Not so much, I think.
Maybe, I’m just naive and too eager to ascribe to Obama good intentions, but this doesn’t scream intentional to me. After the crowd starts to rumble, Obama has a slightly confused look on his face for a split second, before dropping his huge grin. As if to say “I didn’t expect that line to get a huge response, but after all I am the Obamamessiah. Best I smile to let them know I appreciation their adoration”. In other words, he has the look of someone who’s on the outside of the joke. I think it’d be a mistake to make a big deal of it, but it seems newsworthy for a slow Friday.

Oh yeah, he did it on purpose, little doubt in my mind. I’m 99% sure of it.
April 18th, 2008 at 7:35 am
I’m not sure if it was intentional or not. It would have to be blatantly intentionally to clobber Obama over something like that. It does seem like some people in the audience thought he did it on purpose.

If I had to guess I’d say it was – but unless you can prove it you can’t make a fuss about it – or you’ll like as whiny as the Obama supporters.

I agree Adam….it won’t have legs.

Question: “Who scratches their face with their middle finger without meaning something?”
Answer: “Five year olds and people with diminished mental capacities.”
So did Obama mean it or is he operating on low wattage?
I think he meant it. Perhaps he was tired and let his feeling slip.

I’m with you, Doug. But it’s just impossible to prove.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Quite frustrating, because there’s just no way that a person can do this without realizing it.
But there’s no way to prove it.

People I’d rather see be president over Obama:
-Hillary Clinton
-John Edwards
-Joe Biden
-John Kerry
-Howard Dean
-Wesley Clark
People equally worthy of being president:
-Mike Gravel
-Dennis Kucinich

If Obama is the standard I’d rather see a chair as President.
Sturdy, Reliable, Aged, Good Fiber.
We could even pick a black chair for racial harmony. I don’t see how Obama is superior to the chair for President.

all this nonsense about scratching his nose. Nobody seemed to notice that all during the debates, Hillary kept referring to Senator Obama as Barack, and when she talked about McCain, she kept saying Senator McCain. This is much more obvious and deliberate attempt on her part to make Obama seem diminutive and it borders on racism.

#10 – I think its more like being a rather subtle attempt to remind people of Obama’s Islamic family ties.

(with sarcasm)
ah yes, Illinoisguy. islam-the unacceptable religion for an executive in America. But Mormons! Now it’s a disgrace that Bush hasn’t embraced the LDS faith by now to say nothing of Romney.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:31 am
On #7. That is not true. There’s no way one knows this is intentional. One can accidentally do that. I’ve seen it happen many times.
This is like going on a date and then over analyzing a smile or non-smile to death. Let it go.

#10, it may simply be that Hillary is trying to appear publicly friendly with Obama by using his first name. Obama uses Hillary’s first name as well.

How classy is this for a potential President? He is certainly no leader or role model.

About a year ago, I received my first fundraising mailer from Barak Obama (hey, I live with a Democrat — sue me), and on reading I was struck by how refreshingly upbeat and positive Obama was. Most Dem party appeals (whether from the DCCC, the DSCC, the DNC, Hillary and/or Bill) tend toward apocalyptic imagry of a nation beset by crazed Republicans and “their extreme right wing agenda” (they must get a publishing discount for using that phrase).
Obama’s appeal, on the other hand, conveyed a civility that is increasingly missing. Immediately I was impressed.
Unfortunately for discourse (but fortunately for McCain) that Obama is long gone.
His little finger was driving the stake through the heart of the old, upbeat
post partisan Obama for good.

#12 – why did you attack me for offering that? Whether you like it or not, being Islamic right now would be a turn off for a very great number of people. I realize he claims to be Christian now, but Hillary is not above putting that little thought in peoples mind.
This has nothing to do with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Why did you bring that up? Since when is belonging to the 4th largest Christian denomination in the United States a problem?
April 18th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
OF COURSE he flipped the bird. The crowd knew and the smirk on his face says it all.
Barack Obama is unpresidential and unlelectable. Who is Barack Obama? We demand that Barack Obama is vetted by the mainstream media. Americans deserve to be informed voters and Obama is not immune from scrutiny or questions. Who does he think he is??

Hey, I just noticed something — the flag pin is gone. That was quick.
