Somethings Shouldn’t Need To Be Said

But when you’re dealing with a guy of this caliber I guess it does:

Today, Mitt Romney announced that he will no longer seek the Republican nomination for President. I wish Mitt and his family all the best.

Over the past year, Mitt and his entire family have sacrificed a lot during the course of his campaign and for that, we should all be appreciative of their service and dedication.

As a true authentic, consistent, conservative, I have a vision to bring hope, opportunity and prosperity to all Americans, and I’d like to ask for and welcome the support of those who had previously been committed to Mitt.

Do I even need to comment on this. Mike Huckabee asks for Romney’s support, then takes the parting shot that we have heard aimed at Mitt all campaign season?

Here are the reasons why Romney supporters will not be jumping on the the Huckabee tugboat:

1. The Guy threw the anti-Mormon book at Mitt. Both himself, Huck’s Army and his “Pastoral” Network. It’s a no deal from the get go. Don’t argue this point Huck people, it’s indefensible.

2. Most Romney people like ethics in government, something Huck does not.

3. Most Romney people prefer substance over fluff.

4. Huckabee is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, let alone a consistent one.

5. Most Romney supporters don’t like religious tests for setting prisoners free.

6. Huckabee has been a tool the entire campaign. What is his reasoning at this point? Romney supporters can help him become VP? Excuse me while I ROFL.

7. An inability to complete masters degree program leaves one unfit to command the largest branch of government and be leader of the free world. This isn’t an election for Chief of Good Humor.

8. Most Romney supporters reject the idea of charging $35,000 a Sunday to preach while running for office.

I don’t even need to ask Romney supporters to avoid Huckabee. Governor Huckabee, just drop out as you look foolish. No offense to Huckabee supporters, I just think Huck looks a bit naive at this point.

With that I take the weekend off from blogging, and will begin the arduous process of cleaning all my old Buick parts out of my basement. Cya, Monoday folks.

jason, you want a tissue as you whine over Romney’s miserable showing? Suck-it-up and be a man.

  2. Truth Says:

For the record, Romney supporters are venturing over to http://www.mikehuckabee.com–this refutes your post. Go to the website and check-out the posts for yourself.

  3. sampo Says:

Jason, there is no whining in politics.

…As a true authentic, consistent, conservative, I have a vision to bring hope,

those were Mitt’s talking points thru his entire campaign.

  4. joe c. Says:

some people will make the switch. but not many. and huckabee remains the second biggest douche to run for president this year . John edwards record for douchiness will probably never be broken, but huck came close. huck represents the worst of what the republican party has become. the “idiot vote” the “jesus freaks” the hillbilly types who don’t believe in evolution. I’m not saying thats what all his supporters are, but thats how he came across to the average person, and it doesn’t do the party any favors.

  5. Joseph Says:

Get this CRAP off of here immediately!

This is the reason no one can stand you bigot mormons!

  6. mike Says:

Looks like truth is talking to himself.

I love how Huckabee needs to define himself because his actions don’t…much like truth calls himself truth.

Huckabee has lied with a smile all through this election…if that is christian, I choose not to be labeled christian…just call me a follower of Christ, thanks.

  7. alaska jake Says:

    5. . . You do realize how dumb that sentence sounds, don’t you?

  9. joe c. Says:

i don’t like most hate posts, but i think this one is warranted, and here’s why: Huck is begging for romney’s supporters. the post is explaining why that wouldn’t happen. its not a hate post for no reason, its an explanation and a response to something the huckabee campaign did.

  10. elly Says:

Quit the whining Jason. I agree with Joseph, get this bigot mormon stuff off of here.

  11. fran Says:

I Mitt supporters wanted to support a campaign that has no chance of winning, they would simply keep sending money and votes to Mitt. Why would they move over to Huckabee?

    The contest is over.

It is about as conceivable that Romney get the 60% of the delegates needed to force a brokered convention as it is for Huck.

