So as I was saying, the polls were right about all but two things:
1) Huck did better than expected in the south. Figures, because the guy knows how to turn out first time evangelical voters.
2) Romney did 10-15 pts WORSE than the polls suggested he would in the SW. Why? Did people lie to the pollsters and say they were voting for Romney? Any ideas?
So far, the California returns are not looking good. I’ve taken them county by county, and while some key counties aren’t in at all yet, they don’t look good so far….obviously I’m talking about this from Mitt’s standpoint.
That is huge for McCain. A loss there really could have shaken things up. Well it looks like he will hold on in CA, thus, being our nominee. Hope I am wrong. Congrats to you McCain folks, this has been a fascinating campaign, the best in a long, long time.
Now you Mccainiacs need to start selling a bunch of us quickly on your guy. First, I think he ran a dirty campaign, so that is a rough start, second, I think he will be a pretty mediocre president, all I see is more war and worse economy. Start selling me on why I am wrong, but not tonight, I am going to bed. Night all.
Yeah… Sorry about that everyone. I have this horrible migraine. So I’ve been laying down for 20 minutes, then getting back up to watch again for 20 minutes, then laying down…
The reason that Rudy hasn’t been removed yet is technical. I promise to remove him as soon as I can.
Honestly, I wonder if we’re better off with 4 years of a Dem in the White House so that if nothing else the MSM can start to feed us happy thoughts about how life is going. Then we can try again in 2012. I’d rather that than have 4 years of McCain pretending to be the GOP while being a Dem in the White House.
DaveG,
What are you talking about? The polls suggested that Mitt was up by 19 points in Colorado, and he’s up by 32. He’s won Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Utah, and Massachusetts…..all by double digits. He’s within 3 or 4 points in Missouri and Georgia. He’s doing a little worse than the polls suggested in Tennessee and Illinois, but no polls had him ahead there. Also, I’m not sure anybody had him ahead in Minnesota…..much less by the margin he won there by.
Not with Huck on the ticket, Black Southern baptists won’t necessarily vote for Obama, and Emporer McCain already fares well with Democrats, Moderates, and Liberals
If conservatives support McCain, they all have abused wife syndrome. They take a beating from him and just keep giving him love in return. Not me folks. I’ll take my whippin’ from Obama before McCain anyday.
Now you Mccainiacs need to start selling a bunch of us quickly on your guy.
I promise that I will do my best to do just that in the next 9 months. And I hope that folks will hear me out with an open mind. That’s all I ask. Not that you do want I want you to do. But that you at least give me a chance.
41 - I also agree that Obama is the GOP’s biggest fear. The crazy thing is that every time I’ve heard him speak, it’s all about “hope and greatness” and other vague ideas that we all love. He has yet to speak to any issue…hmmm, and people are liking that. Maybe Mitt is losing some states because he worried too much about issues.
Anybody who thinks McCain can beat Barry is delusional. The only hope for Republicans now is if McCain and Huck drop out in the name of party unity. Romney has already said he ain’t leaving so I see no other choice.
I’m as staunch a McCain fan as you can find, but after watching Obama’s speech why do I get the feeling that Obama vs McCain could be Kennedy/Nixon all over again?
John Stimple - good point - the super delegates on teh DEM side account for 40% of the required as I understadn it, and Hillary is already fighting to get MI and FL seated.
Particularly since Hillary said ’swift boat’ during her speech tonight - I think that was a slip of her intended plans with the race
The crazy thing is that every time I’ve heard him speak, it’s all about “hope and greatness†and other vague ideas that we all love.
You should hear his church some time, they are huge supporters of Lewis Farakanh, and commend him for his rhetoric on Africa, kill everything white in sight that aint right, I’m talking women, children, etc…
Don’t say we ’cause if California doesn’t look good, I’m already out the door. Anyone with me? I mean, of all the gifted conservatives in this country, we are in serious danger of gettin, McCain? Romney is the dream candidate. And the country is wasting the opportunity.
I’ve been referring to his supporters as “Hope Nazis” lately, but I think I’m going to swap that for “Obama cultists.” I’ve seen the phrase hope-monger, though.
86- Obama’s taking it to a sitting Washington insider senator. Let’s see - we the faithful GOP will give him another one so he can do it again in November!
Yes, I think Mitt is the one that can argue against Obama the best.
I’m with you, TLG. I’m about your age and it’s especially disappointing to see so many college kids go ga-ga over the guy… I mean, I’m used to my peers being fairly liberal, but at least they’re usually cynical about that sort folksy, Oprah-esque “inspiring” mumbo-jumbo. I cringe every time I listen to the guy.

