Supposedly Barack Obama’s not playing for Kentucky. You could have fooled me. He’s got 16 offices in the state next to Hillary’s 5. Hillary has no office west of Louisville. Barack Obama’s offices go from the West Virginia border to the Mississippi River. I visited one of Barack’s offices today.
So how is Barack trying to appeal to Kentuckians?
As a religious candidate.

This is how Obama is appealing to Kentuckians. I had just finished doing an undisclosed activity at Church and a friend asked me to check out Barack Obama. I couldn’t say no to my Lutheran friend.
So I drive up to the Obama office and I noticed a crudely spray-painted image of Barack Obama and a cross. So my friend and I walked in. A cross on the wall and a tall black man (a Professor of mine) greeted me. Behind him were two elderly ladies wearing crosses.
So they launched into their pitch about how Obama would care for the poor and the “least among these”.
I can’t attest to how Obama’s other 15 campaign offices in Kentucky are run. In this one the appeal to Evangelical voters is in overdrive.
I wonder what Obama campaign commercials I’ll see in the Fall.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Just imagine how this would have been received if GWB had made such an overt appeal to religion.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Obama says he must do the Lord’s work:
Ask God to damn America
Rein in greedy white people that steal hope audacity from the world
Accuse the US govt of attempting genocide against blacks by injecting them with aids
etc
May 12th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Someone should really send this to Andrew Sullivan. See how quickly he disavows this “Christianist.”
I won’t hold my breath.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
And I thought that Harold Ford Jr.’s attempt to constantly throw ‘God’ in every sentence seemed forced. What an utter joke this is.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Go to church one Sunday?
And which church was that?
May 12th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
That picture of Obama speaking on an altar, was that at the “God damn America” sermon or was it at the “chickens are coming home to roost” homily?
May 12th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Honestly, I don’t blame him one bit. Perhaps this will finally put the rumors that he is a Muslim to rest; oh wouldn’t that be nice.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Ryan in fact the Obama people looked at me and the first word… the very first words, they said were “I personally know for a fact that Obama is not a Muslim.”
I actually said “Why does that matter?”
Blank looks for about 3 seconds then back on script as if I’d not said anything.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
8 – …Wow.
May 12th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
I find it crazy that so many voters are opposed to Obama because he’s muslim, took the oath on the Koran, and has an awful Christian pastor called Rev Wright.
Who are these people? And why do they have the right to vote? Such stupidity surely disqualifies someone from choosing the next POTUS. Its scary.
May 12th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Jaype, if stupidity were a disqualification, there would be no Democrats.
May 12th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Jonathan, I’m not sure I necessarily agree with that. There are some intelligent and sensible Democrats out there (e.g. Mark Warner). And I certainly wouldn’t call Warren Buffett stupid!
However, it would be nice if elections were decided on the issues. And then the elected officials actually did what they said they would when they get into office. Sigh!

Vietnam Vet’s and Bluegrass people in West Virginia and Kentucky Hate Obama!!
Barack Obama has finally crossed the line!!!!!!!!! Obama has gone too far!!! He has insulted every Vietnam Vet’s in West Virginia and Kentucky. Obama has no right to finally stick on his flag pin now, stage all those flags behind him and attempts to align him self or address the Vietnam War. WV. and KY. are largely vets, patriots, Bluegrass people, and we revere God, Country, and the Flag and take this subject very seriously. I am sickened to see Obama act like he knows what it means to be a Vietnam Vet, or have Patriotism today in WV. Obama has no ideal what that means. No matter what the other states say that voted for Obama, KY. and WV. say it does matter who Obama aligns himself with and in bed with which we will prove it. WV. and KY. are going to say it loud and clear with our vote for Hillary. Obama can bypass us with his trash talk. I for one am appalled and sicken by the God, Country, Jesus, and the Flag hating states and super delegates that voted for Obama; they are betrayers of this great country. The Vietnam Vets that talk to me say Obama is a do nothing loud mouth “coward†and he needs to spend a week in a foxhole eating, drinking, and fighting with body parts, blood, guts, urine, and waste all around him, then he will only know what it means to ware a flag pin. What an insult, rouge, and a phony, putting that Flag pin on now just for WV. And KY.!! Many more tell me they wish Obama and his God, Country, and the Flag hating bed buddies were in Vietnam because they said they would have left them face down in a rice patty for disrespecting God, Country, and the Flag, which they fought and died for without batting an eye. So we say; “NOT God Dam America, But God Dam Barack Obama.” KY. and WV. are down to earth common sense patriotic states and not fooled easily with empty talk. We believe in blind faith only when it comes to God and Jesus, which Obama likes to think he is, but isn’t either of those. So do the honorable thing Obama and pass up West Virginia and Kentucky you’re not welcome here!!
May 12th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Adam,
I don’t think Harold Ford Jr.’s religious appeals were forced; I think they were almost embarrassingly sincere.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Harold Ford Jr. is a decent man. He’s one of my favorite Democrats on a personal level.
May 12th, 2008 at 11:14 pm

Matt,
Maybe. There’s just something really repellent for me when a politician constantly brings God into his dialogue. I’m not talking about a reference here or there. I don’t like when any candidate runs as God’s candidate – and this Obama attempt to showcase his halo is just ridiculous.

May 14th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Hey Barack, who are you kidding – you are doing this to try and get elected. If you were a true Christian not just an opportunist trying to pretend to get votes you would not have gone with Rev Wright – and even that I suspect is bogus. You know that you must show some religious links to get elected as president so you do this. And you did the Rev Wright. And that shows bad judgement ‘cos you could have gone with any church (since it doesn’t matter to you). But you chose a nut job. You and the vicious Michelle are as much of a Christian as Bin laden.
It confirms that you are just a plain old politician trying to get elected. The only ‘Change’ you are interested in is the change to put you into the Whitehouse.
If you were the last man on earth I would not vote for you.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I think this is an effective piece. Obama is comfortable discussing his faith, and if people were blanketing the internet with rumors about my religion — I wouldn’t hesitate to address them directly either.

LOL! Guess that’s a Black Liberation Theology church.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Wow. Many of the comments are really pretty hateful and cynical. Where is your christian compassion? Of course he is going to accentuate his faith, particularly in states where that is important. I’ve had the fortune to meet Obama twice and talk with him. I can tell you that I believe he is utterly sincere in his faith and his commitment to the poor and working-class, as well as to helping the middle class continue to build good lives. Really, can’t we all tone down the negativity and try to listen and hear each other, rather than always attack, condemn and talk beyond one another? That is no way forward and we desperately need to find a new way forward … TOGETHER.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Todd H:
We don’t know who that is in the blurry stained glass window behind Barack. Besides, as the Bible says, Jesus was the color of burnt copper and had woolly hair like a lamb. Uhh… he wasn’t a “white” dude, as you are insinuating. So, if that is a darker skinned depiction of Jesus, it is actually more historically accurate. But, beyond that, the key point is not his look (most cultures have made culturally distinct representations of Jesus that look like them), but rather his teachings of love and compassion. Perhaps you might try to reconnect with these things instead of seeking, relentlessly, to attack and destroy this man.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
The opponents of Mr. Obama screamed that he is a Muslim, that he hates America and other lies. Now, he wears a flag pin, praises our troops and confesses his faith in Jesus Christ and still they scream. The only explanation is that these so-called patriots are racists. I am a Vietnam Veteran, a white man and I live in a rural state (Idaho) that is 80 per cent Republican and 95 per cent white. And I voted for Obama in the caucus and I will vote for him in the general. And I utterly repudiate my fellow Veterans who continue to be underinformed and spout nonsense about the patriotism and the faith of Senator Obama. It’s a disgrace to the nation the way they carry on.
And, btw, Senator Clinton is a sitting member of the US Senate. The Senate is currently in session. I have not seen one bill introduced by her to cut the federal gas tax this summer. That is the ONLY way a gas tax can be realized.
The tone of this campaign has brought out the worse in the people. I know West Virginia. It’s a beautiful state. But, I will stay away from it until they get rid of that former KKK Senator they have, the Honorable Robert Byrd. A pitiful old man, who keeps getting re-elected to the Senate. Shows what kind of voters y’all have over there.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Thank God there is a man of integrity running for President of the United States. I always laugh at sinners who question a man CLEARLY is a Christian and smear him because they have some other issue with him. God will raise this man up to be President because IT IS TIME!!! All of you who wish to smear him, AND SOMEHOW REMAIN PURE in your own minds, will learn to love and cherish him when he makes America great again. Time for you reticent, neanderthalian thinkers to really get the message of “Change We Can Believe In”.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Obama’s Christianity may look different from mine, but it is no less heartfelt and real. After graduating Harvard Law he felt the call to help in communities in crisis, rather than line his own pockets. Contrast this with GW or many other Christians who are the first to throw around the Lord’s name, but the last to do the Lord’s work.
He may have won me with this one.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Jesus said, “you shall know them by their fruits”. Barak Obama’s gospel, which is equal rights for people of color, is okay as a political agenda. However, it is NOT the gospel of Jesus Christ, which offers forgiveness for sinners who repent and turn to Jesus trusting Him alone for the free gift of eternal life. So, what about Barak Obama? Since Jesus said “you shall know them by their fruit”, what kind of fruit does Obama have? Well, for one, he does not believe in supporting the restraint of the murder of the innocent unborn (i.e. abortion). Rather, he would appoint Supreme Court justices who would support abortion. That makes Obama a cohort in the American holocost. When he stands before Jesus one day and, unless he repents, he will hear the words of Christ “depart from me ye cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Obviously Jesus was half-Jewish (his Mom, remember?).
But if the original can be tracked down and this is a church with a black Jesus… problems! Some Black Liberation Theologists believe Jesus WAS an African oppressed by Whites (Romans) and see all of Christianity through those eyes.
If Obama has a black Jesus behind him — major political blunder and will be national news in a day or two. Book it.
Also, what church did he go to? Rev. Wright! Socialist Malcolm X teaching ‘church’/cult. Check out this site for obvious proof Obama is no Christian:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=v-yUCg0TASc
“Whether I was going up or down…”?? He doesn’t KNOW? He’s not a Christian
and used his church for shameless political advantage.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Barack Obama may be a liberal, but I believe he is a good Christian despite his crazy pastor. I look at Obama and see a good family man. He won’t be like Bill Clinton who had an affair with Gennifer Flowers, harassed Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey, raped Juanita Broaddrick, and lied under oath about oral sex with a 21 year old intern Monica Lewinsky. Just think about the fact that Chelsea is only about 3 years younger than Monica. It makes me sick to my stomach.
I also don’t think John McCain is a man of character. His first wife waited for him throughout Vietnam. But when she became disabled in a car accident, McCain began cheating on her with many women, including female subordinates in the Navy. That’s violation of military ethics. Then while he was still married to his first wife, McCain zeroed in on a beer heiress who was 20 years younger than him. Cindy was only in her 20s at the time. That’s just disgusting to me.
I can’t relate to the lives of McCain or Clinton. But to me, Obama seems like a good man and a normal person.

Almost everyone in America “accepts Jesus into their life”, but which one? There are so many different ones being preached and taught out there. The ONLY Jesus that matters is the ‘Jesus of Nazareth’, ‘The Lord’ (not just Saviour), Immanuel (God with us) The Way the Truth and The Life…”no man comes to the Father except through Me (Jesus)”.
It doesn’t matter if you ‘decide for Jesus’ or ‘Accept him into your life’ it ONLY matters if HE (the King of Glory accepts them!
Big difference!

does everyone realize that since 1988 we have had a Bush or Clinton to choose from? I do not know about

Buddy cannot be a religious man or wouldn’t talk about any of God’s creations like this. The hatred level in his message makes it seem like he’s anti-everybody in America except those who are just like himself. That’s not the way a true Christian or true Conservative would act. I’m upset that he would make the fine people of Kentucky and West Virginia sound so hateful and uncaring. Go to church Buddy and search your heart for the goodness God gave you and then try and help someone who needs it rather spewing evil hatred at others. And most importantly, be good to yourself my brother.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
So people actually think war mongering McCain is a better choice than poverty fightin’ Obama? No wonder our leaders have such an easy time taking us into undeclared wars and spending our children’s children’s money.
Todd H:
Jesus was most likely dark skinned. Look it up in one of ‘them thar books.’ By the way, I’m not black. I’m a non-denominational American-beaner. Also, Jesus would have surely been called liberal by the conservative Pharisees and Sadducees.
Just because I/we haven’t gone to a foreign nation and killed some indigenous people doesn’t mean we don’t love this country. Approval of war DOES NOT equal patriotism. The disapproval of undeclared wars does not mean we do not support our troops.
We love our troops, we love this country and we’re sick of authoritarian bigots saying otherwise.

He lives his life as someone who understands the message of the Good Samaritan, instead of just talking about it. Learn more about the man’s good works and deeds, his messages will be honed and tweaked by experts on politics, but do remember he is running for President of the United States and not soliciting support to be the new Deacon.

Hey Michael (#56)
Does the Lord’s work include abortion, gay marriage, etc.? That’s what Obama stands for. You’ve got to be kidding! This nation wasn’t built on baby killing or homosexuality.
This nation cannot be great by giving condoms to kids in school (Democrats are for that) allowing sodomites to marry (Obama is for that) and taking guns from the people (Obama is for that.) This nation is far from perfect, but give me a break, Michael! Are you that blind?
Make a deal with you, Mike. If Obama promises to end abortion (WHICH MURDERS OVER 1 MILLION BABIES EVERY YEAR IN THIS COUNTRY) and if Obama comes out against homosexuality I’ll vote for him.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Wow, the comments of some of you “Christians” are amazing. You are quick to
condemn Barack Obama for saying he’s a Christian. Why? You point to all types
of silly things like his associations. Well, if you actually read the Bible you
would see that Jesus hung around and came to the rescue of “questionable”
characters. Some of you are so Christian and judgemental that if Jesus himself
came to Earth you would say he wasn’t a Christian. What a joke. Do you think Christianity
is going to church everytime the doors open and quoting the Bible from cover
to cover? The real Christians are out in the field doing God’s work everdayf, not
sitting in church condemnming people. Ever heard of wolves in sheep clothing?
If you guys are the one’s deciding who is and
isn’t Christian, then I will stay a heathen. Oh, I guess if I’m a “conservative or Republican”
then I can say and do anything and get away with it as long as I say I’m a Christian. This doesn’t
apply to everyone but if the cap fits, wear it.
This is sickening.