  12. Jess @ Making Home Says:

What an absurd assessment. And your #1 shows what you’re really mad about and why the hatred is just pouring off the page here…

Huck has a lot to offer, and for all the hatred that has been evidenced between McCain and Romney, it’s no wonder a lot of his supporters are headed over to Huck’s site to learn more about him. Whether you do or not, the average Romney voter finds more in common with Huck than with McCain. Get your head out of the political-pundit sand and look around.

  13. JamesB Says:

Sampo – you just need to shut up. McCain is going to need every vote he can get – your not going to help him with your Mitt bashing.

  14. Tier Says:

    Joseph #5.
Your pathetic. Grow up one day. It’ll be good for you.

  15. Sean I Says:

Truth, a few posts on a website does not a movement make. Take a class in statistical analysis and sample size and generalizeability.

The “truth” is that Romney won 11 states, McCain 13, and Huckabee . . .? Six? Romney won twice as many states, as well as many more delegates and votes, than Huckabee to this point in the race. You only make yourself foolish by suggesting Romney has not accomplished a great deal in this race. Huckabee has accomplished a great deal too, you don’t have to bash the one to respect the other, or, well . . . I guess YOU do.

And the truth is that the Republican party needs the South and the West, both, to win the nomination for President. I don’t have to bash Huckabee to look at how he’d do in helping to get the West. Look at Super Tuesday and Nevada and Wyoming. He got beat like a drum. Romney, at least, was competitive all across the South, losing by slim margins only in Georgia, Florida, and other Southern states.

McCain’s campaign has been disrespectful to Romney . . . but I think people see it as politics. Huckabee’s campaign has been petty and prejudicial to Romney . . . but I think people see it as contemptible. That’s why Romney supporters will likely break for McCain, not Huckabee, by and large. Just saying.

  16. elly Says:

    Sean I,

Romney won 11 states at the cost of $100 million dollars, Huck won six at the cost of $10 million. Hmmm, lets think about that one.

  17. Deotch Says:

    #4

joe c. is a prophet. The evangelicals are RUINING the Republican party.

  18. JamesB Says:

You Huck supporters are delusional. Huckabee has no class and no support outsite the evangelical south. He’s

  19. Tier Says:

    Elly,
You just don’t get it do you. What a shame…. Your cluless

  20. jawbone Says:

i move to have truth banned…he rarely adds to the discussion and is quite derogatory in his commentary

  21. Deotch Says:

    #16

He won the south, in some cases by less than 2 points. He won in every state that REFUSES to catch up to modern Republican ideals. I think this is good for us, for Huck to still be in, its very telling as to the current state of affairs in our party, and its humbling to know that we are just as susceptible to our own brand of idiots as the Democrats were back in ‘00 and ‘04 when put up the likes of Howard Dean and John Kerry, who were FAR too leftward to appeal to a broad base of the population (i.e. in swing states like OH and FL).

  22. Deotch Says:

    #20

Banning him won’t accomplish anything. I welcome his diatribes, its helpful to the more moderate amongst us (a demographic which far outnumbers the Hucknuts) to make decisions. When you see things like his statements it makes it easier to justify my support for Guiliani or Romney to begin with.

  23. sampo Says:

    heh heh,
Hugh Hewitt told the “Romney haters” to “take a vacation”

  24. QuacknHack Says:

I remember the dark days leading up to IA, when it seemed that Huck could lie his way out of anything and that he could lie much faster than AR conservatives like me could ever tell the truth.

How the world has changed in the last several weeks. Everyone knows what a leftist tool and self promoting money grubbing fool Huckabee is.

  25. Sterling Says:

I can pinch my nose and vote for McCain even though I do not completely agree with him. But, I will never, ever vote for Huckabee. I just can’t do it.

McCain had better NOT select Huck as a VP otherwise he too will lose my vote.

  26. SGS Says:

Sampo, you idiot who cannot read right. Huckabee was one who said the quoted part (grayed area). He (meaning Huckabee, if you still cannot read it right) was one who said “As a true authentic, consistent, conservative, I have a vision to bring hope”. So, yes, Jason was justified in going after Huckabee when he is trying to get us Rombots to vote for him.

  27. Paul S Says:

    AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    P.S. Told you so.