Well, I’m heading to American University in the fall (where Obama announced his Kennedy endorsement), and most of the people I’ve met so far online in the ‘12 class are Obama people. I’ve met someone that chaired his county’s Thompson campaign (yes, at 17), a couple of Paul people, and scattered McCain and former Giuliani people, but it’s overwhelmingly Obama, there. It’s fun to debate Obama with them, though, because it just confirms all of your prejudices!
Romney is winning all the swing states. Huck is winning states that are solid red and McCain winning the ones that are solid blue. Huck could probably beat Obama but did you hear McCain’s speech? He’s Bob Dole part deux.
Well if you want a Romney presidency it is a good thing that he is losing this nomination because it looks like we are going to get crushed in November.
Time to start organizing so we can hold Senate and House seats and regroup in 2010 and 2012. 1st priority going forward, make sure Mike Huckabee has no future in the 2012 race.
…Paging Eric Dondero (my official jihad target, if you’ll recall), admitted Rombot, who said yesterday that we shouldn’t nominate a guy that can’t win the California primary…
I repeat…Did you hear Kristol on FOX? Top 2 vote getters in the primaries…HRC #1 and #2, John McCain? NO Barak Obama. The R party is doomed. He we come 2012.
So McCain is the nominee. And he will need to win some huge numbers among indys because even in red states, Dems are way more enthusiastic then Reps. Finally, I’d have to think that tonight Huck’s chances for VP just improved while TPaw’s just took a big hit since if he couldn’t even deliver a caucus against Mitt he won’t be able to do it in the general.
CA and MO both go to Mccain. McCain will be the nominee. I supported Romney. Disappointed but I plan to do everything in my power to help McCain be the next president.
CA called for McCain? Cue the Rombots! Someone needs to remind us how old, cranky, potty-mouthed, and unelectable Sen. McCain is, and how we missed our chance to nominate a “real” conservative etc., etc., and then remind us how they’re “out the door” or are going to vote for Sen. Clinton or something.
With the loss in California, Romney may have seen his last straw fall out of the range of his grasp. It would
seem hard for him to convince people that he has a legitimate reason for continuing in the race, sadly.
Romney needs to make CPAC his going out hoorah and then fall in line and campaign like crazy for McCain.
With any luck he will get be able to stay involved in national politics and rehab his image. It is entirely feasible that 4 years from now Romney being a “flip-flopper” will be old news. It won’t happen naturally but if Romney wants to take a shot at it he can rehab his image.
147 - I agree. Anyone who hasn’t noticed the Dem enthusiasm vs Repub turnout is missing the writing on the wall. So here we come 2012.
My final spin - this is wonderful news for Mitt. McCain will go down in 2008 and Mitt can turn back up in 2012 after the public tires of the Dems (after all, that’s what the public does every few years).
And I offer my congrats to McCainites - maybe in 6 months my wounds will heal enough to help you out…time will tell.
I’ve always liked Mitt, for the you Rombots who are saying that you’re ready to vote Libertarian simply because of one primary election, I say go ahead and get out of the party, you were never truly in it anyway.
Well congrats to Senator McCain. Mitt will press on, but i think it is safe to say that McCain will unfortunately be our nominee. Congrats to him and his supporters.
Civic - can I remind you how old, cranky, potty-mouthed, and unelectable George Burns is? and we missed our chance to nominate a “real” conservative in Napolean Dynamite. I am going to vote for Pedro!
pawlently got eliminated from the VP slot sweepstakes tonight. MCCAIN-GIULIANI (it was rudy who delivered the northeast, and rudy’s organization that won missouri and cali!!!)
Flee to Canada now, dude. It’s your only chance to avoid defending your country.
Sieg heil! Your life belongs to the state, asparagus! How silly of you to think that you should be allowed to have a choice as to whether you fight in a war or not.
#179, I agree with everything except campaign like crazy for McCain. He should congratulate him amd say he supports the Republican nominee but McCain was such an awful bastard that he should stay away from him because of that but mostly because McCain will lose and Romney doesn’t need to be associated with that.
#193 - it’s still possible. A couple more debate performances by McCain could doom his candidacy. He will avoid engagement with Romney and rely on his surrogates to get Romney to pull out. It will be interesting to see where the delegate count is tomorrow.
