IN and NC Early Day Open Thread

The latest polls in North Carolina show that this state will be Obama’s Pennsylvania: a state he is supposed to win, where he had a 20-point advantage once upon a time, and where his opponent is cutting into that lead. Just like Hillary in PA, though, the final polls are showing Obama maintaining an 8-10 point lead in the state (Rasmussen has him up 9; PPP up 10; SUSA up 5; and Zogby up 14).

Indiana, the state that Obama himself once called the tiebreaker in this late set of primaries, is trending toward Hillary. Before her victory in Pennsylvania she trailed Obama here (within the margin of error); now, the polls show her standing greatly improved in the state (the final polls have it as Hillary +4, +5, +6, and +12… and -2 from Zogby. Go figure.).

If the results turn out to be close to those polls (Obama by 8-10 in NC; Hillary by 5 in IN), the race will continue in WV, KY, and OR to close out the month of May.

The only poll reliable is SUSA, also we need to remember that Hillary is doing 3 to 4 pts. better than expected in the RCP average.

Why on Earth did Obama call Indiana the tiebreaker?

You think Hillary won’t use that in her victory speech tonight?

    Just got back from NYC…

    My predictions:

Clinton wins IN by more than 10. She loses in NC by 7.

    That’s my two-cents…

I just voted for Hillary today in Indiana. She won me over after her appearance on O’Reilly. I plan to vote for McCain this fall though. Unless he picks Huckabee for VP. Then I will have to think about it. I really dislike Huckabee.

    Amy #4,

How are things on the ground there in IN? What was the turnout like where you voted?

  6. Falz Says:

    “I really dislike Huckabee.”…Amy you’re not alone.

I live in a small town outside Fort Wayne. I didn’t have to wait in line at all, but all 5 machines were being used when I left. I did go around 10:30 though, so it might have been busier this morning. My undecided mother in law just called and told me she went for Clinton also, although 2 of the men she works with chose Obama.