  28. cwpete Says:

Romney attacked Huckabee on his record as governor which is permissible in my book. Huckabee then attacks Romney on religious grounds which is never permissible.

Sorry, I could never support such a candidate.

  29. Chad Says:

    Edit: Don’t come back Chad.-KWN

  30. Sean I Says:

Elly, you just made the point about why Huckabee’s campaign can’t reliably expect a lot of Romney supporters to cross over. Romney supporters do not somehow find it immediately offensive that an American who succeeds in the business world chooses to spend money in pursuit of a political office or cause. Romney supporters actually believe in free enterprise, economic success, and freedom of speech and opportunity. Huckabee, on the other hand, yammers constantly on class warfare themes and beats up Wall Street (65% of Americans are invested through Wall Street, by the way), yaks about Mitt and “his millions,” and makes classless comments about anyone succeeding economically. THAT offends me, and I’m no millionaire!!

If Huckabee wants to spend money on his campaign, then he should earn the financial support and contributions of tens of thousands of supporters. Just pull an Obama. Obama is no wealthy candidate. He just happens to connect with people and they give him million os dollars for his campaign. Huckabee whines incessantly about it, why doesn’t he just raise the money he needs? If he’s so good at connecting with the average Joe, then they should all come out of the woodwork and send him money and support him. Everybody supporting Huckabee yammers about how he’s a “real guy” and connects with real people – where’s the dough? Why don’t his supporters throw money at him like they do Obama?

These are some of the real reasons why Romney supporters roll their eyes at this pitch from Huckabee.

  31. elly Says:

Mormon Bigots post on this site and it is quite hilarious.

  32. alaska jake Says:

I think Chad forgot to take his pills today. He might wanna double dose.

  33. Sean I Says:

Chad, that kind of post puts you in hell already – sad that your world revolves around that kind of crap.

  34. sampo Says:

    Chad just wants attention.

  35. Jason Bonham Says:

    29. Looks like I made a good point. :)

  36. Nate G. Says:

FYI Huckabee supporters: To back up Jason’s claim above, Romney supporters are breaking for McCain over Huckabee 4-1. The tally so far out of 166 votes: McCain 133, Huckabee 33.

    The poll: http://blog.electromneyin2008.com/2008/02/07/aftermath-polls/

  37. cwpete Says:

Huckabee has achieved his purpose, he has successfully divided the conservative vote so McCain would win. It is laughable that he can claim to be for conservatism now that he has enabled a McCain nomination.

Since Huckabee succeeded largely by outlining religious differences, he is a fool to think he will get support from those who despise religious bating. This has no part in the Republican party. It should have not part with politics in general.

    Good riddance Huckabee.

  38. cwpete Says:

Chad just proves my concerns regarding Mike Huckabee and many of his supporters.

I hope his comment #29 stands and does not get removed, it serves a purpose.

  39. sampo Says:

Holy Cow! Hell froze over. He claimed McCain’s CPAC speech drove him to tears.

  40. sampo Says:

    *He = Hugh Hewitt.

  41. Truth Says:

Can anyone name one thing that Huckabee or his campaign has said about Mormonism that is unfactual? Moreover, can anyone find a case where Gov. Huckabee spoke abour Mormonism without being asked a question first? The LDS should not be so sensitive about their faith being examined. Gov. Huckabee has been asked countless questions about his faith, and he and his supporters don’t cry bigot.

  42. Truth Says:

Chad, cut that shit out. You are a fool.

  43. Truth Says:

I challenge anyone on this site to go to http://www.mikehuckabee.com, go to the issues page, and find an issue you can call a “liberal position.”

  44. alaska jake Says:

Truth. . . Wow. If that’s your defense of Huck’s religious intolerance – that he was just answering questions – and Mormons shouldn’t be so sensitive when a candidate for president slurs their fundamental religious beliefs, well then I guess you’ll just never get it.

  45. Nate G. Says:

41- Huckabee attack mormonism himself directly – he allows his supporters to do it for him. The comments on his official blogs is full of anti-mormon rhetoric.

  46. Truth Says:

#45 Romney would have been in trouble if he was held to all his supporters posts. You know better than to use this line of reasoning.