Depending on CA it looks like the delegate count will by Romney ~250-300, Huckabee ~200-250 and McCain ~600-700.
I think either way Romney needs to drop out after speaking at CPAC. He can’t win the nomination. It is impossible. He can’t get to 1190 and he would never win at a convention. If he kept fighting McCain it would be Kennedy in 1980 and be viewed negatively, not Reagan in 1976 when it was viewed as a noble fight.
The old guard chose the wrong candidate, you can’t take a guy with 2 decades of liberal policy and slide enough social lubricant on him to make him look conservative
Rudy will be the AG…no way the VP…Huck will be Sec of God…Chris Sec of Interior (Designers) Arnold will chair the special panel into Drugs and Steroids in Sports…and Mel Martinez will finsh the Bridge to Nowhere over the Rio Grande…
I think Mitt could take over the american auto industry and turn it around. Bring it back to life and bring back numerous jobs. What better intro to give him another shot in a future campaign?
Rudy will be the AG…no way the VP…Huck will be Sec of God…Chris Sec of Interior (Designers) Arnold will chair the special panel into Drugs and Steroids in Sports…and Mel Martinez will finsh the Bridge to Nowhere over the Rio Grande…
Prediction: Ann Coulter, Laura Ingrahm, Glen Beck, Rush Lardbottom, and Hugh Hewitt will join with Mitt and the Choir Rombotic will come together to endorse Billary’s attempt at a third term.
#213, appointed homosexual activists to the state supreme court, gun control, 5th highest tax burden in the nation, state sponsored abortion/medical plan …
212 - He could do that. The current gov of UT went to FL to campaign for McCain - despite the fact that his state will give Mitt 85% of its vote today.
Interesting results- I think Minnesota was an upset for Romney, Missouri wasn’t an “upset” but a very good win for Mac, and GA AL TN were big pickups for Huck. California will be very telling. I’m glad Mitt will press on, but it’s just so hard to fight all the media plus have a pseudo conservative peeling off some of your voters. I dislike McCain a lot- he needs to choose a good conservative for VP if he’s our nominee (he’s nowhere near the total in case people didn’t notice) in order to get this conservative voter. I’m proud of Mitt- I’m not willing to throw in the towel yet, just as he isn’t willing to do so. Everyone knew McCain would score big with NY, NJ, and CT being WTA, and winning Missouri didn’t help things. Even so, this isn’t over. VA, TX, OH, IN, WI, MD to name a few (esp. TX) all have to vote yet. I guess I shouldn’t read this site if I don’t want to have people jumping to conclusions every second of every day, but I find it to be a little immature. McCain is in a good place, I’ll grant you that. CA isn’t in yet though, and this isn’t the end of the race. Just chill, recognize all of the candidate’s victories and continue to root for your guy.
#213, appointed homosexual activists to the state supreme court, gun control, 5th highest tax burden in the nation, state sponsored abortion/medical plan …
That’s an unfair jab at Mitt, as judges are appointed by commission.
It’s much more fair to attack him for handing out fliers at gay pride parades and declaring statewide gay pride days.
Even though my vote won’t matter in AZ, I won’t vote for McCain no matter what.
People who vote for him based on the VP are crazy. Not only is McCain so dominating that the VP will have no role in the administration, but the VP will probably not be able to win re-election because 16 straight years is probably too much.
Let’s hold serve in the House and Senate, gain a little in 2010 and then retake Washington in 2012.
I am curious to how Romney came in third. Mike got basically the same amount of votes and both Mitt and Mike are out of the race now having split their states. Mike didn’t win anything except the evangelically strong states to he can’t be put into second either. John is the clear front runner with Mike and Mitt tied for third.
California is a major disappointment, and I thought Mitt would win Missouri and Georgia. These are the worst pieces of news on the evening. Aside from those 3 states, everything transpired the way I expected it to. Minnesota actually surprised me, because I wasn’t expecting a win there. I haven’t done the delegate math yet, but while it doesn’t look hopeless, it’s not all that encouraging yet either.
Best way for McCain to appease the conservatives is to give a great speech at CPAC next week, continue talking about GWOT and Iraq, and start really calling out Hillary/Obama on their current pandering to the left they use to secure the dem nomination.
Kelly…I disagree. JMAC needs to focus on more than the GWOT. He needs to explain his past of doing the DEM work and why he continues to do it (McCain-Lieberman)