Look harder. I’m going from memory, but I believe it is Revelation 1: 14-15
The guy was a middle eastern Jew, after all. Are you really that surprised to hear that he was darker skinned with kinky hair? Does it matter to you?
Are you critical of churches when they have a blond-haired, blue-eyed Christ image in the church? This is, of course, nothing like what the historical Jesus looked like…
But, again, you miss my point, which is that the race of the depiction of Jesus is irrelevant. It is the essence of his message: love and compassion and redemption!

you can no more say there is a black jesus in the background than i can say there isnt. You are making an assumption, which is more than likely isnt true. Who says that jesus isnt all things to everyone?

Here’s something that is really bothering me: Obama claims to be a commited Christian and yet he suports abortion – even partial birth abortion, which is terrible. I haven’t heard anybody address this contradiction?
May 14th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Hey Kevin (ChristNazi) – #80 (certain to have been a slave owner, not an abolitionist)! Lying, changing the lie when the first is revealed as untruth, lying again, changing the lie ad infinitum to justify killing people with young, innocent American boys and girls is OK! But let people decide for themselves what is right and wrong in the most LIBERAL democracy in the history of the world is not OK! Yes, you have let everyone on this list know you are a FASCIST! Christ would have known there were homosexuals and mothers seeking abortions in his midst, he would have counseled them with love and provided for their well being. You just want them all to disappear. You are no lover of Christ, you are a hater of all those that are different from yourself.

It seems to me I remember a big fuss when in one of Governor Huckabee’s commercials, the lighting briefly made a bookcase look like a cross. “Separation of Church and State?” the Democrats screamed. Where’s their outrage now?

The Patriot (#76) said, “Just because I/we haven’t gone to a foreign nation and killed some indigenous people doesn’t mean we don’t love this country.” I was with you there, until you say you support the troops and then make comments like this. Those of us who served, whether or not we support the war, have a hard enough time coming home and coming to grips with the “reality” of war.
Please don’t tell me you support me, then tell me I go over to kill indigenous people. I don’t need that kind of encouragement.

BUT ONE THING I DO GET, HE WONT WEAR HIS FLAG PIN AND WANTS TO EXPLAIN HIS PATRIOTISM AND HOW THE COUNTRY SHOULD BE. WHAT’S NEXT AHMADINEJAD OVER FOR DINNER?

“God will raise this man up to be President”…does this country believe in the separation of church and state, or not?!! I will vote for NO ONE who campaigns based on his/her religious beliefs – and the more apparent he/she makes it, the more likely I’ll be to campaign AGAINST them. My religious beliefs are private, and I would hope that the President of the United States would keep his/hers private as well. “God” does not enact the laws of this country, enforce them, or uphold the U.S. Constitution.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Jack,
You’re spot on with your comment.
Matthew 7:15-23 is it in a nutshell. You can’t be a Christian without obeying Christ’s commands. And you can’t do the will of God apart from the clear directives given in the Bible. Anything outside of that is man-centered religion and is the broad path that leadeth to destruction.
God has knit every child in the womb of his mother, they are His creation, and terminating those lives cannot in any way shape or form be doing the will of God. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
Sanctity of life must be the litmus test for any true follower of Christ when choosing who to support in an election. If it’s not, it’s hard to believe that a saving faith truly exists.
God bless,
Chris

Essay Questions!
#1 – Please provide proof that Reverend Wright preached hate and bigotry (3x a week) for 20 years. Proof would involve video footage from less than seven years ago or documented reports from white church members that they were the victims of hate speech. Proof can also involve police records of hate crimes committed by church members, which is behavior commonly associated with hate groups, or reports from teachers who say that the children of this church display the kind of hate speech and prejudice that would be evident were they exposed to it on a regular basis.
#2 – If you cannot complete essay #1, then please provide proof that Barack Obama was present at every sermon that Reverend Wright gave (3x a week, for 20 years.) Failing that, please provide proof that Barack Obama was present every Sunday for 20 years. Failing that, please provide proof that Barack Obama was present during the incidences where Reverend Wright gave what few sermons are documented as being controversial.
Failing that, please give your opinion on the intelligence of a person who draws serious conclusions based on little to no proof.
Papers due by Thursday.

Hey Kevin #80 You said this nation wasn’t built on homosexuality and Baby
killing. Well your right. This nation was built on slavery and genocide.
I guess those are wholesome Christian values. This whole conversation is a joke.
I’m going to find something more productive to do with my time. Have a good day.

Pretty ridiculous. But don’t worry ’cause we got McCain to look out for us……..sorry I just barfed again!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
To #98. I guess you would have opposed George Washington to be our President. Your comment is the height of hypocrisy. There is no requirement for a person running for President or for local government Dog Catcher to reveal or hide his/her religious affiliation. George Washington was proud of his Christianity and spoke of it often. I believe the standard set by him is OK with me.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
The level of hatred towards this man is astounding…vote for him or dont, but the comments of some of these posters is despicable. He graduated Harvard Law and could have written his own ticket and made millions; instead, he decided to work in his community. How many of us would have done the same??
May 14th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Separation of church and state huh? No politician should confuse god and government but
YOU people do not give them a choice. YOU are the reason this flyer exists, and then you
question his bid for your specialized vote? Freedom of religion or no religion is every
Americans right, a fact you should cherish, yet a lot of you try to force only your religion
into all aspects of government or government backed public agencies. Yes our ancestors where
selfish in their bid for religious freedom, ask Native Americans, “witches”, slaves, etc. etc.
Faith should have you flocking to the court rooms to tear down the word god blazed on the walls.
Faith should have you wiping out the name of god on all money. Faith should give you the power
and wisdom to know that god is in control. As with most modern christians actually following
the example of christ whose ONLY moment of rage fueled action was to get the tax collectors out
of the house of god. Be a good servant of christ, if the government intrudes into your religion,
kick ‘em out of the temple, if not pay casers taxes and worship and preach and do good. As to
the “fruits”; work as hard to protect the lives of the living as the unborn and maybe people will
start to take your argument to heart, GWB’s fruits are being seen by all. When he gets to heaven
HE will have to answer for MANY more lives than Barack…
If god is love he is not well represented by most of these comments. – BWB

Teach my daughters morals values,if they make a mistake and get pregnant I dont want them PUNISHED with a child.Sounds like having an abortion is an option? The choice was made during conseption, the child is the result of ones actions.Only a godless liberal will try to justify there unrighteousness.Self justification is the first step to a reprobate mind.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I love to hear so called Christians talk about others who profess to be Christians and criticize them. They remind me of the group of people who attacked and killed JESUS (The African born baby with lamb’s wool hair(kinky) whose feet looked like BURNT BRASS -really black). Learn your history and get a map (Pre-colonial)
I also love to hear those people talk about Rev. Wright and claim he is ANTI AMERICAN because he said God’damn’ America. Rev. Wright is an AMERICAN who has to right to CRITICIZE the international policies of his country. Much the same way that JESUS damned his government for their political policies against the people especially the poor.
P.S. Harold Ford is a lying crook just like the rest of his FAMILY!

For those who so graciously are giving Barack the benefit of the doubt, I urge you to do a little homework on the following two names. Antonio Rezko and Odinga Raila. Then ask yourself if Barack is really the man you think he is.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Funny, how many people call themselves Christian and spread hate on an innocent man. If you are better
thank Obama, where is your christian compassion? Ask yourself seriously
May 14th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Its funny to hear all the conservatives ramble off the same attacks that have been played non stop on radical republican media. Why dont you people pay attention to the issues instead of these stupid worthless attacks that dont mean anything.
As for this religious flyer, it is wrong when any candidate throws Jesus in people faces to get votes. Its sad how religion plays such a huge roll in today’s politics. The sad fact is, that this is what Obama has to do to try and dispel this Muslim myth (and yes it is a myth. Don’t be ignorant, if you seriously still think this then please do some research).
One of Obama’s major issues with blue collar voters is this Muslim thing and that is why he is trying to go out of his way to dispel it. For god sakes “Barack Obama Muslim†is the third most popular Google search for the presidential candidate’s name. I don’t agree with what he is doing, but honestly, I can’t blame him.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Jesus did address the crime of abortion in this passage.
LUKE 23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
Maybe Obama and the rest of the so called Christians that support abortion should read this. Not that they care what God feels about it and they will likely twist it in their twisted serpentine carnal minds into a passage that supports abortion as a “woman’s right” to kill her own children.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Actually,
I get faith, hope and change when I buy a lottery ticket . . .
I get Life, Truth and Love when I tithe at church . . .
Which do you prefer in the President of the United States of America?
May 14th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
SadState… no one is saying Obama is squeaky clean. But when you compare his level of questionable connections/dealings with Hillary’s or McCains, he actually comes out looking pretty good.
Now I like McCain, but, for all his rhetoric, has a history of some truly disturbing shady deals. The “Keating 5″ were not the last of them, either.

I digress, if Barack Obama is a muslim then somebody better run and tell
Rev Wright.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
There are many policy reasons not to vote for Obama. His faith is NOT one of them.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:25 pm

I’ve never seen so much hatred!
BO did NOT insult any vet!
My mission in Desert Storm was to medical triage, treat, care, and transport over 17,000 IRAQI Soldiers at the Rahfa Enemy Prisoner of War Camp in Saudia Arabia before shipping them to Basra via Riyadh. I’ve had the opportunity to work with the French Foreign Legion, 18th Airborne Corp, 62nd Medical Group, 44th Air Evacuation Medical Brigade, 36th Medical Battalion, 512th Military Police, 8th Evacuation Hospital, 10th Mountain Division, 10th Special Forces Group, 82nd Airborne Division, and 15th Evacuation Hospital.
During that time, I had an accident on “MSR Montana” in which I flipped and total my $125,000 Ambulance. It was still operational, but over $50,000 in damaged. I try to avoid hitting an Saudi civilian truck during a convoy. Myself with 6 other ambulances was going to support 44th Medical Evacuation Company at King Khalid Military City (KKMC).
Due to this accident, I have been diagnosed with DJD/DDD. Degenerative Joint Disease & Degenerative Disc Disease.
I’m supporting BO because the legislation he passed on VA Hospitals & Outpatient Services that has assisted me to receive better care in Atlanta.
I’m committed to Senator Barack Obama for President 08 campaign for the following reasons:
1. His foreseen future of the Iraq War
2. His legislature decisions for Veterans
3. His stance on “waterboarding”. The only remaining Presidential Candidate that voted NO AGAINST TORTURE
4. The charisma, innovation, dedication, and intelligence to lead for unity of all Americans.
5. I’m ready for Obamanomics! MADE IN THE USA
Please Help Me to Make a Difference NOT make these types of offensive comments!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Obama’s “religion” is a sham. Black Liberation theory is nothing but a lame attempt to hijack christianity by 60’s-era marxists who realized that the American people weren’t falling propaganda.
The work of God has very little to do with what “Reverend” Wright spewed about every Sunday morning. It is entirely filled by exhortations against “whites”, capitalism and the enemies of marxism, ie the United States.
As for the bible scholars here, ask yourself what Jesus did in the Temple. The work of the Lord isn’t performing works per Obama’s false prophesy, as we are born in sin and only thru the grace of God are we saved. The work of the Lord is turning other souls to Salvation, not socialized healthcare, on-demand abortions, getting “whitey” or fairness taxes on the wealthy.
For the Obamabots, a true christian would oppose a bill which required medical personnel to render assistance to babies who survived an abortion alive? No even Planned Parenthood is that brazen.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
For those who claim Obama is a Christian, you must understand what the bible (the only source for the definition of New Testament Christianity) says is required.
You must hear, believe, repent, confess and be baptized.
The “Sinners prayer” is never mentioned.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost people of Israel in fulfillment of scripture.
Denomenationalism and modern Christianity labels are not found anywhere in the bible and are predicted. (Forbidding marriage, forbidding eating of meats, calling men Father”.
So stop calling people Christians when they have done nothing according to God’s will and are not obedient.
There is no such thing as an unrepentant Christian, that person is lost.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Marie – Christian compassion does not include embracing someone who uses the power of the government to encourage people to commit crimes against humanity in the name of “women’s rights”.
In fact if you really are a Christian you should stand up for the rights of the helpless children who are being slaughtered in the womb. A heinous act if there ever was one. That standing up includes telling Obama or Clinton or anyones else that what they are doing is wrong.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Well, I guess Barak is joining all of us bitter people who cling to our faith. This man just continues to insult people on so many levels. He just doesn’t get it!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
In my humble opinion, this ad is not going to help Senator Obama get any votes from many Catholics and some Protestants who are members of conservative denominations. He has voted against the partial birth abortion ban (very sad).
May 14th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
For those who believe that at the moment of conception we become a “baby” or “child” then Obama and HRC are noth their choice. Many Christians do NOt share this extremist view; for example, i am deeply troubled by the GOPs platform calling for no abortions, even in cases of rape or incest. This policy seems as anti-Christian and “abortion on demand”.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
Sorry, I meant to say “This policy seems as anti-Christian AS “abortion on demand—.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Mary–have you met someone who had their house forclodsed on? I have, and “biiter” doesnt begin to describe their feelings
May 14th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
It’s scary to me, as a Christian, that so many commenters on here feel free to say who does or doesn’t pass the test as a Christian. And it also scares me that so many people argue that criticizing the government is somehow not Christian! Anyone who says that the way the US government treats our elderly, our sick, or our porr is what Jesus Christ calls us to do is committing blasphemy, in my opinion. We know what Christ calls us to do, and America is of course a great country, but it’s not conducting itself in a way pleasing to God 100% of the time.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Obama is a Christian like Hillary is a duck-hunter. Is it far-fetched that both candidates
find rural, blue collar white people sort of… what’s the word I’m looking for? Wait, it’ll come to me. Yes, I’ve got it- stupid?
May 14th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
“I consider myself fairly religious (I’m LDS…not to be confused with FLDS), but this stuff is a total turnoff to me. I don’t care if he’s accepted Jesus into his life. I want to know how he’s going to fix our economic problems…and more taxes isn’t the answer.”
Ok, so he shouldn’t let Americans know where he stands on ALL issues? Hell, John McCain won’t even discuss his religion, which makes me believe he is embarrassed or really an atheist. And if I remember correctly, GW talked about God and went after the Evangelical vote but left the Evangelicals out in the cold and he is definitely a disgrace to the American people. This President has helped to kill and maim more than he has helped, so was he really doing God’s work? Did GW deserve the Evangelical vote? If you think that continuing the War in Iraq and continuing the current tax cuts for the rich are helping you, look around buddy, the country is in financial trouble. LOL, but hey let’s keep the tax cuts for the RICH, even though you are probably middle class. Barrack actually wants to tax the rich a little more and give the middle class folks a tax cut, help with college cost, and take care of the veterans that George Bush used and abused and refuses to help with college. Do some research buddy. John and Cindy McCain are the ELITIST (heir to a Beer distribution company worth over $100 million) not Barrack Obama!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Wow. I am struck by the anger and vitriol coming from the readers on this website. I’d like to understand more about where this anger comes from. Ordinarily, I think of Christian voices as being hopeful and positive and peaceful. Can anyone help me understand this outright hostility toward a political candidate?
I must say, the voices here sound remarkably similar to the voices of Democrats in 2004. There was lots of vitriol but little positivity. Little hope. Little optimism. Lots of namecalling and judging, but few ideas. No wonder their candidate lost!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Think of the movie “The Sting” …that’s what Obama the Rev.Wright, DAVID Axelrod and his band of Chicago thugs, ex-cons, slick misters and smoke and mirrors specialiest are about to pull off.
For years when the National Anthem is played it’s easy to see who respects and loves this country by noticing who’s shuffling around and not interested , won’t place their hand over their heart . Go to the National Archives in Washington DC to view the Three Most Important Documents in the Free World and notice who’s standing in line and who’s not in line ( no one that even favors Obama will be waiting). – ‘Cause we ’bout to put one over on ‘da Man’ .. den it bes pay-back time . Obama wants it both ways …keep one foot in the hood while flim-flaming Mr. Honkey. When Rev. Wright said Obama’s a politican …I’m a preacher…ment ‘throw me overboard for ‘the cause’ and i’ll see ‘ya in the oval office’ Bro… So step right up to the window ladies and gentlemen ( if you can no longer live with all that ‘White Guilt’) and place yur bets on the fast (talking) horse , but don’t take the time to peek into the back room ’cause David Axelrod will deny every thing and and accuse you of bring a racist, and Lord knows that will leave another mark.
Other than that may God continue to bless the greatest country on earth.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
What does Hillary think about abortion and homosexuality? Where’s her flag pin? What does she think about her husband’s adultery? Why did Bill invite all the black ministers he could think of (including Rev. Wright) to the White House for his moment of supposed atonement? You can choose your pastor and you can also choose your philandering husband.