  47. bethtopaz Says:

Jason, take care and get some good rest. I know I am exhausted today and I worked anywhere near as hard as you and others have.

Mitt’s speech today was awesome and inspiring. He is such a stellar leader.

I do have hope when I hear Romney say that he will back to CPAC again and again and working hard to put the conservative principles that have made this country strong — forward in the next four years.

  48. Nate G. Says:

Romney would not allow that on his official site. That is the big difference.

  49. CT Says:

5 Just a thought…..why does everyone assume that if you supported Romeny you had to be a mormon???
16 And I don’t see anyone having a problem with Obama and Hillary spending more money in the primary than Mitt and they both have been given free and positive MSM.
Most people were absolutly amazed at the bigotry in this election period. At least the Dems who everyone assumes are less religious than the right can accept a woman and a black. I’m glad to see that religous bigotry is alive and well with the CHRISTIANS, the huckaBAN movement is as damaging as the religous bigoted TALABAN.
I WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR RUDY, THOMPSON, TANCREDO, AND ROMNEY BUT NEVER NEVER NEVER HUCK. He has damaged religion in america and to repair it will take a very very long time.

  50. alaska jake Says:

    43. . . You aren’t grasping this, truth. You can post Huck’s website 5000 more times, it won’t change anything. Huck’s problem isn’t an issue-oriented one. It’s a problem of his actual record and his actual words. On paper he’s a somewhat acceptable candidate. In practice, he’s completely unacceptable to most every Romney supporter. Simple as that.

  51. bethtopaz Says:

#39 – Sampo, you must have a man-crush on Hugh Hewitt. You hang on his every word. ;)

  52. Truth Says:

#47 Romney did not allow posts on his website.

  53. Nate G. Says:

Truth, take a look at the five brothers blog. They would never allow for anything like that to appear on there. They filter comments just like Huckabee’s site does. They choose not to allow disgraceful comments to appear, while Huckabee does because it benefits him.

  54. bethtopaz Says:

#47 – correction “I didn’t work anywhere near as hard as you.”

  55. cwpete Says:

“Moreover, can anyone find a case where Gov. Huckabee spoke abour Mormonism without being asked a question first?”

Yes, He suggested to a NY Times reporter that “don’t Mormons believe that Satan & Jesus are brothers?” ..without be asked. Again, he was not asked that. He just planted that misinterpretation by making the unsolicited comment with the hopes that the NY Times would run with it.

Look, none of this religious discussion has any place in the context of a presidential race. The baptist minister could not be successful in IA and the South without highlighting irrelevant religious differences. That I find patently offensive.

  56. Nate G. Says:

    Truth-

    http://fivebrothers.mittromney.com/

It’s the official blog of the campaign, and YES, it does have comments, and YES it is devoid of disparaging remarks about other candidates.

  57. Jake Benson Says:

Your arguments about anti-Mormon bias is stupid. Sure it exists. So does anti-Christian bias from Mormons. Chew on this: Utah voted 92% Romney and 2% Huckabee. You don’t see that much bias from Christians against Romney.

  58. Psycheout Says:

Your unhinged rant should make you feel ashamed. Do you read before you post? Do you proofread?

Why is this spittle flecked post on the front page.

Romney supporters can choose between McCain and Huckabee without your rambling rant full of hatred and bile.

I am embarassed for you. You do need to take a time out. I hope you are better after a rest.

  59. Nate G. Says:

Jake – I didn’t say anything about anti-mormon bias. I was making the argument that Huckabee allowed anti-mormon rhetoric on his site.

  60. Truth Says:

#57 Wait, I thought Mormons were Christians . . . . So, 92% of Christians voted for Christian Romney. Right?

  61. Psycheout Says:

I don’t see Huckabee or McCain supporters writing anger filled diatribes like this.

Case in point: Mike Huckabee: The Last Conservative Standing.

Show a little class. It will serve you well.

  62. Tyrone Says:

    This is funny!!