Thank you Kavon. I was drowning in the sweat of the pressure of starting a new thread on such an important night in R408 history.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
anyone put together a delegate guestimate yet?
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
i think they’ll call MO for McCain any minute now… off to california!
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Thanks Kavon.
Didn’t know you were around… you’ve been awfully silent.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
McCain wins MO - this is the beginning of the end for Mitt Romney.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Notice McCain was the candidate who did not specify what he stands for, or appeal for votes.
He is a piss-poor candidate.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
GOP TOTALS (As of 11:15PM 02-05)
2/5 Overall
McCain 274 367
Romney 50 127
Huckabee 51 91
Paul 0 4
Others 0 7

I know it’s early, but so far McCain is killing Romney in California.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Go McCain!
February 5th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
BTW Kavon,
I notice you haven’t taken Rudy off the list of contenders yet…
Living in the past??

February 5th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Romney was close enough in all of these states that it is pretty clear he would have won CA, MO, GA and probably TN if he had won Florida.
That means Charlie Crist is public enemy number two, (after McCain of course).
February 5th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
I thought Metro liked McCain.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:56 pm

February 5th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
I agree - Crist’s meddling is upsetting.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
12, I got the feeling it may be just the part of the state that favors McCain reporting. I’m thinking the exit poll showed it relatively close.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
That is huge for McCain. A loss there really could have shaken things up. Well it looks like he will hold on in CA, thus, being our nominee. Hope I am wrong. Congrats to you McCain folks, this has been a fascinating campaign, the best in a long, long time.

Obama is giving a great speech.
If McCain holds on MO and CA…I think he has the nomination. Congrats.
I want all Mitt people, if McCain does the above, to support the GOP by voting against Hillary or Obama.
Fortunately, I live in AZ where I can still vote on principle.
WE all better pray that Hillary can knock out Obama, his speech tonight demonstrates how badly he would crush a McCAin campaign.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Relax folks…the california returns are mostly absentee at this point.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:01 am

How long before we really know about Cali?
Any ideas?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:07 am
Argamenon:
I don’t feel good about McCain against Obama right now, either, but good grief… Are you suggesting that Romney would actually fare better?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:07 am
How much a bet that the blond is Obama’s lover? Serious. She has major Monica-like attributes.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
My friends, yes we can!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Has Obama actually said anything?
has McCain?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Don’t say we ’cause if California doesn’t look good, I’m already out the door. Anyone with me? I mean, of all the gifted conservatives in this country, we are in serious danger of gettin, McCain? Romney is the dream candidate. And the country is wasting the opportunity.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
We need to beat the dems so we don’t become Europe!!!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Here’s one for ya: Obama is a hope-monger.
I’ve been referring to his supporters as “Hope Nazis” lately, but I think I’m going to swap that for “Obama cultists.” I’ve seen the phrase hope-monger, though.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
hey, CNN finally just called Montana for Mitt!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
so unless i’m reading this right, 0 third place finishes for McCain tonight (unless you count WV).
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
I also don’t want McCain or Huckabee because we would become Mini-Europe
February 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Obama wants unity…
…behind the Democratic agenda!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:09 am
we need a slogan…

2008- not an expert, but expect the result late in the night. even possible 2ET
February 6th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Thanks Man!
We have actually been well ahead of most every other outlet for this entire cycle
.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:09 am
86- Obama’s taking it to a sitting Washington insider senator. Let’s see - we the faithful GOP will give him another one so he can do it again in November!
Yes, I think Mitt is the one that can argue against Obama the best.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Fred Barnes: You don’t see girls like her at Republican rallies.
That’s because Republicans aren’t usually the type of people that vote for candidates based upon infantile platitudes.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Third party possibility? Dems, Republicans, and really conservative Republicans?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:10 am
McCain is going to get slaughtered in the debate with this guy
February 6th, 2008 at 12:10 am
I’m with you, TLG. I’m about your age and it’s especially disappointing to see so many college kids go ga-ga over the guy… I mean, I’m used to my peers being fairly liberal, but at least they’re usually cynical about that sort folksy, Oprah-esque “inspiring” mumbo-jumbo. I cringe every time I listen to the guy.