To #110 I HAPPEN NOT TO BE A RADICAL REPUBLICAN, AND I ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO LOOK AT ANYONE WHO IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT AND PUT THEM UNDER A MICROSCOPE. I DO KNOW IF OTHER CANDIDATES HAD TIES TO INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE SAID AND DONE THINGS SUCH AS BHO HAS, THEY WOULD HAVE THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS WASHED DOWN THE DRAIN. LETS SAY JOHN McCAIN OR HILLARY WENT TO A CHURCH AND THIER PASTOR HAD WENT TO GERMANY WITH DAVID DUKE, HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD BE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT?
May 14th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Why doesn’t everyone take a step back and think of the situation:
Obama:
-Hard working family man (ie. one wife)
-Voted for education benefits for veterans
-Donated over $150,000 to charity
-Made his tax returns public
Mccain:
-Admitted to an adulterous first marriage (ie. got caught cheating…moved to next wife)
-His second wife is a drug addict who admitted to stealing from her own workplace
-Voted against education benefits for veterans (called it too generous)
-Founding Member of the Keating Five (senators accused of corruption)
-Hiding all tax returns in wifes name

[...] In Kentucky, he is making a direct appeal to Evangelicals with flyers that mention his conversion experience and they highlight a big old cross. Remember Mike Huckabee’s supposed subliminal cross in his Christmas campaign ad? Well, the Obama campaign ditches the subliminal and goes for the in your face cross. Look at the flyer here. [...]

Carl, Hillary’s resume of connections to “bad i ndividuals” is far longer than most people’s…and McCain (whom i like) has a very disturbing history as well…check out the “Keating 5″, for example
May 14th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
This is beautiful. We’ve waited so long for a Democrat who has some kind of clue on how to WIN.
That’s what all the right-wing haters are reacting to. A Democrat is finally claiming their proper label as the Christian party. Would Jesus wear a flag pin? Would Jesus reward the rich while cutting education funding, dismantling Head Start, VETOING HEALTH CARE FOR POOR CHILDREN?
And of course, would Jesus start a war with a country that was no threat to us?
Would Jesus use everyone’s anger and hatred to get his way- raising phony gay marriage and illegal immigration issues to obscure his other harmful policies?
Obama is a man whose works actually testify to a life that is guided by service and higher principles. He has a right to claim that his actions are informed by his faith.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Buddy (#13): You completely disgust me. You are bitter, uneducated and racist. West Virginia and Kentucky are two of the most uneducated, racist states in America. To call yourselves “down to earth” when so many voters in the two states admitted that race is why they wouldn’t vote for Obama goes to show just how insanely backward the two states are. I find it very telling that Clinton’s wheelhouse is the “uneducated” vote. I’m fairly certain that I don’t want the uneducated part of the population tasked with choosing who is best to run America.

You do have a right to examine the candidates under a microscope. You do have the right to not like someone based on what their pastor says. I am also not calling everyone on this place a radical Republican.
Let me put it in words that you can understand.
I DON’T DISAGREE WITH YOU!!!
May 14th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Wow, listen to all these very “Christian” comments. You’re all a sterling example of living your faith.
Are there any bigger hypocrites than “Christians In Name Only?”
You people are utterly idiotic and clueless.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Say what you will, I bet Obama wouldnt have made 2 of the most outgrageous Presidential mistakes of the last 2 occupants…
1) unlike Bill, I think he has enough respect for the Office to keep his pants zipped
2) unlike GW, I think he will not rush into a poorly planned war which will kill 1000’s of citizens and bankrupt the country
May 14th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
How sad to see the many uneducated people that post here.
Folks, you need to read & educate yourselves A lot more on the candidates rather than getting your education from talk radio & these right wing bobbleheads.

May 14th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
The idea that Barack Hussien Obama’s faith is so important to him yet he didn’t have the where withall to judge his pastors racist and repulsively unchristian actions is patently absurd. Not only do I call into question the idea of Obama being a real Christian whatsoever but I would go so far as to say that if he actually is then our Lord is looking and with fierce anger at the voting record of this counterfiet. America may judge Mr. Obama’s actions as presidential or not but heaven help him when he has to stand in front of the real judge when he is called to account.

For the record, Obama is not Muslim and did not take the oath of office on the Koran. Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison is the congressman who swore in on the Koran. Barack Obama is a Christian (supposedly), and he took the Oath of Office on a Bible. Look it up on Google.

This same flyer was available here in NC, among other flyers about his Christianity. It is a shame that he HAS to prove his Christianity due to rumors and slurs. I was raised to love all people and that a relationship with God was sacred and personal. I think that the Republicans better worry about how to keep thier seats rather than questions everyone else’s religious views.

How do Christians like Obama jusify the murder of the unborn?
May 14th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Obama doesn’t miss a trick. He leaves nothing to chance, not even which kind of mustard to use on his hamburgers to improve his image with voters.
As for mixing religion with poliics. His mentor and pattern–Saul Alinsky–promoted using partnerships with liberal christian churches to promote the political agenda of socialism. That’s what Reverend Wright’s church is all about. Do good works and sell political marxist political programs at the same time.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Really? The questions behind Obama should not be about religion or his pastor. This guy is doing a great job at bringing much needed international credibility back to the American Table. He is working on uniting the spirit of America and Democracy in nations around the world that have been turned off by our current administration’s policies. Clinton is no better than the rest of them; she is looking for the best exit strategy for herself and just simply does not appeal to the international community. I am a registered republican and even i am getting tired of all of the bigotry talk and hate speak about Obama and his religion….Grow up and look at the BIG PICTURE. Once you get it fine tuned, vote Obama in 08!!!

Joe, I will answer my own question. No, it is not far-fetched; both Obama and
Clinton find rubes to be stupid and gullible. Of the two, Hillary certainly has more audacity,
after a career of being pro-gun control now talking like Pistol Packin’ Mama. After making,
with her philandering husband, $109 million during the last four years, accusing Obama of
being some tea party snob. But Obama, to his credit, got the memo from West Virginia. Skip the real
grown-up issues and get right to the hocus-pocus, and convince people he’s a Christian, not a Muslim. On the topic of religion, only McCain is being true to himself and not talking to people like they’re idiots. He practices no religion, and doesn’t try to deceive people about
it.

They justify it by caring about more important issues first aka the economy, foreign policy, the war, the falling dollar, better health care etc. I personally don’t agree with abortion but I recognize that there are more pressing issues.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Neither party can claim to be the “Christian” party. Quit the rhetoric, people. Christians are called to give to pay taxes, obey the law (those that don’t break God’s laws), and help the poor, sick, and defenseless. That means protect people who are born and also unborn fetuses (Latin word for “baby”, for all you folks who hide behind PC-lingo). Jesus Christ tells us to give. Christians should not expect the government to provide handouts to them. The best thing we can hope for is a government that will protect the innocent, free us from taxes, and allow/empower people to be able to help others, freely without government regulations. Whoever is elected, we need a government that provides defense, roads and supports the rule of law. We don’t need government to redistribute wealth — it’s our job to give !!! Those of you who are lazy and seeking the government to take care of you — you are not owed healthcare or jobs or anything. Rely on God, not the government.

andyK, I understand now. Anyone who doesn’t think like you is fascist. Funny thing is, I’ve done my homework on Barack because MSM doesn’t dare give the public the real story. (It would short circut their money train) I knew about TUCC back in December. Which then lead to Rezko, (Cesspool of Corruption trail) which lead to Auchi, (Oil for food scandle that rocked european politics) which lead to Farrahkan and on and on and on. Capone politics, that’s what Barack is about. No one sits in a church that spews heavy doses anti-american, anti-white, anti-jew rants and then ever so politly calls themselves a christian. I respectfully ask that you refrain from insulting my intelligence. Simply present some perspectives and let people decide for themselves. No need to call people names.

I’m a life-long republican, a Navy Veteran (served under Reagan(greatest prez ever), Bush, and Clinton) and Obama may be the first democrat I ever vote for.
I used to think racism was all but dead in this country, that racism was only manufactured by the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, et al, what I’m reading here and the results of the W Va primary prove otherwise. Racism is alive and well.
All of you spewing venom and vitriol are hypocrites. No wonder the left thinks you’re a bunch of whackos…
Let’s talk about who’s done what for the military. You all think GW is so great, but he sent our
troops in to a land based on bad, incompetent intelligence (note to self: before invading a country, make sure you double, no, triple check the intelligence). So 4000+ of our kids are dead now because, let’s face it, GW’s handlers were bent on finishing the work they wanted his dad to do (to Bush Sr’s credit, he chose not to go to Bahgdad for the reason’s we see now). Our troops come home to delapidated facilities, substandard care…yeah, GW is sooo great.
Give me a break.

May 14th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Faith, Hope, and WHAT?? Ahem, it’s supposed to be Love, NOT CHANGE! Change can be in any direction. Saying you’re for change is downright stupid. An Ice Age would be change, but we’re certainly not for that. WHAT KIND OF CHANGE, Barry? No, I don’t think I’m into pinko kommunism!
IMHO if he truly is a Christian, he wouldn’t have subverted the Apostle Paul’s words of Faith, Hope, and Love for his own purposes.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I would like everyone to take a look around at what is happening under the current administration:
-Food prices going up
-Gas prices going up
-Current housing crisis getting worse
-Dollar losing its value
Our problems are so much bigger than who is being disputed here. Face it, the last 8 years under Bush have made our country worse.
If you disagree with the previous statement than you should vote for Mccain since he shares the same policies as Bush. If you agree with the statement than you should vote for Obama.
Not too difficult if you look at it. However, if you want to trade policy and fact for gossip than go ahead and continue with the nonsense…

And gee, I wonder where they got those two ideas.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Mr. Obama should demonstrate his faith by talking about freeing he people to take care of ourselves, not expecting gov’t handouts. Free us to make better lives for ourselves and others. I don’t see less government in his ideas. How can he justify more government? We already got that from G.W.Bush !!! President Bush grew the gov’t and liberals are still not satisfied.
Ridiculous that anyone thinks we need more.

Most of the comments here are repulsive to say the least. Many of you are sanctimonuos hypocrites just like Pat Robertson.Agreed, Obama is no saint just like all of us, but going by the rants of many of these commentators here, he is an angel. In 2001, right after 9/11, Pat Robertson dubiously said he made a video and asked for $25 for those who wanted a copy. Foolishly, ( I guess cos of the raw emotions and wanting answers to the sheer horror of the attacks) I sent $25. Till date I have not seen the video inspite of email contacts etc. I have copies of the email transactions for whoever wants to see them. ( I kept them plus my credit card receipts) PAT ROBERTSON CASHED IN ON 9/11!

I was in Louisville this past weekend (allow a proud father to announce his daughter’s graduation from the University of Louisville’s Law School!!) and saw a number of Obama, Clinton and Mitch (gag me) McConnell commercials. I saw nothing resembling what this author states. What I saw from the presidential campaigns were largely repeats of I saw here in Ohio during primary campaigning.

May 14th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
It is sad to see how the comments on this blog are full of hatred. As Christians we need to welcome everyone in our community and do not judge. What you are doing is judging a man who openly admitted that he is a man of GOD. What we should not do as Christians is put words in another man’s mouth. The Goddamn America statement did not come form Barack Obama; it came from a man that led him to Jesus Christ. I do not agree with his ex-pastors statement but I am glad he brought him to Jesus. Barack Obama is poised to become the next President of this great nation so for for him to know Jesus should be an added bonus to his leadership. Go to Barack Obama’s website or search the internet to get to know him and about his issues. Find out about how he intends to take this nation out of a war without end and an economy on the verge of recession.