  63. Rafael Says:

The reporter kept pressing Mike Huckabee about what he thought of Mormonism. Huckabee asked him that question because he didn’t
know anything about Mormonsm and the reporter said that he had studied comparative religion. It was a casual conversation and
Mike didn’t know that he was going to print that part.

  64. G Says:

Clearly Utahns didn’t have a problem voting for Bush … is he a Christian?

Seriously, how dumb is this argument: Huck insults mormons … mormons don’t vote for Huck, therefore, mormons are biased against Huck.

Mormons have no problems voting for Catholics, Mormons, or Protestants. But don’t expect them to vote for someone who runs an anti-Mormon campaign just to prove how tolerant they are.

  65. Jason Bonham Says:

    Psycheout,

Last I checked the purpose of a blog is to share your opinions. Sorry you don’t aprove of a blogging format.

Gotta go, see you guys on Monday.

  66. G Says:

Clearly Utahns didn’t have a problem voting for Bush … is he a Christian?

  67. Nate G. Says:

Psycheout- You want to talk about class? Didn’t you write the article below 6 months ago? It is the most classless thing I have ever seen!

    http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/mitt-romney-dont-talk-about-my-religion/

  68. cwpete Says:

I remember that post Nate #67. That post offended me so much I made a comment #62 there as I could not let it stand uncontested.

That was the post that relegated Sam Brownback & his supporters to the same level as Huckabee in my mind.

That was truly one awful post.

  69. Psycheout Says:

I’m honored that you have read some of my posts, Nate, even going back six months. I’m not sure what you find classless about that particular post, but you are free to find it so.

It certainly wasn’t written in anger and I did proofread it. :-D

I did understand that it might be controversial, but it seemed important enough to write about and encourage discussion on the issue.

  70. Tier Says:

Wow Psycheout…read your article…Your a sad and pathetic little man. I cannot tolerate how someone can have so much hate for another human being’s view. Absolutely despicable.

  71. John S. Says:

    Psycheout
Wow your post bleeds with bigotry and hatred of all LDS.

  72. Howard Says:

Someone should tell the group that’s doing Huckabee’s push polling that Romney’s out of the running. I got a push poll here in Washington State this afternoon…which did a lot to polarize me against a ticket with Huckabee on it.

You are a ignorant peice of @#$@. You know the TRUTH you just can’t admit it which makes you alot like your candidate.

Do you want to get into a religious discusion? We can go threw the Mormon thing and the reason there is a Southern Baptist Convention and it will be a good time. The Southern Baptists are the fine people that stand outside Mormon functions and tel them as the enter or exit that they are all going to Hell etc………

    Your a joke

  74. Kelly Says:

    Truth

Tell me what your definition of “Christian” is? How do Christians act and treat other people?

  75. Truth Says:

It just takes mentioning the word Mormon on this blog and everyone goes ape-****. Calm down people. Many Christians do not consider Mormons to be Christians–that is OK. You can still practice your religion without their “approval.” Many Mormons want to be considered Christians–that is O.K. too, just be prepared for some people to take disagreement with this.

    Kelly,
Christians believe that there is one God and only one God. They believe in the Trinity–the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the three personages of the one true God. The believe that man was created and fell from God’s will and that onlly through the saving work of Jesus Christ are we able to enter into God’s presence. They believe the Bible is the Word of God and that it’s content is complete. Christians are supposed to live the life of Christ loving each other and God’s creation and spreading the Gospel to all corners of the World.

  76. John S. Says:

    Truth
    I heard it said once
“Are there those that know you that don’t know Christ, that want to know Christ because they know you. I would have to say “Truth” if you are a “Christian” then that is something that I want no part of. You sir are not representing the person that you so call represent.

  77. Truth Says:

John S.. How am i not representing Christ? A Christian who believes that Christ is the Son of Man and the only True path to salvation is bound to preach this Truth in Love. I would not be loving if I did not point this out.

  78. JohnnyG Says:

Reading threads like this make me hate all religious people. And I’m a devout believer.

  79. Truth Says:

    JohnnyG, why are you offended?