actually…the euro is pretty strong right now and Italian chicks are hot…hmmm….”Yes We Can”
February 6th, 2008 at 12:10 am
Wow! Montana went to Mitt? Thats a real delegate rich state.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:11 am
What is going on in CA? the polls have never been off this far.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:11 am
If its Huckabee vs. Obama, it will be a preach-off, evangelicals vs. the church of liberalism.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:11 am
The three most appealing traits that people see in Obama are youth/looks, charisma and smarts
McCain has none
Huck has charisma
Mitt has smarts, possibly looks
What should we do?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:11 am
It’s all fixed.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Megyn Kelly is hot…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Past Grover’s bedtime I noticed.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I’m with you, TLG. I’m about your age and it’s especially disappointing to see so many college kids go ga-ga over the guy… I mean, I’m used to my peers being fairly liberal, but at least they’re usually cynical about that sort folksy, Oprah-esque “inspiring†mumbo-jumbo.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
109 - Clinton was in fixing votes and decided to help out her friend John also.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Did you hear Kristol on FOX? Top 2 vote getters in the primaries…HRC #1 and #2, John McCain? NO Barak Obama. The R party is doomed. He we come 2012.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Megyn Kelly is moving towards me on TV. I love Fox News.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I’ve got to weigh in on the ‘Hope-monger’ line for Obama - I think Hope needs to stay with Huckabee. Raising hope = raising taxes
Obama is the ‘yes we candy man’ - you know, the guy who has all the kids following him around focused only on the candy being tossed out.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I have forced myself to remove and tear up my contacts to force myself to go to be now. To everyone, good night, well at least it is for McCain folks.

February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Again, Fox’s exit poll on CA was way off. It showed like a 5 pt McCain win if that. McCain’s winning by 19. WTF?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
171,000 total votes for Rudy
February 6th, 2008 at 12:12 am
#86
Romney is winning all the swing states. Huck is winning states that are solid red and McCain winning the ones that are solid blue. Huck could probably beat Obama but did you hear McCain’s speech? He’s Bob Dole part deux.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:13 am
The food is better too. And the public transit actually works. If only the tax burden were lighter.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Colorado for Romney
February 6th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Romney wins another caucus! Oh, boy!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:13 am
hahahah CNN reporter recapping McCain’s speech said that McCain used the ‘F’ word for the first time tonight… ‘F’ being ‘Frontrunner’.
You know that CNN is cracking up over that funny funny line. hahaha

February 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Fox called CA for JMAC
February 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
How the hell did they call it so quickly?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Hillary, McCain, it’s one and the same. I’m out the back door of this liberal bus. G’night.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
So much for that California upset, Rombots.
Your guy won a bunch of caucuses, Mormonland, and the state he governed. Good job?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Well if you want a Romney presidency it is a good thing that he is losing this nomination because it looks like we are going to get crushed in November.
Time to start organizing so we can hold Senate and House seats and regroup in 2010 and 2012. 1st priority going forward, make sure Mike Huckabee has no future in the 2012 race.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Fox called CA for McCain. Game. Set. Match. Lets get on with beating Hillary.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:15 am
CA for McCain on MSNBC

