I think he meant to say 70. If you include the District of Columbia, and the 19 Territorial possessions of the United States - Guam, PR, Virgin Islands, Wake Island, ect… - it adds up to 70.
Since Obama won Guam the other day, it obviously got him confused.
But he hasn’t yet won Navassa Island, a US Territorial Possession 2.9 square miles 50 miles West of Haiti. The Island is completely made up of Guano. Perhaps Obama coming off his Guam win, and looking to score big in Navassa has made him “bat shit crazy.”
I thought that after four years of liberals hitting on Bush for every slip of the tongue, conservatives would have realized that occasionally everybody makes mistakes.
But apparently petty sneering for minor mistakes knows no partisan bounds.
Seriously, how in the heck can a guy supposedly as smart as Obama make this kind of blunder? It only took our former vice president Dan Quayle to spell ‘potato’ wrong to hang the idiot sign around around his neck for the century. That was a miniscule problem compared to this. AAnyone of use could mispell a word like that, but could we really say 57 states….I don’t think so.
14,
Potatoe is actually an antiquated usage for the singular form created by a back-derivation of the plural form potatoes. It is not totally incorrect, just not in heavy usage anymore.
Danford was actually given the spelling on a card by one of the bee’s officials. It was spelled incorrectly by them. Apocryphal or not, it was a perfect chance to illustrate the feeling among the mediacracy that he was an idiot - why would they pass it up?

actually, he mentions sixty states.
the 57 that he has visited
the one that he is allowedf to visit
and the two that his staff won’t let him go to.

Folks get tired.
You know Obama’s
lackeysfriends in the media will focus on every McCain gaff as a sign of senility.I’m expecting a daily dose of hypocrisy and slander from the new age Messiah.

Actually Senator Obama, there are 59 states, you forgot to count Michigan and Florida as usual.
May 9th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
You know, this wouldn’t be such a big deal if he simply blurted out “fifty-seven states” without thinking. That would be fatigue or whatever else.
But the guy thought about it!!! Or at least pretended to think about it!
He said, “Fifty…………SSSSSSseven (?) states…”
He knew it was more than fifty, but was trying to remember HOW many more than fifty.

May 10th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

May 10th, 2008 at 10:16 pm

Didn’t he mean 47, and simply slipped up on the 50-40 part?

True, but think of how much flack Quayle caught for that and how little is made of this Obaba gaffe.

I strongly dislike Obama, but cut him some slack — he’s tired.