  80. Phanekim Says:

As one of the dems here, I hate to say it but Mitt was beat up by all sides this election season. I think West Virginia was a classic example too. Don’t get me wrong, politics is a nasty game and one should be prepared for it. But damn, just watching as an impartial observer during this whole cycle, Romney definately got the worst of it. And Huck definately dished a lot of it out too.

  81. Kelly Says:

    Truth
Why was the Southern Baptist convention formed?

Is Jesus the son of God or is he God?

You say: “Christians are supposed to live the life of Christ loving each other and God’s creation and spreading the Gospel to all corners of the World.” Is that why people like you and Huckabee protest at Mormon functions?

  82. John S. Says:

    Truth
Christ also said their lips draw near to me but their hearts are far from me. I have seen Muslims that act more Christian than you.
Your actions speak so loudly I can hardly hear a word that you say.

  83. redbmsky Says:

For Somebody (Huckabee) whose stump speech was ” I will tell you why NOT to vote for Romney and what is WRONG with Romney…instead of why HE HIMSELF is a viable candidate…that speaks legions to the Pro-Romney crowd. When asked why he does not speak the same way about McCain, “Well, the reason Romney is a terrible choice for President…(blah blah blah).” The guy didn’t really have anything to say.

Frankly, Huckabee’s sole purpose seemed to have been to put and cut Romney down. Sorry, but when someone acts that way towards your candidate – teams up on them during debates – makes snide remarks when around him…then pro Romney people will NOT vote for him.

The reason Fred’s people went nicely over to Romney’s crowd, was because Romney was very decent to Fred.

I can’t believe Huckabee had the GAUL to ask for the pro-Romney support when he has treated our candidate like dirt.

Sorry, Huckabee – I know MANY MANY MANY pro-Romney people that will not be hopping on your wagon!

  84. G Says:

Truth, i’m not going to debate what a Christian is or is not on this site, but i will say that people have to right to stand up to others misrepresenting their views and denigrating their beliefs.

I don’t need your approval, but don’t think for a second that you should be able to tell if I do or do not believe in Christ.

  85. Truth Says:

    Kelly and John S.,
You ask good questions. Jesus was God in human form. Only by living the perfect life and undergoing death on the cross was He able to free humans from their sins. Without Christ’s death, God could not be both just and loving. By beleiving in Christ and accepting His life as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, we are able to enter God’s presence. God demands perfection and it was only through Christ perfect life and penalty of death that humans are righteous in God’s sight. That’s the beauty of Christianity, Chris lived the perfect life so we do not have to. Once one understands the ultimate sacrifice God made, a person’s heart will change and their thoughts, actions, and motivations will begin to reflect Christ’s. I have no ill will to Mormons. Rather, I want people to understand why the Gospel is “Good News.” It’s Good News because God in human form, Jesus, lived the perfect life and paid our penatly of death so that we can experience his abundand love. If you want, I can give you my e-mail address to we can carry on this discussion more privately. I know that many Christians do not reflect the teaching of Christ. I find this just as sad as you do, but Christ claims must be examined separately from Christians who do not reflect His Character.

  86. Greg Says:

Huckabee just wanted to divide the conservative vote so that McCain could win, and now he is worried that he will not be fairly rewarded for his work as McCain’s lap dog. This is so funny. It actually has me with a big grin on my face. Huckabee is being ostracized by the man that used him. I mean, McCain actually said that he did not like Alito because he wore his conservatism on his arm too much. What do you think he says privately about the “Christian Leader”? Very funny, indeed.

  87. Mike F Says:

Huckabee’s campaign is a full-employment program for his family.

I’d like to know how compensation levels for each of his children compares to previous earnings.

When he drops out, they will all need to find real jobs. On to the convention!

  88. Mr Awesome Says:

That just does not make sense to me.

#89 Creeds that Christians subscribe to are consistent with the Bible. No Christian would hold any set of creeds or any book on par or above the Bible.

  91. Wes Says:

This conservative republican will not support McCain or Huckabee. and I know a lot of others who feel the same way. I believe the republican party is headed left. I think Pres. Bush has weakened the party considerably during the past seven years. McCain or Huckabee would finish the party. I believe the party must be rebuilt during the next four years from the bottom up. Republicans are going to lose the White House in November. The party can’t come together without a strong leader which we will not have this time around.