kavon (136) i have no clue, but i’m having flashbacks to florida 2000
February 6th, 2008 at 12:15 am
WIth the news in MO and CA it’s now time for Mitt Romney to concede.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Congrats to all the candidates. At the least everyone won somewhere
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
…Paging Eric Dondero (my official jihad target, if you’ll recall), admitted Rombot, who said yesterday that we shouldn’t nominate a guy that can’t win the California primary…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
drop out like yesterday Mitt Romney!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
I repeat…Did you hear Kristol on FOX? Top 2 vote getters in the primaries…HRC #1 and #2, John McCain? NO Barak Obama. The R party is doomed. He we come 2012.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
I am really blown away by how far ahead McCain is in CA.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
So McCain is the nominee. And he will need to win some huge numbers among indys because even in red states, Dems are way more enthusiastic then Reps. Finally, I’d have to think that tonight Huck’s chances for VP just improved while TPaw’s just took a big hit since if he couldn’t even deliver a caucus against Mitt he won’t be able to do it in the general.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
Time for McCain’s victory speech, read off the back of a Walmart reciept, where he thanks his significant other Huckabee.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:16 am
139 - I’ll give you an amen to that! (no Mike again)
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
CA and MO both go to Mccain. McCain will be the nominee. I supported Romney. Disappointed but I plan to do everything in my power to help McCain be the next president.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
MAC HAS DONE IT! HE HAS WON THE NOMINATION! LICK MY BALLS RUSH LIMBUAGH! ON YOUR KNEES MITT ROMNEY!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
Congrats McCain supporters from a Romney supporter. (Biting lip…hard)
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
Aye yay yay… Looks like the folks that called MO for Hillary screwed up.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
I am guessing the counties that Mitt was supposed to get came in for McCain so they are giving it to him so early?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
CA called for McCain? Cue the Rombots! Someone needs to remind us how old, cranky, potty-mouthed, and unelectable Sen. McCain is, and how we missed our chance to nominate a “real” conservative etc., etc., and then remind us how they’re “out the door” or are going to vote for Sen. Clinton or something.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:17 am
How in the hell did the pollsters get it so wrong in CA?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
third party here I come…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
The Republican party is toast in ‘08. I wonder how long it will take for us to rebound.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
How do we click the “abuse” button for #153?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
MAC HAS DONE IT! HE HAS WON THE NOMINATION! LICK MY BALLS RUSH LIMBUAGH! ON YOUR KNEES MITT ROMNEY!
Ew.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
With the loss in California, Romney may have seen his last straw fall out of the range of his grasp. It would
seem hard for him to convince people that he has a legitimate reason for continuing in the race, sadly.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
ABC calling CA for McCain and Clinton already
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Grover71 - I’m with you. No way I’ll vote for McCain.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Well, time to support McCain. Perpetual war and amnesty in 2008. Wonder what my draft number will be?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Erik….I am not sure. But frtunately, the GOP is behind McCain ecause the same pollsters have him winning 8 months out!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Chill.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
peace out mitt. finally
February 6th, 2008 at 12:18 am
#161 ya he is a loser.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
well i’m out. have a good night everyone. sorry i was messing with you billy V, i’m sure i’ll see you around DC.
Say hello to president Obama.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
What a great night for Romney!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
LOL, if 10% of California didn’t vote for Rudy Mitt may have had a chance
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
There is not enough support for McCain and the Dems will have no part of war. McCain will NEVER be the POTUS.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
Thanks JB, you are welcome on the McCain Express. We are still the big Republican party we always have been
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
Time to start learning spanish. McCain/Huckabee 2008: Press 2 for English.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
#157 - stay tuned in November. It will be embarrassing for the Republican party.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:19 am
I would support McCain. McCain-Huckabee. That makes it a lot harder and will truly end true conservatism.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Romney needs to make CPAC his going out hoorah and then fall in line and campaign like crazy for McCain.
With any luck he will get be able to stay involved in national politics and rehab his image. It is entirely feasible that 4 years from now Romney being a “flip-flopper” will be old news. It won’t happen naturally but if Romney wants to take a shot at it he can rehab his image.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
OK, we’re gonna lose this November, so let’s just pick a Dem.
Go Hillary!
I so loathe Obama and want to see him crushed that I’m seriously passionate about Hillary over the past week.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Allright! Go McCAin!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Missiour Goes McCain.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
147 - I agree. Anyone who hasn’t noticed the Dem enthusiasm vs Repub turnout is missing the writing on the wall. So here we come 2012.
My final spin - this is wonderful news for Mitt. McCain will go down in 2008 and Mitt can turn back up in 2012 after the public tires of the Dems (after all, that’s what the public does every few years).
And I offer my congrats to McCainites - maybe in 6 months my wounds will heal enough to help you out…time will tell.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Flee to Canada now, dude. It’s your only chance to avoid defending your country.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Given our performance in power, we have earned a significant defeat.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:20 am
I’ve always liked Mitt, for the you Rombots who are saying that you’re ready to vote Libertarian simply because of one primary election, I say go ahead and get out of the party, you were never truly in it anyway.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Well congrats to Senator McCain. Mitt will press on, but i think it is safe to say that McCain will unfortunately be our nominee. Congrats to him and his supporters.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
With any luck McCain will be in the old president’s home just after 2 years in office, and Huck can run 2 more times after taking the reigns
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Civic - can I remind you how old, cranky, potty-mouthed, and unelectable George Burns is? and we missed our chance to nominate a “real” conservative in Napolean Dynamite. I am going to vote for Pedro!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Time for the Rombots to fold their arch-conservative *snort* pup-tent and join the three-card monte con artists at Atlantic City, I suppose.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
pawlently got eliminated from the VP slot sweepstakes tonight. MCCAIN-GIULIANI (it was rudy who delivered the northeast, and rudy’s organization that won missouri and cali!!!)
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Newt 2012….
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
One last check…Anyone think that this will go to the convention?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Flee to Canada now, dude. It’s your only chance to avoid defending your country.
Sieg heil! Your life belongs to the state, asparagus! How silly of you to think that you should be allowed to have a choice as to whether you fight in a war or not.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:21 am
The old guard Republicans need to move on…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:22 am
#193, I think the deal is sealed
February 6th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Kavon: Will you delete #168 and ban Civic Virtue from the site!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:22 am
#179, I agree with everything except campaign like crazy for McCain. He should congratulate him amd say he supports the Republican nominee but McCain was such an awful bastard that he should stay away from him because of that but mostly because McCain will lose and Romney doesn’t need to be associated with that.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:22 am
JamesB, he was quoting it, you fool. Read!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
With John getting both Missouri and the Cali win that gave an extra boost that makes any chance for Mike or Mitt very improbable.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Tonight was the be-all-end-all, the other Republican primaries are mop up operations for McCain, the 2008 Republican Nominee
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
#193 - it’s still possible. A couple more debate performances by McCain could doom his candidacy. He will avoid engagement with Romney and rely on his surrogates to get Romney to pull out. It will be interesting to see where the delegate count is tomorrow.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Congrats to McCain…
Mitt should bow out during CPAC after giving a great speech. Begin prep for 2012, it will be tough to tak eon an incumbent Dem.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Depending on CA it looks like the delegate count will by Romney ~250-300, Huckabee ~200-250 and McCain ~600-700.
I think either way Romney needs to drop out after speaking at CPAC. He can’t win the nomination. It is impossible. He can’t get to 1190 and he would never win at a convention. If he kept fighting McCain it would be Kennedy in 1980 and be viewed negatively, not Reagan in 1976 when it was viewed as a noble fight.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:23 am
The old guard chose the wrong candidate, you can’t take a guy with 2 decades of liberal policy and slide enough social lubricant on him to make him look conservative
February 6th, 2008 at 12:24 am
http://race42008.com/2007/12/19/great-video-of-the-romney-family-sledding/ Here you go, Rombots…