Why is it that everyone brings up abortion when we talk religion? Face it – religious and non-religious people both get abortions – this is a reality. We are humans with real human problems and situations. I don’t see how another persons abortion is affecting you. If you don’t believe in abortions than don’t have one.
And if you are following the bible word for word than you must of course believe in the following:
Death for Adultery – Leviticus 20:10
Death to Followers of Other Religions – Exodus 22:19
Death to the Rape Victim – Deuteronomy 22:23-24
If you say I’m cherry picking facts than by virtue you are doing the same…
May 14th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
I’ve never visited this website before. So these are the gut reactions of a first time reader: some of these commenters have no business claiming to be Christians, not by any of the denominations I have heard of. Obama has been sharply criticized by many traditional democrats because he has long been open and positive about the role of his faith in his life and work. At the same time he was under fire for the statements of his Christian minister, he was also the target of a vicious email smear campaign accusing him of being a radical Muslim. Now he is criticized here for trying to set the record straight. Seems he can never satisfy some people, who hide behind claims of suspicions about his religious beliefs and when these are rebutted simply assert some other specious reason to assail him. This is not only distinctly unChristian (judge not, least you…) its also counter to the American values of fair play and giving everyone, regardless of race, gender, creed, the same access to opportunity as long as they were willing to work for it. This site is screaming with venom and hatred. I won’t be back.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
I like this approach, because he is doing what George Bush did successfully in 2000, try to unite a coalition of unlikely voters. He will win the nomination and after he is done, he can approach sensible people like myself, I was a McCain supporter, until he started pandering to the ultra-right wing, then he lost me. Obama is doing something that Kerry didn’t do, or Gore didn’t do, which is to appeal to voters with words like hope and faith, sure, no substance, Bush didn’t have any either, in fact the only reason I voted for him was because I thought Gore was too uppity. Obama is the first democrat that is trying to break the stereotype that Democrats are atheists that don’t believe in Jesus.
He’s a born again Christian. And that.. my friends (as Grampy McCain would say) is going to resonate across the country, except of course with the racists who wouldn’t vote for a non-white, or the ultra right wingers, which most on this board are, and that’s ok, we know you won’t vote for Obama.
It’s people like me, who have voted Republican on my conservative views (Pro-Gun, Anti-Abortion, Pro-Smaller government) that will make the difference, I personally don’t have a high opinion of blacks. Most are welfare draining, Gang infested, poorly educated, and violent.. but not all.
And yet I can look past the color of his skin, because he transcends all that, and I will vote for him.

How dare you “Christians” condemn Obama like this! How dare you tear down your fellow man! You are hypocrites! I am a Christian. I am pro-choice, I am against the death penalty, I support civil unions, I support stem cell research, and I support Barack Obama for president. I am not going to hell for these things. You are not better than me. Obama is a Christian, and how dare you judge otherwise? Apparently I am an idiot. I suppose my top tier degrees prove that. Give me a break!
The rift in America is not between red and blue, it is between hateful divisive Christians and the rest of the country (including many other Christians who stand against hate and divisiveness).
Stop questioning a man’s faith. It’s hypocrites like you that are the reason he has to send these mailers. The forces of division cause anti-liberals to spread the very lies that force Obama to send out these mailers. If you “evangelical Christians” were honest, then you would listen to the man and accept him as a brother in Christ. I am proud to be a Christian, I am proud to be a Democrat, and I know that these two things do not conflict. Furthermore, I am proud to stand up against the stereotype that says all Christians are hypocritical, obsessive-conservative haters. I am proud to stand up for justice.

Does any of this even matter these days??? I did a paper for college to find out how many people vote for canidates based on the issues and the number was surprisingly low. It seems as if this nation of party politics can only be changed if instead of voting for a republican because our parents are republicans (same goes for democrats) we vote for the real issues… good luck on that…

I thought he wanted to distance himself from his pastor… Yet it says “…active members of their church in Chicago.” Doesn’t seem to be distancing himself AT ALL from Rev. Wright.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Obama is too closely connected to Islam.
Muslims are at the root of most global terrorist incidents. Jaipur, India yet another incident of horrible Muslim violence. Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, much of Africa, almost all of the middle east. Now much of Europe due to Europe’s immigration policies. Severe crime waves instigated by Muslims are causing large problems in Scandinavia, Netherlands, Spain, the UK, south eastern Europe…and more. Even Australia has problems with these people hiding behind the false classification of Islam as a religion. More and more it is proven that:
- Muslims are not policing themselves
- Muslims allow village justice to be run by local imams
- Muslims spreading a doctrine of hate and vengeance
The core of their drive is to spread and over populate no matter where they are..so that their numbers can drive home a hateful message. It’s not about being right and just, it’s about being the majority. Then it does not matter if you are right or wrong.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
I can’t believe that people have the audacity to bash Barak Obama because of his faith. That is a truly negative reaction to a very positive message. Even if you’re not Christian, why react so negatively??? He is doing nothing wrong here – he has been a known Christian for many years of his life. Even if you don’t agree with his politics, shame on whoever chooses to attack him, or any other candidate for choosing to connect with voters based on shared religious values.

I have a question to all those basing their vote on ABORTION / GAY MARRIAGE…
Are these your biggest concerns in life?…REALLY?
Are gay marriages making the dollar weaker?
Are abortions causing the housing crisis?
Are gay couples secretly raising gas prices on you and your family?
Are abortions causing illiteracy in our country?
If they are then please excuse my ignorance…
May 14th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Funny: this doesn’t look like Rev. Wright.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Raising our taxes, installing a Windfall Profits Tax that this raise gas prices and send investment overseas (as it did before), nationalizing our healthcare and rationing it, spending 100 billion dollars to say you are creating jobs (the fed doesn’t create jobs), doing away with tax incentives for corporations that send any jobs overseas (fine, they will move all of their operations overseas), these things are not doing God’s work. They are the deeds of a “community organizer” (is that another name for the local drug dealer or what) who knows zero about economics.
I am starting on a plan to hide all of my cash and assets as this guy wants to take it all.
As a vet, I have a statement for Obama, when you stop killing the unborn babies in this country come talk to me about Iraq.
Exactly what does “his” bible tell him about abortion and gays? He would probably say, don’t mix religion and politics. THEN WHY THE DAMNED BROCHURE?

Wow, “Elijah”…..been off your meds long?
May 14th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Wow. After reading some the comments on this page, I wonder if I’m truly a conservative. Most of the comments on this page are not expressed with the spirit of Christ, but rather the bigotry and conceit of men. There is a disconnect here between love and truth, if you want to represent Christ you must have both. Be critical of views, love people. The best way to point out faults in a candidate is to present rational criticism of their view points, not run off on tangents and red herrings. Especially the racial stuff, as a 25 yr. old, socially-conservative, Black man, that really disappoints me.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
What is sad is that this is evidently a conservative site and I agree whole heartedly with just about every comment. Hopefully you people will get out and help Hillary campaign against Obama, because if you do not help her get the nomination, you are taking the chance that Obama could win in November. You might not like Hillary, but honestly “folks” wouldn’t it be an easier pill to swollow if it were Hillary rather than Obama that won in November? Can you honestly take a chance of having a president that attends a black separatist church with a bigot pastor?
May 14th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
To Steve (#219)…
When you stop killing born children in Iraq you can talk to me about abortion
May 14th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Are you kidding?…Abortion is the the genecide of millions of innocent children. The question is, how could you possibly care about the value of the dollar or losing your house when this is going on? The fact that Obama would even try this tells me that he really has no faith relationship with our creator…you can’t when you support the slaughter of millions of our God’s innocent creation.
His view of abortion was summed up when he said that “if my daughter got pregnant, why should she be punished again with a child”…life is a gift not a punishment.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
To John(223)….
I haven’t killed any babies John. I don’t know of any American soldier who has intentionally killed any either.
Abortion requires “intent”.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Obama is a very intelligent man. But he is either ignorant of basic economics, or else he is pandering with his comments about “Big Oil”.
Exxon Mobil made 10% profit on sales last year. Microsoft made 20%. Is Obama going to apply a windfall profits tax on Microsoft?
Most people – maybe 90% – pay for their gas with credit cards, who charge a fixed percentage (usually 3%) for each sale. So the credit card companies have also had a “windfall” increase in profit – with no additional work or expenses! Is Obama going after them?
No. Of course not. He just has to build up a bad guy, a “special interest” to save his adoring minions from.
Pandering. They all do it, but he is taking it to a higher level.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
hey john, here are the facts on Exxon profits: “Exxon broke the record it previously had set for profits by a U.S. corporation, earning $40.6 billion last year. It earned $11.7 billion in the fourth quarter, or $2.13 a share, up 14 percent from the fourth quarter of 2006. Revenue for the quarter rose 30 percent, to $116.64 billion. Exxon’s profit for the year came to $4.6 million an hour.
Chevron said its profit rose 29 percent, to $4.9 billion, or $2.32 a share. Chevron’s quarterly revenue grew 29 percent, to $61.41 billion. Profits of the five biggest international oil companies have tripled since 2002.” (washington Post)
When they are making record profits at the expense citizens. THATS a legitimate issue

Whether Obama is a true Christian or not should NOT be the question we ask in the voting booth this November. I am a Christian who attends a large church and I can think of many devout followers of Jesus Christ for whom I would NEVER want elected president. Just as being a Christian does not qualify a person to be anything from an auto mechanic to a brain surgeon, neither does it qualify an individual to be president of the United States. Obama is not qualified to run my small business, let alone the most powerful nation on earth.
More important than his lack of qualifications are his ideas and proposed policies, which are bad for America. They would increase the tax burden, increase the intrusion of government in our lives, reduce personal freedom and responsibility, and destroy our economy, and make the world a more dangerous place to live.
Don’t vote for Obama just because he makes you “feel” good or you think he’s a “nice, Christian guy” or because you think he “cares” more. We need a president who has the qualifications and experience to actually lead this nation–not just make nice speeches about it.

I don’t think anyone would argue that abortion is good. It’s bad.
When someone is contemplating taking the abortion route, they’re doing their best to pick a lesser of evils. Life is hard enough when you have a good start, it’s torture if you have a bad start.
It’s odd that people that are anti-abortion, as I am…are usually the ones the support the wars, I don’t.
I hope this isn’t clear because life isn’t clear. The wrold is not black and white, one size fits all, it’s technicolor.

Mike, Obama had the judgement to oppose the Iraq war…which means if he had been President our country would not be in a recession, would be 100’s of billions of dollars richer, and over 4,000 dead US soldiers would be alive today…not to mention the fact that our invasion seems to have made Iran the powerhouse of the Middle East..all in all, an Obama presidency sounds pretty good to me

Death for Fornication – A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)
Kill People Who Don’t Listen to Priests – Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

Wow – this is something… to read some of what self proclaimed, “Christians” are writing about another human being.
First and foremost he is your fellow man, regardless of your political beliefs and deserves at least that much respect,
according to the Bible. But, this slandering and uproar that I’ve read on this site is making me question who a lot of you
actually serve?
Since the 1990’s there has been an iron wedge driven in this country between democrats and republicans, that has only
been magnified in the last 8 years. Regardless of who wins the White House this fall, we need to address our home and
our fellow Americans. We need to get things fixed at home and it starts with reaching out to the other side. At the end of
the day, we’re all God’s children and equal in his eyes… so we need to start there. Yes we may disagree… and sometimes a lot
BUT, that should not lead us to hate the other party w/ such a viral disgust. We are the products of the left and right radio
stations that further the divide.
I don’t care who you vote for, but for those of yall who wrote things like, stay out of WV and KY – how dare you come here, etc.
Think about who else might be reading what you write…
May 14th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Wow! I can’t believe all the hateful messages above. And you people call yourselves Christians! Christ taught me ‘Judge not, lest ye yourselves be judged’. And yet you would all choose to judge Obama not on what he himself believes, speaks and has DONE for the past several decades with his actions. You would rather judge him on what liars like the bigoted, arrogant Rush Limbaugh and the obsessed-with-talking about-nothing -else-but-Obama, Sean Hannity, say about him and completely blow out of proportion!
Don’t you THINK that if Obama truly believed waht Rev. Wright has preached and Ayers has done, that some incidents of such hateful behavior would have actually shown up in his life?! Or, perhaps, you already have some other hateful liars blogging some made-up nonsense in cyberspace!
Please people, when you meet the Almighty at the end of your lives, you will be judged by the same qualities which Christ taught us – judge not and love your brothers and sisters -esp. the least amongst us!
God please forgive them for they know not what they do!

No big surprise that the same pinheads condemn him for insisting, publicly, that he is a Christian. Their goal is to find fault and the reason is secondary. All those folks out there casting the first stone — and the second stone — and the third stone. Sure must be a lot of folks out there who think they’re without sin.

for someone to allow and support partial birth abortion is not christ-like; to attend a church where your pastor damns america the place where you were given every opportunity to achieve and succeed your dream is not christ-like. any person has the right and obligation to investigate thoroughly the person who may be the next president of the united states. barack hussein obama has never had a real job – a community organizer, what does that mean, has the experience of being a college professor, a real job if i’ve ever known one – summers off, 4 hour work-days, tough work. three years in the senate and out campaigning for 2 of them. i can look at his actions, make a critical assessment and realize he’s not the answer for our country.

May 14th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Is it Christian to attend a Church which condemns our government? Ask WWJD. Would he not have empathy for the oppressed? Would he not stand up to a government which practiced cruelty and spread war and inequity?
Obama is a Christian by choice and the media has unfairly smeared him as being something else. He has every right to set the record straight on his own faith; no one has the right to choose his faith or confuse the public on his choices. Americans deserve to know how faith will influence their candidate and how faith will shape his policy. Obama has explained this well not only on the podium but in the poor neighborhoods.
He may not support every Christian conservative principle (Abortion for example). yes he is a flawed candidate, which he himself has admitted in humility. Contrary to the republican ticket however, he opposes war, helps the poor, and gives hope to the hopeless. He is more a Christian in Deed than the other candidates.

I hope you all read what all of you have written. Then realize what angry, misguided words, and even hatered you have put out. How many of you have read Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount? How many of you realize that what you think you really are?
Are your souls so warped that you don’t remember the words Jesus spoke? All the twisted, taken out of text, hatered words that have been used against this man, for what reason? Is that what you are taught in YOUR Church’s. Is that what you teach your children? Hatred, misinformation, lies, do those things make you a better soul, or do they destroy and blacken your own soul?
Both canidates should be considered on the actual facts of the policies that they put forth on how they want to govern and lead this country. They should be chosen on where they stand on the issues, on the war in Iraq, on future premptive wars, on the envirnoment, (it will only take one bad year of crop failure for this country to have wide spread famine) on how they will lead in the recovery of this enconomy, what their policies are on health care, social security, education, immigration. Obama is not Rev. Wright (even though the media tried to make it so) McCain is not Rev. Hauge, or Rev. Parsly, (even if he sought their endorsements).
All Catholic priests are not pedofiles. Jesus said “Judge not, for as Ye judge so shall you be judged”. So if you spew out this garbage and misinformation and lies, to destroy others so will those words destroy yourselves. I went on You Tube last night for the first time. This country is in big trouble if we have become so full of this kind of filthy hatered. For all you misinformed, hatred, gossipers THINK is this what you really believe that Christ wanted? Are you really being a Christian? Only you know that answer, remember when you die you won’t be able to lie.

el polacko,
I understand why you think its hypocritical to bash Bush’s policies and support Obama here. However I think the difference I’d like to point out at least, is that Obama is simply trying to identify his faith and values so that we understand how they will play a role in influencing his decisions. He is not promising to make religious principles into policy directly.
Also, I dont mind if Obama would make religous principles into policy if they were things like turn the other cheek and love thy neighbor. I had problems with Bush making religion into policy because I worry he may believe that he is personally responsible for kicking off the Apocalypse. Just kidding, but I do disagree with Bush’s values. He believes a little too much in the crusade r and not enough of the Shepherd.