  92. Mike F Says:

    #89 & 90: AMEN!

  93. Mr Right Says:

Hey Joseph #5 and Elle # 10… Mike Huckabee is a punk, and it is true, Mike Huckabee and Satan are brothers…

  94. cwpete Says:

“#89 Creeds that Christians subscribe to are consistent with the Bible. No Christian would hold any set of creeds or any book on par or above the Bible.”

That is patently false. These Creeds such as the First and Second Councils of Nicaea, First Council of Constantinople, and the Council of Ephesus introduced doctrines to the bible.

As you should know, these creeds were necessary for there to be a consensus as the Bible was not clear on some matters of doctrine such as the nature of God etc.. Since the Nicean Creed was not formulated and the Trinity not understood as Evangelicals understand it today till year 325, many early Christians did not have this same consensus definition of the Trinity that many Evangelicals accept today.

I’m not arguing one side or the other. It is incredibly inconsistent for Evangelicals to bash Mormons for not being Christian since they have a different understanding of these bible verses without concluding that these same early Christians before 325 were also not Christian. Do you take that position?

  95. cwpete Says:

    Also, if this is true:

“No Christian would hold any set of creeds or any book on par or above the Bible.””

Then explain why is it that some Evangelicals maintain that other groups are “non-Christian” if they don’t subscribe to these same creeds? If these creeds are no where near “on par or above the Bible” , then how can any group be labeled “non-Christian” for not subscribing to them?

    These arguments are incredibly inconsistent.

  96. CT Says:

Guys the mormon has had class and stepped aside we no longer have to have posts on who is the right christian or the true christian..or who believes the bible or what ever…We have done just about all the religious destruction we could possible do to this party… I hope that most Americans will vote for what is best for our country and their values…not the person of their religion. Huck asked for a religous fight and he got it. He has fought against mormons for years…yeah right he doesn’t know what they believe…whats he doing at the baptist convention in SLC as the guest speaker. He will not be the nom. Who is he going to belittle now…McCain…How will he beat McCain…he has no ideas that make sense…Oh… build a highway for a stimulas package. righttttttt.

  97. Matt in Maine Says:

Truth, was Christ praying to himself in the Garden and on the cross? Let this cup pass…not my will but thine… why hast thou forsaken me. What about outside the tomb when he tells Mary not to touch him because he hasn’t seen his father? Is God without body parts and passion, everywhere and nowhere; or are we created created in his image? I’ll stick with the Bible, even if that means I’m not a Christian in your eyes. According to the Nicene Creed, Jesus Christ and his Apostles were not Christian either. Out of curiosity, who are the Apostles in your church?

  98. Matt in Maine Says:

CWPete said it better than I can.

  99. cwpete Says:

    Truth,

To comment further on what you stated in an earlier post: “They believe the Bible is the Word of God and that it’s content is complete.”

If that is true, then why the need for these creeds? It should be very clear that the need for these creeds is to enforce a particular interpretation regarding the matters of doctrines address within each creed which the Bible was not clear on.

If the Bible is totally complete in content, then there should not be any need for all the numerous creeds held since then. Adding to or taking away from the Bible by way of Creeds to impose a particular viewpoint should not be necessary. By the way, have you seen a Catholic Bible? Do you know how it differs from you Bible or my Bible which happens to be the King James Version? Should Catholics be labeled as ‘non-Christian’ since their bible is different than mine by having more books and different words for many verses?

Again these positions and arguments are incredibly inconsistent.

  100. Matt in Maine Says:

Psycheout: I just read your post over at your website mocking Mormonism, then I read this:

“Your unhinged rant should make you feel ashamed. Do you read before you post? Do you proofread?

Why is this spittle flecked post on the front page.

Romney supporters can choose between McCain and Huckabee without your rambling rant full of hatred and bile.

I am embarassed for you. You do need to take a time out. I hope you are better after a rest.”

The irony man, the irony. It almost has to be intentional, but I think maybe you are sincere about it. Is it a joke?