#197, grow up - he quoted a blow hard - chill out.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:24 am
McCain Sanford!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Any ideas what Romney could do post primary?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Rudy will be the AG…no way the VP…Huck will be Sec of God…Chris Sec of Interior (Designers) Arnold will chair the special panel into Drugs and Steroids in Sports…and Mel Martinez will finsh the Bridge to Nowhere over the Rio Grande…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Congrats to McCain and his supporters. Well to everyone but sampo, you aren’t gracious enough to be congratulated.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:25 am

February 6th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Any ideas what Romney could do post primary?
Run for governor of Utah?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:25 am
Stimple…are you a dumb ass?? What liberal policy did Mitt do in office?
Amnesty? Break the law? Destroy 1st Amendment? Destroy businesses with cap/trade?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:25 am
206 lol.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
I think Mitt could take over the american auto industry and turn it around. Bring it back to life and bring back numerous jobs. What better intro to give him another shot in a future campaign?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Rudy will be the AG…no way the VP…Huck will be Sec of God…Chris Sec of Interior (Designers) Arnold will chair the special panel into Drugs and Steroids in Sports…and Mel Martinez will finsh the Bridge to Nowhere over the Rio Grande…
Who the hell’s Chris?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
McCain and Clinton already projected to win Cali. Go Mitt!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Prediction: Ann Coulter, Laura Ingrahm, Glen Beck, Rush Lardbottom, and Hugh Hewitt will join with Mitt and the Choir Rombotic will come together to endorse Billary’s attempt at a third term.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Dear Moron: I was asking the other contributor to chill out.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Sorry, take over one of the companies of in the auto industry…..
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Crist…the closet homosexual FLA gov
February 6th, 2008 at 12:26 am
McCain is doomed either way, but my guess is that he takes Sanford as his VP.
Whether it is true or not, I don’t know. But Sanford certainly does have a reputation of being across the board conservative.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
#216, Crist, I think?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
#213, appointed homosexual activists to the state supreme court, gun control, 5th highest tax burden in the nation, state sponsored abortion/medical plan …
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
#206 TLG you crack me up! I have to admit I have brawled with you a time or two but you are a cool kid.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
Crist…the closet homosexual FLA gov
Crist is not “Chris”.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
Romney will be enjoying his millions of money at his beautiful home in New Hampshire…..
…….while McCain is getting killed by Barack Obama.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
212 - He could do that. The current gov of UT went to FL to campaign for McCain - despite the fact that his state will give Mitt 85% of its vote today.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
Is Romney done now?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:27 am
#207 Brett - I don’t care who he quoted, it doesn’t belong on this site - delete it.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am