If there is a single open-minded anti-Obama Christian out there, please read the attached transcript of his recent interview on Meet The Press and see if you still think he is the devil incarnate! Of course, when you read the transcript, you cannot see/hear the sincerity which comes across when he speaks, you cannot see the genuine, unforced smile, which comes across from time to time (compare the forced smiles of Clinton and McCain), but at least you can hear the way he himself answers some of the questions people have about his character and agenda.

partial birth abortions are only done when the life of the mother is in jeopardy. and they are only done with many many medical tests that confirm the fact that the mother will die if she carry’s the baby to term. the agony of this decission on the mother and father of that unborn child has to be horrendous. now if your wife or mother would die with out the proceedure would you let her die?? would you let your other children be without a mother in order to save one that is not born yet?
if your father raped you should you carry his child? if any one raped you should you be forced to have that child, and forced to have your rapist in your life for the next 18 years as he is the father of that child? if your 12 year old or teen daughter is raped does she forced to bear a child. i don’t believe in abortion without good reason. i do believe that each person should have the right to decide what is best for them. i do believe that all the help and counceling should be available so that this decission isn’t taken lightly. i don’t believe that any person has a right to forceably deny a woman’s right to choose. there are so many ways to prevent pregnancy that those ways should be available to all. and everyone who thinks about an abortion should have to really see the consequences of that action. but its their choice.

I am a Christian. I find Senator Obama’s thoughts on living the Christian life very humbling. He is walking the talk, like the the Good Samaritan. That takes a lot of courage, especially when there are so many people trying to tear him down.
I am sure that people at the Inn laughed at and scorned the Good Samaritan, but he did what was right.
See what Senator Obama wrote on his Senate website about what being a Christian means to him:
http://obama.senate.gov/speech/060628-call_to_renewal/
It’s all very simple (and very difficult): Christ told Christians to follow Him and 2 rules (from the Old Testament):
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Everything else that leads away from this is just a distraction, which Satan is only too happy to have you do.

Taken from Matthew 7:15-20
15. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
The “Fruit” spoken about in this passage concerns a Christian producing other Christians. The fruit produced is other people led to belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. As a “Committed Christian” where is that fruit in Obama’s life if he says he is doing “The Lord’s work”? Where are the people he has led to accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior? Who is he discipling in the Word?
I am not suppose to judge, that is God’s job. But it does say that I can be a fruit inspector.

Please learn to read !!!! Did you graduate high school ?
I did not say he was Muslim..maybe he is maybe he’s not
What I said was that “he is too closely connected to Islam”
===========================================================
His relatives are Muslim
Some of his many friends are radical Muslims .. ==>>>>> Louis Farrakhan
Addressing a crowd of some 20,000 people at the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours’ Day celebration in February 2008, Farrakhan said that presidential candidate Barack Obama represented the “hope of the entire world” that the United States might become a better neighbor to other nations.
Barack Obama’s longtime minister, mentor, and sounding board has been a key supporter of Louis Farrakhan and last month honored the Nation of Islam leader for lifetime achievement.
Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals. He has called whites “blue-eyed devils†and the “anti-Christ.†He has described Jews as “bloodsuckers†who control the government, the media, and some black organizations.
“Do you know some of these satanic Jews have taken over BET [the Black Entertainment Network]?†Farrakhan said in a speech on Nov. 11, 2007. “Everything that we built, they have. The mind of Satan now is running the record industry, movie industry, and television. And they make us look like we’re the murderers; we look like we’re the gangsters, but we’re punk stuff.â€
The month after that speech, Obama’s minister and friend, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. and his Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, honored Farrakhan at a gala, bestowing on him its Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer award.

It seems to me that Barack and his Pastor Wright have their venues mixed up.
Pastor Wright should be spewing his venom from the political podium and Barack should be preaching from the church pulpit.
May 14th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Obama’s friend and spiritual leader, Mr. Wright’s friend and hero, a radical Muslim named Louis Farrakhan endorsing people that have a black father and white mother.
There must be something special about that kind of combination. Something twisted and warped.
This garbage is too close to Obama … can you imagine Louis Farrakhan sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom..as did many of the Clinton guests when the Clintons were in the White House? This is entirely insulting.
I can’t image Mr Wright sleeping at the White House either..especially after he said that it was whites that invested AIDs to get rid of blacks..that is pure insanity and EVIL.
Radicalism, severe racism, Islamic ideals are way too close to the highest office of this country..I dont like it one bit.
===============================================
CHICAGO (AP) – In his first major public address since a cancer crisis, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said Sunday that presidential candidate Barack Obama is the “hope of the entire world” that the U.S. will change for the better.
The 74-year-old Farrakhan, addressing an estimated crowd of 20,000 people at the annual Saviours’ Day celebration, never outrightly endorsed Obama but spent most of the nearly two-hour speech praising the Illinois senator.
“This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better,” he said. “This young man is capturing audiences of black and brown and red and yellow. If you look at Barack Obama’s audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed.”
Farrakhan compared Obama to the religion’s founder, Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father.
“A black man with a white mother became a savior to us,” he told the crowd of mostly followers. “A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall.”
May 14th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Even Sean Penn has something to say about Obama
â€I don’t have a candidate I’m supporting and I’m certainly interested and excited by the hope that Barack Obama is inspiring,†he said, but went on to accuse him of a “phenomenally inhuman and unconstitutional†voting record.
a “phenomenally inhuman and unconstitutional†voting record
humm…just wait until he becomes elected and he gets myriad Whitehouse visits by his bedfellows Wright and Farrakhan
By the way, I think it is appropriate that Obama is an Illinois senator..after ie refrence to the Chicago Daley political syndicate. Not exactly honest folks these days around Chicago..for for the past 100+ yrs anyway
==================================================================================
Why Is Chicago So Corrupt? And how do you measure corruption, anyway?
Former Illinois Gov. George Ryan received a sentence of six and a half years in prison on Wednesday, after being convicted on charges of racketeering, mail fraud, filing false tax returns, and lying to investigators. The Chicago Sun-Times reports that in the last three decades, at least 79 local elected officials have been convicted of a crime, including three governors, one mayor, and a whopping 27 aldermen from the Windy City. What makes Chicago so corrupt?
City government experts point to a political culture that’s been in place for more than 100 years. This culture dates back to the late 19th century, when a gambling-house owner named Michael Cassius McDonald created the city’s first political machine. Under machine-style rule, those in power would hand out contracts, jobs, and social services in exchange for political support.
Chicago’s large immigrant population made it easier for political machines to grow in power. Poor ethnic communities could be played off against one another and manipulated with petty gifts. In exchange for political support, ethnicities would be given virtual fiefdoms within city government; the Irish, for example, were given police work, and the Italians jobs at the transit authority.
In Chicago, corruption persisted, to some degree because the city never had the benefit of a reformist mayor like New York City’s Fiorello LaGuardia, who had political ties to FDR. Instead, Chicago moved towards a one-party system that made it even more vulnerable to corruption: The city’s last Republican mayor left office in 1931. Today, not even the Democratic primaries are competitive—for the most part, once you’re in office, you stay there. The weak campaign finance laws in Illinois probably helped to stave off competition in recent years.
The star power of Chicago politicians may also contribute to the city’s continuing problems with corruption. Incumbents tend to be big personalities who get celebrity coverage in the local papers—which sometimes translates into ethical leeway from voters. (In cities like Los Angeles and New York, local politicians take a back seat to the media celebs.)
Bonus Explainer: How do we know that Chicago’s so corrupt? The most straightforward way to measure corruption is to check the number of convicted local officials. Between 1995 and 2004, 469 politicians from the federal district of Northern Illinois were found guilty of corruption. The only districts with higher tallies were central California (which includes L.A.), and southern Florida (which includes Miami). Eastern Louisiana (and New Orleans) rank somewhat further down the list.
But a high conviction count doesn’t necessarily mean more corruption. It could mean that a district happens to have very strict transparency laws or a zealous and effective federal prosecutor—like Patrick Fitzgerald in Chicago. You might try to measure corruption by checking the number of city employees per 1,000 people. (Bigger governments suggest patronage-style politics.) Or you could check to see how long it takes to acquire a construction permit through legal means. (Long delays may reflect a system of rampant bribery.)
Public perception may be the most useful measure. If the inhabitants of a city view corruption as a given, they’ll be more inclined to forgive politicians who have already been tainted by scandal, like Chicago’s current mayor, Richard Daley.

Obama might be the false prophet of the coming mystical messiah figure – the Mahdi –
May 14th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Ignorance flourishes…
Doug Forrester (#8) asks “why does it matter?” to those campaign volunteers who would assure voters that Barrack Obama is not Muslim. It matters because no one should be so ignorant to think he is. No one should be that stupid and voting. This campaign in literature is doing knuckleheads a service and educating them about who Senator Obama is. Its an introduction…not indoctrination.
Andrew Sullivan wouldn’t be offended by this piece, no more than he think it offends to declare himself a practicing Roman Catholic. The “Christianist” behavior he denounces are those who claim their views are “more Christian” than another Christian. The behavior he abhors are those who show no humility and say they know what God wants, so they can deny others their religious or political freedom.
Sunny (#16) says Obama is “a hater at heart.” Really? Are you that perceptive, or are you just lazily hanging something Reverend Wright said around Barack Obama’s head? Because the overwhelming preponderence of everything Barack Obama has ever said or written suggests just the opposite. And, for the record, do a little research on your computer and look up the good works done by Reverend Wright’s church in Chicago. Haters? No! Sinners struggling to help their fellow human beings? Yes!
You should be so effective in your own life to feed millions and preach the Good Word to 20,000 people every Sunday.
May 14th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
As for the real issues, Mr OBAMA is more likely to be listened to by those oil producing countries that are in conflict with itself or with `others`, that are adding to to the instability in the oil market. Countries like nigeria, sudan, Iraq and Iran.
Mr. Macain will certainly have the same effect as Mr G.W. Bush. So think about it, do want you want to carry on as you where or do you want move forward on to new relationship with the world.

Barack practices Christian behavior by obeying the commandments that Jesus gave us to love thy neighbor as thyself, and to love God as one loves thy neighbor.
This sentiment is consistent with most world religions that recognize the inherent power of good in all people, just waiting to be called forth. That is what Barack’s campaign of Hope and Change We Can Believe In is about: calling on the power of good in We the People to change America for the better, to stop resorting to fascistically wrapping ourselves in flag colors and start acting again like we actually are a democracy– saying no to torture, falsely promulgated wars of empire for oil, and standing up for what needs to be done to protect the planet and all its inhabitants (not just those who have PACs).
This is not a message of judgement or fear/polarization, but one of Christian love (brotherly caring for the least among us) which is just what Christ (but not only Christ, Ghandi and MLK too) have practiced and modeled. Barack leads with and for the people, not above and against like some of our other recent “leaders” who can’t seem to shoot a skeet.

THE HOLY WAR:
A book by John Bunyan 1682
THE HOLY WAR:
“TAREâ€-ology Theology is being preached behind the Pulpit today!
Oh, Mansoul…
If you call yourself a Born Again Christian, but continue to live a life that reflects Diabolus, (SATAN) then you will go to HELL upon your death. You are a liar. You are as the ‘dog’ returned to its vomit…
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth NOT his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4
Approximately 2-1/2 years ago a pastor gave his personal testimony to his congregation.
He preached that after he asked / received / Jesus Christ into his heart, (via) one act of faith, one act of contrition, he continued to live in “object sin†without any evidence of a life change for the next three years.
He preached from the pulpit that he was ‘born again’ during that time and would have gone to heaven if he had died.
He preached saying that Christians can climb up “Backslidden Mountain†and retain their Salvation; that if they “die†in an unrepentant condition they would still attain heaven; they’d just lose their ‘rewards’.
That belief system, comes right out of the OSAS (Once Saved, always Saved) teachings of Calvinism, that teaches the Holy Spirit works slowly in transforming souls / lives from “darkness†into the “light.â€
This teaches that Christians can ‘serve’ two masters, and that the so-called “Predestinated Wheat†can live as TARES, and still attains heaven.
OSAS teaches that Christians can attain heaven by walking the “broad pathâ€, instead of the straight and narrow way as Christ teaches Christians to walk.
In my opinion, that’s the height of Apostasy, concerning the Word of God.

The Beware Beatitudes:
Beware of wolves bearing alms!
Beware lest any man betray you through philosophy and vain deceit.
Beware of evil workers.
Beware of the pithiness.
Beware of them, which love salutations and devour widows’ houses. (Like Jeremiah Wright)
Beware of them, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them.
Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Beware of them: for they will deliver you up to the councils.

May 14th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Whoa, these comments are a whole new level of stupid.
May 14th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
It is so funny to read so many comments. The vast Majority of men and women in uniform (the military) are Democrats or Independents, a few Republicans whom this time around including myself will VOTE OBAMA. It is funny, during slavery all blacks had was religion, during the Civil Rights Era all blacks had was Religion. Today many republicans believe religion should only be used as a wedge issue. Many Republicans preach racial hate, fear mongering and bigotry but uses Christ as a cover. OBAMA is about CHANGE, America needs and must go back to that moral High ground. I am so Happy that there is now a candidate that want to get us out of IRAQ and the Middle East. Republicans are lining their pockets with the spoils of WAR from Oil wealth, weaponry etc. It is time for CHANGE, as a Soldier that is why my fellow servicemembers ENDORSE OBAMA and will get our VOTE. 26 LONG YEARS JOHN MCCAIN DID NOTHING, that is why G.W. said McCain in 2000 wasn’t a real WAR HERO. He is not, where was John McCain for 18 months while men suffer in horid conditions. JOHN MCCAIN IS A MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. NOT THIS TIME, NOT THIS YEAR, NOT EVER. JOHN MCCAIN, THE GOP AND REPUBLICANS IN GENERAL IS NOT THE CHANGE WE SEEK. “CHANGE WE DESERVE” IS CORRECT AND IT IS NOT THE REPUBLICANS. OBAMA-HAGEL 2008 CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN, HOPE FOR A NEW TOMORROW BARACK OBAMA!

