As more polls show Obama as beatable some of the established DEMS may rethink their candidate.

I tremble with fear at the prospect of facing He That We Have All Been Waiting For (blessings upon His name) in November, when at the height of Obamamania (blessings upon His name) he is tied with Sen. McCain in national primary polls.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Fine. Clinton is unelectable.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:07 pm
I’m having a good feeling about this election if it’s Obama. I’d still rather face Clinton though. There’s no reason to panic. Even if McCain isn’t the best president we could have, at least he’s not a Democrat and will appoint decent judges. He’s too old to run for re-election in 2012 too, so we’ll have another rumble for the nomination in 2012.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Hil may yet have an NH style comeback in TX.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:15 pm
McCain could beat Obama in November because some democrats like McCain better than Obama!
Centrist democrats say they like McCain

#2, Kavon I thought the proper salutation was “Peace Be Upon Him”.
When we mention Obama we can just put PBUH afterwards so his zombies don’t feel dissed.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:25 pm
I am glad that McCain can beat Obama in the general. On another note, it looks like the favorability ratings of Mr. Huckabee are slowly improving.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Huck. Is. Over.
Il est fini.
Get over it.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:38 pm
If Obama is tied with McCain at this stage, imagine what the results will be if the generic climate gets better for Republicans.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:48 pm
#2, remember Obama can rise from the dead and ascend to the presidency.
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:49 pm
IR-MN,
Right on. If Huck can believe in miracles, then why can’t the Democrats?
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:50 pm
I wish Adam would direct his fire at Obama rather than Huckabee.
February 22nd, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Perhaps the NYT’s debacle will have the opposite effect of what they want it to. I see more conservatives jumping to McCain because of the NYT’s smear on McCain. His base (McCain) seems very supportive of him.
February 22nd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
We should really stop bashing Huckabee. He’s not the enemy here, and he’ll only be around for a little while longer anyways. As a Huckabee supporter, I realize he’s not going to win, so I’m supporting McCain in the general election. We shouldn’t be criticizing Huckabee or his base because Huckabee’s base is the base of the Republican Party. We need them to win. We’re all friends here.
February 22nd, 2008 at 1:45 pm
I don’t believe this story but the press are at it again. This time it’s against Obama

EricB As long as Huckabee stays in the race, he is in the race, and is viewed by many as an irritant. Many of his supporters still believe that he can win by taking the nomination to a brokered convention. Which stresses the McCain supporters out. News of cancer, NYT etc. get many of the Huckabee supporters very excited that this is the miracle they have all been waiting for, and they express these views on line. Others believe Huckabee is still in competition with Romney for the most delegates, that is also annoying since Romney is no longer in the race, but has many disappointed supporters.
If Huckabee had a ‘real’ chance of winning the nomination he would be view more like a competitor. This will all blow over when Huckabee lets it blow over.
I agree that we have NO hope of winning this election in 2008 without all of the support from Hunter, Tancredo, McCain, Rudy, Thompson, Romney, Huckabee people. When Huckabee gets out, the healing and bonding begins for all.
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I’m surprised Obama’s unfavorables are so high.

Grandma T:
I can only speak for myself, but as a Huckabee supporter, I am not excited that there are NYT articles against Mr. McCain or that he might get cancer. I wish Mr. McCain well and I well all candidates well. I will support Mr. McCain in the general election. However, I have a duty to myself to vote for the most Conservative candidate remaining in the race and Mr. Huckabee is the most Conservative candidate. My vote is not a protest vote against either Mr. McCain or Mr. Romney, it is simply a vote for who I believe is the best candidate on balance. I will back the GOP nominee in November. Am I not free to do otherwise on March 4th?
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Ohio Joe,
If I was in Ohio or Texas, I would do the same as you. Alas, I’m in Michigan and already voted for Huckabee here on Jan. 15.
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Ohio JOE Yes you are free to vote for anyone, and I respect your right to vote for whomever you feel best represents you. There are plenty of Huckabee supporters on this blog who do fit into the comments in #17. My comments were directed to Eric who doesn’t understand why some people continue to treat Huckabee as the enemy.
I do NOT agree with bloggers who make up unkind names for the candidates or make slanderous comments about the candidates or the bloggers who support them.

Hello, all-
Question on the Huck issue-
Who knows the delegate math - how far away are we from the point where McCain mathematically crosses the magic, 1,191 number to clinch the nomination?
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:07 pm
here is CNN delegate count http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Ohio Joe and Eric B. All of us on here that had a candidate who is out would like to vote in every state until our guy wins. However, you don’t get it both ways EITHER you guy is in and fair game or he is out. I thinking in is better than out for both of you.
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:17 pm
..I am thinking….
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I never said Mr. Huckabee is not fair game. He is in the race, not out. I was just making it clear that I would vote for the GOP nominee who ever it is in November. It is up to Mr. Huckabee alone whether he stay in the race. It is silly to ask him to leave. As long as he is a candidate on March 4th, I will vote for him on that day.
February 22nd, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Ohio Joe read EricB #15 relax, take a deep breath and vote on March 4th. People in WA state voted in the primaries for Romney two weeks after he dropped out.
My Point is that we ALL feel that way about our candidate.