cv - Did you say “Dear Mormon” - WTF?? boot him, stone him…oh i’m sorry you didn’t say that.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
#230 it looks as if we’re finally rid of him
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
#218, Hugh Hewitt has already stated that he will support Sen. McCain or whoever the GOP nominee would be.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Karl Rove says that Romney will likely come in 3rd tonight… does that mean it is a 2 person race still? Huckabee v. McCain?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Stimple…obviously you are a dumb ass. MA law, how was the tax burden compared to when he started, and again MA law.
Also…Don’t know if Sanford gets the nod, he didn’t endorse mcCAin in SC, which would have sealed the deal
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
i feel like i get smarter the more karl rove talks.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Rudy will be the AG…no way the VP…Huck will be Sec of God…Chris Sec of Interior (Designers) Arnold will chair the special panel into Drugs and Steroids in Sports…and Mel Martinez will finsh the Bridge to Nowhere over the Rio Grande…

Also, we prefer the term “gay”.

California called for McCain - it is over McCain will be the nominee…
February 6th, 2008 at 12:29 am
#206 TLG you crack me up! I have to admit I have brawled with you a time or two but you are a cool kid.
Why, thank you.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:29 am
I am not voting for John McCain. I will vote third party. I am with Rush.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Even though my vote won’t matter in AZ, I won’t vote for McCain no matter what.
People who vote for him based on the VP are crazy. Not only is McCain so dominating that the VP will have no role in the administration, but the VP will probably not be able to win re-election because 16 straight years is probably too much.
Let’s hold serve in the House and Senate, gain a little in 2010 and then retake Washington in 2012.

I really don’t know how much John Stimple adds to the site either. Let’s boot him too.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
I am a Romney supporter who will now support McCain!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
#244, oh no we disagree with this guy, lets censor him
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
It sounds like Romney will drop out this week, on MSNBC
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
well, since we are now censoring people, who else should go? Kavon? Me? sampo?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Even though it doesn’t matter, I wonder why AK hasn’t come in for the GOP when it has for the Dems.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:31 am
I am curious to how Romney came in third. Mike got basically the same amount of votes and both Mitt and Mike are out of the race now having split their states. Mike didn’t win anything except the evangelically strong states to he can’t be put into second either. John is the clear front runner with Mike and Mitt tied for third.

If JMac Is Good Enough For McCain… Then McCain Is Good Enough For Me!!!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Hola Passmore, our candidate showed well tonight
February 6th, 2008 at 12:31 am
well, since we are now censoring people, who else should go? Kavon? Me? sampo?
I deserve to be censored, for slandering the name of the Lord.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
In my 253, I was referring to Mitt Romney, by the way.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
I mean if he is good enough for Cali… he is good enough for me… ahhhhh!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
OUCH!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
I am very pleased indeed Stimple
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
I mentioned Oreos on here once. Maybe I should be removed.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
California is a major disappointment, and I thought Mitt would win Missouri and Georgia. These are the worst pieces of news on the evening. Aside from those 3 states, everything transpired the way I expected it to. Minnesota actually surprised me, because I wasn’t expecting a win there. I haven’t done the delegate math yet, but while it doesn’t look hopeless, it’s not all that encouraging yet either.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:32 am
Best way for McCain to appease the conservatives is to give a great speech at CPAC next week, continue talking about GWOT and Iraq, and start really calling out Hillary/Obama on their current pandering to the left they use to secure the dem nomination.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Case… a strong case can be made that Ron Paul was the real winner tonight!
February 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Pat Buchannan says Romney will not drop..
February 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Tommy,
Where are you getting that info?
February 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
I am alright censoring Sampo, he is a waste of virtual space.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
263 - MSNBC - Yang reported it..
February 6th, 2008 at 12:34 am
256 - please don’t call Mitt Romney a used carsalesman… he is not worthy of that label.
February 6th, 2008 at 12:34 am
Kelly…I disagree. JMAC needs to focus on more than the GWOT. He needs to explain his past of doing the DEM work and why he continues to do it (McCain-Lieberman)
February 6th, 2008 at 12:34 am
MarkG
I chuckle everytime you call Mitt something like a Used car salesman yet give a pass to Mike.