The religion taught at Obama’s Trinity United Church is Black Liberation Theology. This is a fringe religion that was created by James H. Cone and combines the teachings of the Black Power movement with certain selections from the Christian bible.
It claims black people are currently being oppressed by white people in America today.
It also calls for God to assist black people in the “destruction of the white enemy”.
It states that ALL white people are oppressors because they are all members of the ruling class, “whites”.
It states that white people are the sole cause of ALL problems in the black community.
It says that it is important for black people to hate white people. It claims that hatred of whites is not racist because it does not imply whites are inferior, just different.
It states that the current government is “white supremacist” and white people need to give control of the government over to black people to atone for the “sin of slavery”.
It says that white people must also pay black people reparations as part of their atonement for the “sin of slavery”.
It believes in a black Jesus, because, as James Cone states, black people cannot believe in a Jesus who is white and resembles their “oppressors”.
It also preaches against the separation of church and state, since Black Liberation Theology itself is a mixture of politics and religion.
Most black christian ministers say that Black Liberation Theology is a racist, anti-white religion. It is also a fringe religion as most black churches in America preach mainstream Christianity.
Many Catholics are unaware that he Pope has written extensively against Black Liberation Theology, calling it a “theology of bloody political revolution” that “thrives on perpetuating class struggle” and “is a threat to the faith of the Christian Church”.
All of the racist comments Reverend Wright made come from Black Liberation Theology. His speech at the National Press Club was preaching Black Liberation Theology, its mantra “not deficient, just different” referring to the religion’s claim that hatred of whites is not racist because it does not imply whites are inferior, just different.
James H Cone, the creator of Black Liberation Theology states that Trinity United Church, Obama’s church, is the one church in the United States that most embodies his religion.
Obama’s new pastor continues to preach Black Liberation Theology in Trinity United Church and Barack Obama is still a member of this church.
Barack Obama chose this religion and has attended this church for 20 years. His children have been brought up within this religion. He said that, on the rare occasions that he was unable to attend church, he obtained tapes of Reverend Wright’s sermons to listen to.
When Obama joined the church in 1992, he pledged a non-negotiable commitment to Africa and pledged to “remain true to our native land” – meaning Africa – as part of the church’s “Black Values System”.
It should be noted that, while many assert that this religion is Christian, it is quite different to mainstream Christianity. I should emphasize again that it takes only certain selections from mainstream Christianity and Jesus and God have been vastly re-interpreted. Theologians say that it bears little relation to the “historical” Jesus and the “historical” events of the bible.

That’s a good ad from a good person who seeks to live out Jesus message of love and justice. He, unlike so many bloggers, is not an apostle of hate. He genuinely wants all Americans to fulfill their dreams just as he, coming from a very poor family–unlike Hillary and McCain–,has been able to fulfill his dreams.
It is time that those folks, who profess so much love for Jesus, stop spewing such venom and hate for a man who truly seeks to translate his faith into love, justice and fairness for all people especially the powerless among us. And it is time for those Republicans, who think they have the corner on God, to refrain from untruthful statements, spitting out lies, distortions and engaging in smear tactics against Obama in order to tag him as a Muslim or person without a sense of decency and integrity. This form of politics is passe to the vast majority of decent Americans who want to make this country better, and redeem it from the failed policies and behavior of the Bush-Cheney years which so many people have suffered from both here at home as well as abroad.

I would think if people say others are ignorant for supporting Obama, then what do you say about people who support a 2 faced constantly lying Marxist (yes Hillary)?
On the insults of Bush and Chaney I bet none of you had ethics or integrity to find out the true stories. I say anyone who trashes Chaney because of his disabilities are the types who would spit on a child because he is crippled.
I don’t care for Bush either, I disagree with some of his policies, but there is no excuse for any human to be Hateful, Spiteful or Venomous to another human and should be ashamed of themselves, if they have any clue what shame is. Were your parents to ignorant to teach you Manners, Courtesy and Respect? If not how do you expect others to show you the same?

Hilarious!
Really, really funny stuff.
Not the ignorant parroting of the Hannity/Rush party line — that’s to be expected from those who are so easily duped and incapable of deciding their politics on their own.
What’s HILARIOUS is the “Wall of Shame” of adulterers, hypocrites, and elites that borders all these comments (McCain, Gingrich et al).
Guilt by association is the realm of the shameless — but these jackanapes pictured in the right gutter actually committed these “unholy” acts . . .
Are you sure this isn’t a “Daily Show” mock web site?

Why does every conservative Christian feel the right to question the authenticity of the claim of Christianity of any one who is liberal? Maybe Obama’s conversion was real. Stranger things have happened…ask Saul about the Road to Damascus!
I don’t normally care to see any politician wearing his religious beliefs on his sleeve, but it seems that with all of the controversy over Obama being a Muslim, he has almost been forced to take excessive measures to prove his Christianity.
Obama actually has a long record of speaking out on religion & it’s impact on his life & his political work. He devoted a large section in his book AUDACITY OF HOPE to the separation of church & state. One of his comments stated that while it was important to keep religious beliefs out of state business, those who watched the line needed to realize that mentioning God in public was not wrong. This is not new ground for him.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Wouldn’t it be lovely if all you Devout worried as much about the “Born” as you do the
“Unborn” or the “Born Again”? Maybe if you really did follow Jesus’ teachings and cared
for and loved your fellow humans..had compassion and understanding, nstead of hatred and
judgementalism, there wouldn’t be any need for a woman to even have to contemplate getting
an abortion. But, it’s easier for you lot to sit on your high and mightiness and look with
disdain at others than extend a hand in real love. Maybe if the good Christians adopted all
the unwanted children, there would be no need for orphanages..and certainly not abortions.
But, instead..you go forth and populate..like one white “Christian” woman who proudly has
18 children that she homeschools and one on the way..then criticizes others who don’t have
her resources. You people are so hypocritical. You claim your “salvation” like a membership
to a countryclub, wearing it on your lapels and snobbishly lording it over others. You are
fakirs..armchair Christians who claim your prime mission is to “bring others to Christ”, but
spend all your time knocking on doors, bothering people, forcing scripture down everyone’s
throat, and demanding that your way be observed by all others.
You demean and criticize and show contempt for the rest of God’s creation..the earth and all
the creatures that reside there, human and otherwise. At 16, I responded to a Billy Graham
call to be saved. I went from church to church, seeking what had been promised..that community
of love and good works. All I found was pettiness and selfishness and the willingness to condemn
..Hatred. I finally left the church forever..swearing that I would never set foot in another
church, save for weddings and funerals of others I cared about. Forty-five years later, I have
held to that oath. The Church..no matter what name it goes by, is man’s creation.
My church is at the side of the ocean, or in the forest..or in the laughter of a child..or
wherever kindness manifests itself. When someone comes to my door, asking about my salvation
..I ask them..why are you here, bothering me..when an able bodied person like yourself could
be painting some old lady’s house, or at least volunteering to get her groceries, or some such?
No..you’re too busy spouting hate and buying into bigotry and demeaning others. You spout
scripture..and forsake the content for the form! You grab onto false bits, like Obama is a Muslim,
and take it to heart…such bits are your Viagra, to keep your hate and bigotry up and running!
Think about the definition of the Anti-Christ. It is here, among us..and you, my friends..you are IT!

Well, well, well. Attacking a man on his faith are we? Obviously you Right wing nuts are scared of someone who doesn’t look like you. That man is going to be our next president, and you are all going to have to face up to the fact that this is going to be a great country for EVERYONE! Not just rich white men. Be nice and I’m sure you will have a great decade too. You’d all better learn to empathize with the way black people have been treated in this world by rich white men for the last two millenniums. Your racist attacks will not work anymore. There are many white preachers endorsing McCain who have had worse paranoid delusions than Rev. Wright. They also prey on the weak and the sick to make themselves rich. Rev. Wright may have said some things you don’t agree with, but his mission in life has been to help the sick and the needy….not just HIMSELF!

To the “single issue” voters out there (ABORTION)
We will all have things to answer for when we die.
What if you blindly vote for a candidate that says they are Pro-Life, and they make the decision to install policies that kill many more than the abortion rate? It would be interesting to tally the human cost involved in the Bush years.
The Corporations that run the RNC don’t care if you have an abortion, as long as they get your VOTE.
Then they go on with their real agenda.
Transferring wealth from all of us to the top 1-2% individuals at the top.
Is it “Pro-Life” to increase the number of people living in poverty ( the US ) by over 6 MILLION – in the last 8 years?
With more of the already poor living below 1/2 the poverty level?
I wonder, how many of these die from lack of proper health care?
Is it “Pro-Life” to sign a Bill to allow Torture?
Pro-Life? Who’s life? You close your eyes to it.
What is “Pro-Life” about gutting the Clean Air Act?
Which allows more CHILDREN to sicken and/or die needlessly, just so that GB buddies can skim a little more profit from their coal plants.
What is “Pro-Life” about War Profiteering? Policies that reward contractors with outrageous sums of cash, all the while en dangering our troops with shoddy equipment.
If you want more of the same, misguided policies that kill more people than abortion, then vote for McCain.
But that’s OK, I’m sure he’s “Pro-Life”….

Who will be the one to cast the first stone? I swear that most Christians are so hard hearted, so hypocritical. I think the majority of Christians today would reject Christ if He was here in person. It makes me sick! How can you so called “Christians” have such hate for your fellow man? You are so easily led astray by liars. You hate people with skin color different than yours. You hate those who believe differently than you. You should be ashamed. Search your soul, I think it’s empty.

Boy oh boy — racism is still alive and well in America. Some of you folks can hide behind your own self-righteousness if you want to – but deep down inside you know the truth and it is eating you alive. I wouldn’t want to be white for anything in the world!!! How must it feel to either 1. have ancestors that committed such atrocities 2. be the willing recipient of all of the benefits of white people committing such atrocities? or 3. do nothing to resist the pervasive racism that exists in America for fear that some of your privileges will be taken away or 4. do nothing to resist racism because deep down inside you know that you don’t feel good about yourself and your only point of pride is your skin color.
I will pray for you because it must be a terrible burden to walk around day to day making your way on the backs of others…

70. Check ‘bronx’ instead of burnt copper. I think Obama has all right to do what he is doing. He sat by for over a year and listen to all these dum people accusing him of being muslim for their own political benefit. All he is doing now is telling the truth- He is Christian. I am a white social conservative and Obama is a liberal, he may not have my vote on all issues but he has my vote in November. I am sick of the repubs behaving like they have the right to all things religious.

For everyone so caught up in the flag pin stuff, two things-
1) the definition of a true American, an American who gets it, is this: A true American doesn’t tell other Americans what to do!
Especially how to do their patriotism. If you don’t know this first rule then pick a dictatorship (where they tell folks how to live) and go live there! Cause you would be a whole lot more comfortable there… and we don’t need your kind in this country.
2)since we are Americans, and majority rules, count the number of flag pins on the people pictured in this website… it’s a landslide of NO

Especially how to do or show their patriotism. If you don’t know this first rule then pick a country with a dictatorship (where they tell folks how to live) and go live there! Cause you would be a whole lot more comfortable there… and we don’t need your kind in this country.
2)Since we are Americans, and majority rules, count the number of flag pins on the people pictured in this website… it’s a landslide of NO FLAG PINS! McCain, no. Brownback, no.
Hunter, no. Hagel, no. Gingrich, no. Keyes, no. Romney, no. Huckabee, no. Allen, no. Rice, no.
The no’s have it!! The super-patriot Republicans don’t wear flag pins!!
But who gives a rip? If YOU do then refer to number 1 above and please leave America to the free who “get it” and who get to make their own choices. Tell your unhappy wife, your kids, your dumb dog what to do but don’t lay that crap on a true American… cause it goes against our American grain!!!
Now, is that clear children?

Laura, you and others want so BADLY for your idol Obama to win, that you resort to name calling of Christians who thinks it’s WRONG to knowingly and WILLFULLY commit MURDER of innocent, GOD-MADE, live and growing, unborn babies. One of God’s Commandments is “Thou Shalt Not Kill”. Yet, how can ANY ‘Christian’ be a true Christian if he/she approves and/or supports abortion?
TRUE Christians (unfortunately, there are plenty of ‘fake’, liberal ‘Christians’) will NOT vote for anyone who supports anything that goes against God’s laws – abortion, gay marriage…

One positive thing that the Obama candidacy has brought about is it has shone a light on our deep-seated feelings about race and class. I see a lot of resentment expressed on this message board, both by Obama supporters and Obama haters.
Take the comments from 305 and 306. 305 is ranting about “hate-filled” black churches and 306 is ranting about “right wing nuts.” Neither is hearing the pain and anger of the other. And, frankly, neither seems to care about anything beyond venting their anger. Both clearly think they are superior to the other and believe they have the Truth. In fact, this applies to almost all of the above comments.
Many whites in this country clearly feel hurt by the advancement of blacks, both economically and culturally. For them, it has come at a steep price. They have, at times, lost jobs. They’ve felt blamed for problems they didn’t create. They’ve felt shut out and looked down upon. It’s no wonder that Obama has performed less well among whites in areas with larger black populations. There is greater resentment and greater suspicion in those areas of his race. My state of Mississippi is a perfect case in point.
Others are clearly frustrated by these whites who are hurting and are suspicious of race. Some are black, who are angry about centuries of oppression, and feel that whatever white pain there is pales in comparison to their pain. Some are more insulated whites, who are eager to change things and don’t understand why so many “ignorant” whites are holding us back.
I believe that this country is ready to open this racial wound and expose this deep-seated pain. It is only through doing this that we can have any real healing. Whoever wins the presidency, I hope and pray that the light that Obama’s candidacy is shining on this country’s deep racial wound will be ultimately healing.

Thank you for this enlightening post about Barack Obama. I am an ardent Republican, and prior to this election I would have never voted for a liberal. However, Obama has some very good ideas, and I don’t think McCain is what this country needs right now. After seeing this post shedding light on the FACT that Obama is a Christian it reiterates the fact that he is a good person with strong morals and ideas that match my own. I will be voting for Obama in 2008.

300+ comments, most of which demonstrate the lunacy and ugliness that results in believing in sky fairies. Did someone invent time travel and transport y’ all in from 1708?
Scary and depressing in equal measure.

Do you think a lot of people in WV refused to vote for Barack because he is black?

