is good to still be standing.

Looks like the fried chicken - nut job is losing momentum. How long before he is behind Ron Paul?

wow, thats quite a jump, 19 points for romney. only what was it 12 or so for mccain in comparison post florida and post rudy drop out.
does that mean most of rudy’s support went to romney. romney really should put the pedal to the medal and keep fighting. he is definetly not out at this point. romney beats mccain in a two man race.
damn that huckabee. if he would just drop out we would be able to stop mccain, or at leasst have a better shot. rommney would take georgia if he dropped out, tennesee, missouri…..

Maybe this is the first signs of the idiocy McCain showed in the last debate. Thisis much closer than I expected it to be.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:12 am
but where did his 19 point jump come from? did it come mostly from giuliani supporters? It must have???? some went to mccain because he still went up, but most appear to have gone to romney which is consistent with what i am hearing from all my friends who are rudy supports and now romney supporters.