  101. Truth Says:

#99 I went to the University of Notre Dame. I own a Catholic Bible and a NIV. Many Protestants rightly point-out that Catholics have erred in adding books to the Bible. Catholics have added in other ways to Scripture as well. Paul says that anyone who changes what scripture says (adds to scripture is an anathema).

Gal 1:7-9 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (NIV)

  102. Linda Says:

This is ridiculous. I am embarrassed for any Mormons posting their rage on here, and I am embarassed for any evangelicals/born agains posting their rage on here. We are all so much more alike than we are different. Don’t you guys get it? We all want the same things: to emulate the life of Christ, to be good citizens in the world, to take care of our families and be good neighbors, to elect someone who will lead our country towards our values, etc. There is no reason for us to fight. We are on the same side.

  103. cwpete Says:

    Truth #101:

    We agree here:

“Paul says that anyone who changes what scripture says (adds to scripture is an anathema).”

To many such as myself, these creeds do exactly that – change scripture. This is evident since Evangelicals hold those who don’t subscribe to creeds such as Trinitarianism as defined by the Council of Nicea as “non-Christian” cultists.

Since these creeds are not on par with the Bible, then Evangelicals should not use Trinitarianism as a standard for deciphering Christianity.

That would be a more consistent approach in my view.

  104. Truth Says:

Scripture is clear that their is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All of the O.T. points towards the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is clear that He is the Son of Man. Paul’s writings explain that Jesus was God and that He lived the perfect life and died on the cross to justify sinners. The Gospel and the rest of the NT point out that the Holy Spirit is one of the personage of God. Our finite minds cannot comprehend the Trinity, but Scripture is clear that God has three forms. The Book of Mormo is completely inconsistent with there being one God. With Jesus being God in human form. And many, many more areas.

  105. John S. Says:

    Truth,
Name one inconsistency in the Book of Mormon cite Book and verse.

  106. cwpete Says:

    Truth:

    If this was true:

“Scripture is clear that their is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

Then why the need for Trinitarianism to be introduced year 325? This just can’t be both ways. We’ve been in circles here and I see no need to continue.

I interpret that to be three separate distinct gods with one purpose. That seems pretty clear to me. Trinitarians interpret that otherwise. Fine..

However, It is incredibly unfair to label those such as myself as non-Christian for having a different interpretation of these same verses as Trinitarians.

Again, since the early Christians did not have the Trinitarianism till 325, what of those between year 33 & 325? Since they did not have Trinitarianism, are they or are they not Christians?

  107. Mcon Says:

    Truth,

    And what is gospel?

  108. michael Says:

Huckabee will soon get out of the race because his purpose for running in the first place has been accomplished. Personally, I hope he stays in and continues to be laughed at.

  109. K Dub Says:

Actually, Huck staying in is good for McCain. He will not get the nomination. But he may very well “soak up” some of the conservative ire towards McCain. He provides an alternative target to vent at, and make McCain seem palatable and even presidential in comparison. What a crazy primary this has been!

I agree w/ Jason that overall Huck seems under-qualified, and also that some of the anti-Mormon stuff made me sick. However, it also seems like a double standard is at work: no one questions the near universal support for Romney amongst LDS folks, but for Huck to court evangelicals and home-schoolers is somehow verbotten? I don’t get that one. And when you are not worth $250,000, sometimes you have to sing for your supper. If you speak as well as Huck does, what is wrong with getting paid to do it?

  110. K Dub Says:

Looks like a left out a few zeros in Mitt’s net worth LOL.

  111. Rocko Says:

Huck lost me at 1000 pardons.

  112. MJN Says:

At the beginning of this campaign Huckabee was my second choice. Learning about his pardons, his tax record, and watching his dirty politics in action turned me off. When a person is Christian in a “show off” way and then doesn’t act the part of a Christian it shows a rotten inner core and no integrity! Plus Huck is weak on the war, weak on the ecomony and weak on criminals. As a Romney supporter I would have to give up nearly everything to vote for Huck.
At the very very least I want to keep my self respect. This Romney supporter will not switch to Huck.