I guess you all must be regular church members, uh? Because I go quite often and listen to my pastor’s rants on controverisal issues, then I open my Bible and find that it too is controversial; so I have a choice to make, the choice is to not attend any church at all, black or white, or to attend church and seek God’s wisdom not man’s. My guess is that all Catholics should stop going to churh too, since it was their leaders that molested young boys. You don’t really think that after sitting in that church for 20 years, all of it’s members should leave do you? Thought not!
There is no excuse for people that attend church to hold the pastor against Obama, because they should know the Bible itself is controversial, to those that do not attend church services. To those that do not attend church maybe you should pick up the Bible and learn about it’s content. Especially, the one sripture that state “whatsoever a man soweth, so shall he reap,” then put it into context: John McCain recently said the “we will never have to fight in the middle east again with his new plans for energy.: which said straight up that we were fighting in Iraq for oil, not Weapons of Mass Destruction, not for our safety, because there was no emminent threat to America from Iraq, it was Afganistan. Now in light of that, Wright said the America is a terriost, and according to McCain, he is right on target, whether we choose to believe or ignore, the truth is the truth! Bush has lied so much until he doesn’t know what the truth is.
Let’s take Wright saying that Hillary has never been called a n*gger, well she hasn’t but many blacks have and still are, the worst thing about this is that young blacks use the term as endearment (i tell my daughter I will slap her if I ever heard the term used toward anyone). However, Wright was telling the truth. Then lets look at the AIDS issue, I believe he is wrong on this issue, but I also see why he or other black people may feel this way about our government considering what they did to black men with syhpillis, so a conspiracy theory may well be what goes on in the minds of many.
With all that said, whether you are black or white, before you discount everything Wright said as disgusting, think about the president we have now and the things he has done, he has become somewhat of a dictator standing behind God as his leader, doing things terriost do in other countries, then ask yourself is Wright so far off that you cannot believe it, or are you so prejudice you would never look beyond the black dramatics in the pulpit to see the real truth.
That’s all I have to say.
If the priest after molesting boys did not make all the members feel their religion or their place of worship, why does Obama or anyone else have to flee their church because of those words, the priest inflicked physical trauma to their victims. Those words of Wright only hurt feelings. Wright served in the Military and fought to secure your lives here in America, he does not hate America, he was simply exposing America just like John McCain did without realizing what he did.

For numbers 24 & 34
I am a Democrat with an IQ of 146! What idiot could refer to “DEMS” being stupid after 7 yrs of an idiot for a President that you all chose!
Its Republicans who who create BIG GOV. and huge debts. The 3 largest debts in our history were
1. R. Reagan
2. Bush SR
3. AND last but not least..baby boy Bush JR!
As for Obama I do not like him. But I do not believe he is Muslim or unpatriotic, why I do not LIKE him is he lies, cheats, and will be an ineffectual President. In other words he should be a
REPUBLICAN!

Oh and bye the way, Muslims who are true to their religion would rather die than to step foot in a church. You people really need to educate yourselves on Muslims before you insult their religion.
Muslims are ready to strap a bomb to themselves for the love of Allah, you will never and I mean never see a true Muslim on his or her knees praying to Jesus, or giving Jesus any recognition beyond just a phophet, he will never be seen as Allah.
Obama would be dead if he were a Muslim practing the Christian faith in a Christian church. If you don’t want to vote for him, then don’t but please don’t try to tell the lies that he is a Muslim, it won’t work with intelligent people. I don’t mean educated people, I mean intelligent people.
You may miss the best president since JFK while you ponder the lies that the media and others wants you to focus on so that you will vote your emotions as usual, rather than voting on the things that make us live better, like the economy. I hope not, but the more I look at things, the more I think America needs to suffer more to understand that we have been duped once again, by allowing FEAR to inject itself into our minds, like Bush has done successfully for some time now and is now attempting to SCARE us up again to get McCain elected by using Iran to instill FEAR, if we fall for this again, shame on us!
May 15th, 2008 at 11:40 am
no matter if you like him or not, he would be better for the country than McCain.

We live in a country where a person can not get elected president if they openly doubt the existence of heaven and hell. This is remarkable, given that there is no other body of ‘knowledge’ that we require our political leaders to master. Even a hairstylist must pass a licensing exam before plying their trade in the U.S., and yet those given the power to make war and national policy, those whose decisions will affect life for generations, are not expected to know anything in particular before setting to work.
They do not have to be political scientists, economists, or even lawyers; they need not have studied international relations, military history, resource management, civil engineering, or any other field of knowledge that one might need in the governance of a modern superpower. They need only be expert fund-raisers, carry themselves well on television, and believe certain myths.
In a U.S. election, an actor who reads his bible would certainly defeat a rocket scientist or a successful civil engineer who does not.
I do not respect any christians. I have no respect for people who model their life by a book that condones slavery, says women are property, and says to destroy other who don’t believe the same as them. I consider them my corrivals. I know its drastic, but I’m tired of this christian nonsense. It has held the world back hundreds of years, it’s responsible for the dark ages and the witch hunts, it has destroyed millions of lives directly and indirectly. It is absurd and insane and dangerous to follow and lead your life by, so blindly and without any rational evidence, a book, that was pieced together over 5,000 years ago, so obviously designed to control and scare primitive people. America, and the rest of the world, need to drop this ancient way of thinking.

ALL OBAMA SUPPORTERS have been easily manipulated by this man. He is the racist. HE has trashed Hillary Clinton SINCE day one. I remember well and asked myself why he was trashing her so bad and she was not saying anything in anyway mean about him.. YOU all have been so FOOLED! THEN everything about him surfaces including his terrorist friends. DID YOU ALL FORGET ABOUT 9/11? I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING CALLED RACIST BECAUSE I DO NOT SUPPORT A MAN WHO ONLY THINKS OF PEOPLE AS A NUMBER!! AND WHO HAS HIS BACKGROUND!!! YOU ALL WANT A PITTY PARTY BECAUSE YOU ALL CAN NOT SEEM TO LET GO OF THE PAST BUT YOU ALL EITHER FORGOT OR FLUNKED HISTORY. WOMAN WERE SLAVES AS WELL!!!! YOU ALL PICK THE FIRST PERSON OF A DIFFERENT COLOR INSTEAD OF BEING VERY CAREFUL WITH WHO YOU PICK!! I COULD CARELESS ABOUT THE COLOR OF A PERSON’S SKIN BUT I DO CARE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY AND MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS FUTURE!!! You don’t just pick a person because you can. It would be different if it were Colin Powell or another African American BUT this man has to many strikes against him with dealings from terrorist. THE JOKE IS ON HIM. THE GOP’s want him to go up against MCCAIN because they know he is a whimp and is unexperienced. They are also thinking about his background and you all sold him out AND voted for MCCAIN. YOU all listen to the Media to much. They can sure twist your heads all up. SO when MCCAIN wins its nobodies fault but your own. IF you all think this party will come together you are sadenly mistaken. OBAMA makes the rules to benefit him. BECAUSE HE IS A LOSER HE IS TRYING TO KEEP FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN’s votes from being counted. HE doesn’t care about the OBAMA supporters or anyone else in the remaining states because he seems to think he doesn’t need them because he has already been nominated. THINK about it for a bit. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!

What is Hillary’s excuse for her radical ties? If you are older than 40 you probably know people that were once radical yourself. What does that mean? Does it mean you share their views on life?
******************************
Did Hillary Clinton believe that it had been appropriate in 2001 for President Bill Clinton to have pardoned two members of the Weather Underground as he left office? The two recipients of Clinton’s munificence were Linda Evans, who was sentenced to five years in prison for her participation in a string of 1980s bombings, and Susan Rosenberg, who was charged with participating in a bank robbery that left one guard and two police officers dead. And, I continued, has Senator Clinton ever criticized this decision? Has she ever said anything publicly about it? Rosenberg, I noted, had been apprehended with 740 pounds of explosives in her possession.
————–
As Mrs. Clinton left the Treuhaft firm in 1971, one of its partners was gearing up for the defense of a Communist and black revolutionary, Angela Davis, against murder, kidnapping and conspiracy charges stemming from a 1970 shootout that left a California judge dead. Ms. Walker became the resident Communist on Ms. Davis’s legal team. “I was asked by the Party to participate in Angela’s case,” the lawyer said. She said no one else at the law firm, including Mrs. Clinton, worked on Ms. Davis’s case. At the trial, held in 1972 at San Jose, the Treuhaft firm’s winning record held up again. A jury acquitted the polarizing African-American activist of all charges.
A FIRM WITH HISTORY
By the time Mrs. Clinton arrived at the Treuhaft firm in 1971, its reputation as a defender of left-wingers and radicals was well established. Indeed, those at the firm assumed that reputation drew the Yale law student in. “She did want to work for a left-wing movement law firm. Anyone who went to college or law school would have known our law firm was a Communist law firm,” Treuhaft told Ms. Sheehy in 1999. “This was an old-left, radical law firm,” a staff attorney there during Mrs. Clinton’s summer, David Nawi, told the Sun. “Treuhaft was suing the police and doing wonderful work with the black community in East Oakland before anybody else.” A Yale Law student who worked as a clerk at the firm the summer before Mrs. Clinton arrived, Mary Nichols, said Treuhaft was open about his stint in the Communist Party. “Treuhaft, he himself was proud of having been a Communist at one time. This was not something that they hid in any way. They were not people stockpiling dynamite. They were a respectable law firm, but still you knew they had experimented in that kind of way,” she said. Another Yale Law student who ended up at the Oakland firm, Ms. Ramey, insists she did not know of the partners’ Communist ties before showing up to work there. “It sounded like kind of a cool place to work. I had no clue. I was pleasantly surprised,” she told the Sun. Mr. Siegel, the Berkeley protester-turned-lawyer, said committed student leftists in 1971 would have viewed the firm’s Communist connections as quaint, perhaps even conservative. “We almost universally thought Communist Party people were sellouts,” he said. “People of my generation who were getting involved were Marxists, Maoists, even Trotskyists. The Communist Party was pretty unpopular, unless your parents were in it.”
—————-
But we did. Here’s an excerpt from the TiM Bulletin 96-04, Apr. 13, 1996, whose title was “Ayatollah Klintomeini.” The piece was actually about how the Clinton administration’s pro-Islamic foreign policy is aimed at destroying both Russia and Europe. But it also contained the following interesting episode about Hillary:
“I have to admit that a good deal of what my husband and I have learned (about Islam) has come from my daughter,” said Hillary Clinton, addressing the members of the American Muslim Council (AMC) at the first-ever White House celebration of Eid al-Fitr (a Muslim religious holiday) on February 20, 1996. “(As) some of you who are our friends know, she (Chelsea) took a course last year in Islamic history.”
Chelsea has been educating her parents about Islam ever since, the First Lady explained. As she accepted the two AMC gifts of Qur’an, the Muslim holy book, Mrs. Clinton said: “I am honored to have these gifts… one for my husband, and one for me, as Chelsea already has her copy.”
Meanwhile, Steven Emerson, producer of the PBS documentary, “Jihad in America,” said in his Wall Street Journal OpEd column, published on March 13, 1996, that “AMC is a radical group that supports radical Islamic terrorist movements.”
In other words, while Islamic terrorists blow up the World Trade Center, for example, not to mention their hijacking, killing and maiming of Americans overseas, the Clinton family revels in celebrating Islam at the White House.”
The Mobster’s Marxist
The former Goldwater girl would write her 1969 thesis for Wellesley College on the ideas of native Chicago radical Saul Alinsky. Entitled “There is only the Fight, An Analysis of the Alinsky model,†its 92 pages explored the intellectual world of the Marxist organizer. The young Ms. Rodham likened Alinsky – favorably – to Socialist Party presidential candidate Eugene Debs, Walt Whitman, and Martin Luther King Jr., stating “each embraced the most radical of political faiths – democracy.†Hillary had one difference with Alinsky: she did not believe street demonstrations were effective avenues to promote their shared, far-Left values. Instead, she affirmed her commitment to working “inside the system,†because she believed all change came about only by acquiring political power. Three years after her thesis, Alinsky revealed the source of some of his methods, “I learned a hell of a lot about the uses and abuses of power from the mob, lessons that stood me in good stead later on, when I was organizing…Everybody owned stock in the Capone mob; in a way, he was a public benefactor.†Alinsky certainly benefited: he consorted with Al Capone and Frank Nitti, among other mafiosi. Alinsky knew a ruthless leader when he saw one, offering Hillary a job at his Industrial Areas Foundation Training Institute.
Peeping for the Panthers
She declined in favor of attending Yale Law School. There, she studied under the infamous Thomas (“Tommy the Commieâ€) Emerson. Emerson introduced her to Charles Garry, an attorney for the Black Panther Party. When Panthers were put on trial in New Haven, Connecticut, for the torture and murder of Alex Rackley, Hillary monitored the trial – on behalf of the Panthers. (Although this is the subject of an urban legend, the monitoring did, in fact, occur.) Her aim, and that of the students she organized, was to look for “civil rights violations†that could be used as technicalities to dismiss the charges against the Panthers.
“Our Law Firm was a Communist Law Firm.â€
Unsuccessful in these efforts, in 1972 Hillary Rodham took her unmarried companion, Bill Clinton, to Berkeley, where she worked as an intern at her hand-picked law firm: Treuhaft, Walker, and Bernstein. The practice, founded by current or former members of the Communist Party USA, had long acted as a legal asset for CPUSA, the Black Panthers, and other Bay-area radicals. Founding partner Bob Treuhaft had been labeled one of the nation’s most “dangerously subversive†lawyers.
Had the future presidential candidate somehow inadvertently joined a Marxist law firm 3,000 miles away from her home college? Treuhaft disclosed, “She did want to work for a left-wing movement law firm. Anyone who went to college or law school would have known our law firm was a Communist law firm.†In fact, Treuhaft and his wife, Jessica Mitford, left the Party, not because of ideological variance with the Communists, but because “It was ineffective.†In 1992, the co-president-elect wrote, “I am an admirer of Jessica Mitford.†While Rodham was doing her internship, Treuhaft feverishly worked at getting charges dismissed in Huey P. Newton’s 1967 murder of a police officer. (Hillary’s apologists often claim she monitored the Rackley trial to protest “mistreatment†of Bobby Seale; ironically, Huey Newton abused Seale far worse than any legal system.)
Not all partners in the firm had cut ties with the Communist Party. Doris Brin Walker remained a member of the CPUSA 30 years after Rodham’s intership had ended. Having just finished a stint as president of the National Lawyers Guild when Hillary reported for duty, Walker longed for a “Second American Revolution.†As Hillary left the firm, Walker successfully defended Angela Davis against multiple felonies resulting from a shootout that left a California judge dead. Walker said she undertook the case at the instruction of the CPUSA. She once mused, “For Hillary to pick the most left-wing firm really at that time in the Bay Area, it’s still a surprise to me that more hasn’t been made of that.â€
Hillary did yeoman’s work while learning at the feet of the masters. Associates say Hillary helped draftees get themselves declared conscientious objectors, so they would not serve in Vietnam. They insist Hillary served VA interns seeking to avoid taking a loyalty oath to the United States. Some hint she worked on Black Panther cases, or attended their trials. And she undoubtedly assisted Berkeley student body president Daniel Siegel obtain admission to the bar, which he was denied after he thundered: “The question is not violence versus non-violence; the question is when violence, and how violence, and what violence.†He graciously specified targets: “I can see very little objection theoretically, politically, or morally, or anything else, with burning down the Bank of America and all its 500 branches.†Mr. Siegel now shares his legal wisdom at the bench, thanks to Miss Rodham.
A Check in Every Pot, a Government Babysitter in Every Garage
Hillary’s own views continued to reflect a radical orientation toward economics and the traditional family. She worked on Kenneth Kingston’s tome All Our Children: The American Family Under Pressure, which >advocated a guaranteed minimum annual income. In a November 1973 article for the Harvard Educational Review, Hillary proposed liberating children from “the empire of the Father.†In that article, she asserted, “Along with the family, past and present examples of such [unjust] arrangements include marriage, slavery, and the Indian Reservation system.†As if to stick it to her opponents, who publicized this quotation during the 1992 election, Hillary authored her first book shortly after taking office: It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.
At the same time, she would meet the woman who would focus her quest for state socialism: >Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the >Children’s Defense Fund. In 1996, Edelman exhorted Jim Wallis’ leftist religious group Call to Renewal: “Let’s guarantee a job. Let’s guarantee health care and children [sic.] care. Let’s turn this welfare repeal into real welfare reform.†She endorsed full employment, socialized medicine, federally funded babysitters for all, and infinite welfare benefits for those not inclined to forsake indolence. But what will give way in the budget? Defense, of course. Edelman >wrote in her1987 book Families in Peril, “We must curb the fanatical military weasel and keep it in balance with competing national needs.â€
Government Lawyers for Leftists
To sure up the support of her now-husband, Jimmy Carter named Hillary Clinton to the board of the Legal Services Corporation from 1978-1980. The LSC, purportedly a program to help the poor, has dedicated the time of its taxpayer-subsidized lawyers to serving grassroots leftist organizations, easing restrictions against criminal illegal aliens, and expanding government welfare rolls. Hillary soon became chair of Legal Services, reportedly in a coup against Carter’s preferred candidate. Funding tripled during her reign, reaching its highest ever budget in inflation-adjusted dollars. At that time, LSC opposed California’s Proposition 13, which cut property taxes by more than half, although organizing a political campaign “broke its own rules,†>according to Michael Barone. Likewise, the LSC tried to force the New York Transit Authority to hire heroin addicts. In 1978, it filed an amicus brief in the Bakke case, supporting racial quotas in public universities. During her co-presidency in the 1990s, LSC’s budget soared to $400 million; and its >case load at the time >included such >causes as:
• keeping drug-dealers from being evicted from public housing;
• getting drug addicts disability benefits;
• defending illegal aliens convicted of felonies from deportation;
• suing to get welfare benefits for a criminal illegal alien who had once been deported;
• demanding bilingual education;
• opposing Proposition 187, the California voter initiative that would have banned non-emergency aid for illegal aliens; and
• supporting homosexual adoption.
Clearly, she was within her element.

Dirty Tricks?
Some automated calls to North Carolina voters implying that they are not yet legally registered to vote, have been traced to a women’s advocacy group run by people with links to the Clintons.
Wired magazine reports the group Women’s Voices, Women Vote has acknowledged making the calls and promised to stop. A Raleigh newspaper reports the calls were made primarily to black households.
Many of the group’s officials worked in Bill Clinton’s administration or have made donations to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. The North Carolina attorney general’s office says the calls are illegal because the group did not identify itself and the state is investigating.
The Clinton campaign acknowledges it has supporters on the group’s board and staff and says group officials have admitted their mistake and apologized.

Do your research and you will find that the discussion on the day that Senator Obama made those statements was in regards to the issue of whether or not to include discussion of birth control in sex education. Abortion was not even being discussed. This is a perfect example of the right wing spin machine.
The point Senator Obama was making was that in adition to teaching his daughters morals (the importance of abstinence, the sacredness of intimacy) he would also teach them about birth control. If they did make a mistake in choosing to engage in sexual activity when they are young then they would know how to prevent a pregnancy.
Your comment that the “choice was made during conception” is exactly the point. Make the choice to prevent the pregnancy if you don’t make the choice to abstain.

As a christian, I sometimes feel that Christians are the most hateful people in America, and I am downright shameful. So from now on, I will tell people that I am a follower of Christ, I will not use the term Christian to identify with those who hold such racism, hatred, and beleive that everyone else is beneath them.
Christ came to redeem the “world” that through him we might be saved. These people do not care about that, they think they are the saviors of the world, thank God they are not or I would be in trouble as a black follower of Christ.
But they will be judged by the measure they judge other trust me.

You are right pfunk: I was listening to the whole story that day myself. People tend to take whatever the pundits say and run with it. I wonder how they would feel standing before a court that sentences them to life on the words of the pundits. Just wondering.
However, if you think it is not PUNISHMENT to the family of teenagers who get pregnant, then you are surely not living in reality. Let your teenage daughter get pregnant (because of lack of knowledge) and the boyfriend disowns the baby or can’t afford to care for the baby and you are already struggling as a family, then come back and tell us how much punishment this is to the family that had no choice in the matter of the teen getting pregnant in the first place. You all continue to play havoc with words, but the truth of the matter is the teenager will be punished in many ways, which does not mean that the baby is not loved or cherished. It means the the teen will not be able to, in most cases, complete their educational goals, which means a much lower paying job to care for the child, etc.
Just tell the truth, it is not about the word, it is the man that you FEAR most, because he is new to you and black.
Well he sure has my vote, I FEAR Bush and McCain more than I do his color.

In 318 Sharon said, in part: “I am a Democrat with an IQ of 146! What idiot could refer to “DEMS†being stupid after 7 yrs of an idiot for a President that you all chose!”
You don’t suppose it is because you show you care less about the Constitution by voting for a Marxist. So do you believe more in the Communist Manifesto? Both Hillary and Obama are Marxist, that documented.
Another reason is who in their right mind, while people are complaining about low paying jobs will turn around and vote to have more money taken out of their pocket? Both Hillary and Obama have promised to cut out the Bush tax cuts (those making $30,000 a year will pay $1,000 more), they plan to tax the Rich (who do you think provide the jobs, and who do you think will have to compensate with either higher prices for products or lay off people to pay the taxes), and also to tax Big Oil. Yep and they will pass that along to the pump and we’ll get $5 or $6/gallon gas. Oh and don’t forget the Healthcare which Hillary admitted it would cost $130 Billion. Who do you think will pay for that “Free” Healthcare?
What people in their right mind would vote for the above, all actually stated by both candidates? Do you really love giving up more money out of your pocket? If so, don’t complain about loss of jobs or low wages.
Yep that IQ sure is working for you Sharon. Maybe you should check the logic and common sense meter.

I find it funny that people are harping on Jeremiah Wright’s three quotes played ad nauseam, and the fact that Obama attended church with this pastor for 20 years. Don’t you get it? They have videos of most of Wright’s sermons available and those are the only 3 quotes they could find. You better believe we would be hearing a lot of other quotes if they were available. So is it possible that Obama wasn’t in church during these 3 occasions? Of course it is. I also am impressed that the biggest “scandal” they have on Obama is a few crazy things that were said, not by Obama, but his pastor.
Should we reject someone who has some eccentric viewpoints, or should we look at the entire person? I’m sure we all know people who
believe a few crazy conspiracy theories, but does that mean we should never talk to them again?

May 16th, 2008 at 6:19 am
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and evey spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (I John Ch.4 vs.1-6) So if Obama confesses that Jesus is the very representation of God in the flesh and the only One through which any man can be saved from his sins, and that there is no other way to salvation and if he preaches this gospel that we all know through the Scriptures then you might be convinced but I’m not willing to put my faith in a mere princely man. There is only One Prince that I have faith in and Who is the Prince of Peace, Christ the Messiah who was, and is and is to come. Amen.

My only concern with his faith; is his radical support of the death of the unborn. How can he reconcile that stance with the God who creates all life and his faith? Which God and which Jesus is he worshipping?

If you ever want to see the “real” person, put them through a Presidential campagain and see what happens. Barack may be a Christian, and for his sake, I pray that He truly is. But it’s much to conveinient that he is clinging to his faith now!!!!! Seems to be that he’s more of an opportunist than anything. I certainly don’t want this man leading our nation.

Obama is hiding who he really is ….which is the same Hate Spewing bigot as his pastor, for 20 years. Arn’t we judged by the company we keep? Obama is way out of his league, and an insult to most of the country.

Damned if he does Damned if he doesn’t. I am not among the bigoted, uneducated lot that think its their patritic duty to blindly hate, fear and distrust muslims, with that said, Obama a practicing and devout Christian has been falsely linked as a Muslim by Republican-lite smear emails and innuendos….how else is a man to combat that? I believe he is doing it the only way that he can..stressing HIS faith.
Obama, god-speed sir

My only concern is that all these people spouting such things about Obama are the same ones that still try and defend the tragic mishandling of the nation by GWB. I’ve no great love for Obama, but I am a hater of what has been happening in this country and a hater of the Clintons. The GOP has NO chance of winning another POTUS for a while because of GWB, so it might as well be someone promising change instead of another one trying to keep status quo.

It seems strange that Obama would take this position to the religious people of Kentucky or anywhere. He is saying he is now doing “God’s work”, his message is “hope” and “faith”. If a person is truly religious they know their bible and this message is about as clear as it can be right from the Book of Revelations—a man of “Muslim” decent with a huge following will lead the people down the path of destruction. Mr. Obama is placing himself in a very awkward position making folks wonder if he might be the anti-christ—because he fits the bill so perfectly. Perhaps religion should be left out of politics…just tell us what you plan to do.

Founder of Islam was born in570 C.E.
Revelation was written by John in AD 95
There is no hope for folks that believe as you report because they have their mind made up and don’t recognize facts. Obama is not appealing to them.
Obama has it right, “religious” is not what you say, but is manifesting the will of God in your behavior to his children.

Why treat this as a forum to rant and display your ignorance & bigotry?

Do you people know how to read or even listen for that matter, or see with your eyes. If you used them correctly you would see that Obama’s former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright who said “God Damn America” you might know that if you opened your bigoted minds to the culture of black churches and experience the passion that leads to these firey sermons.
Sorry i don’t really hate, but your just making a stronger argument for my dislike of KY and WV since i was born in Ohio, you haters probably fall in that 25% of Americans who still support our failure of a president called Bush.
May 18th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Yea, that church where Obama found Jesus was pastored by Mr. ‘I hate everyone’ Wright.
Obama is no better that Bush II………..a President on training wheels. This country cannot afford another four years of inexperience and four wheel riding leaders.
So, on election day I’m writing in the name ‘Hillary Clinton’ for President.
Spread the word and write in Hillary on election day.

Wow, more bogus panderingS from that racist fraud Obama. Great.
People have believed so many of his hyperbolic pleas, so why not
sudden;y think he is “clinging to religion” and perhaps is “a typical white person” deep down,
deep in the heart?
HAROLD FORD JR is awesome and I honestly think his religious jismos are in earnest.

I see Obama’s 400 paid bloggers have this site staked out too. If Obama is such a lofty believer as he is now claiming, why didn’t he come out and denounce the murdering campaign of his cousin Odingo in Kenya? over 1600 murdered and not a word from Barack to ask his close friend and cousin stop. So much for Christian values!

Or is tahat they want to use Him (GOD) to get there…….

As an American I am sadden to see how much racism still goes on in our nation. Anyone that truly believes in god, will vote for issues not because of race. It is incredible that some parts of our country are still in the dark ages.
Move on Kentucky, God is not black or white, and Mr. Obama is a nice intelligent guy who comes from a white mother, which means he is half white.
We need a real change and the “100% white lady” is the same old politics, we need a new kind of politics and noone is better prepared than the man that is the son of a white woman and an african man.
God bless him and may the lord help Mr. Obama and change the minds of the racists that at the end are the real sinners.

Obama is absolutely dangerous and if he is elected President, we are all in a lot of trouble. Half of the Democrats in our beloved America have been bewitched by a man with ZERO experience – a man who’s words are smooth and utterly deceptive. He associates with men and women who have proven themselves to be anti-American in every way – bombers, hate-mongers, and racists – these are his friends!??? I pray everyday that the good people of this nation who have not been bewitched – we who see the Truth – will rise up and vote against Obama. “Please God .. we NEED You!”

Amazing! This is a frightening look at what Christianity has become in America. This blog is full of religious experts–quoting a book (Bible) assembled and selected from many manuscripts many years after the death of Christ by men in power–who wanted to control those living in poverty and keep them from stealing, and killing each other (and give them hope)– . So many bigoted, mean spirited interpretations do exist in this blog. I hope those of you who have embraced the carefully selected snippets whose purpose is to harm Obama in this campaign and have turned them into malicious gossip feel better about yourselves. My experience is that people that feel good about themselves do not need to verbally abuse others. I’m wondering how many of you had to fight through racial slurs, yet managed to win scholarships to Columbia University and Harvard Law School. I am a white woman (two years older than Obama’s mother would have been) from Kansas, a Republican, who will register soon as a Democrat and vote for Obama if I have the chance.
Did anyone mention that Bill Clinton actually added 1.4 trillion dollars to the national debt…and GW has added 4.5 trillion and counting with his ill conceived war in Iraq? The weekly billion spent on the occupation of Iraq will go a long way to fixing our health care, educational system, environmental disaster, etc!

Wow, this is just what I thought all along. At first I thought that America has finally gotten over race, but as the contest progressed I realized that the so called “white working class” started changing my mind. America is still very racially divided. There is no such thing as the white working class. I am white and I work and I am a white working man. I think the truth is that the media made up that name in lieu of the “white racist class”. They just wanted to be politically correct. The reason these states are still not any better off than they were decades ago is that they are still harboring and teaching the hate that spurns racism. What is so different in a state like Oregon is that there has been change over the years and the majority of people are more indifferent to race…..not colorblind. The word colorblind is used by white racists who do not want to admit it. We are a different color but we should be indifferent to it.
It really is sad, I was kind of hoping that racism had dimished over the years, but I was sadly mistaken. It still is “One Nation under God divided by the color of our skin”.

The party of family values has a wall of shame a mile long.
Larry Craig (trolling for sex in public bathroom)
David Vitter (Using tax payer dollars to buy hookers)
Vito Fosella (Polygamy)
Mark Foley (accosting 14 year old boys entrusted to the care of the US Congress)
So much for family values.

Re: “if GWB had made such an overt appeal to religion†– so how exactly do y’all view GWB’s faith based initiatives? Nice secular domestic policy or giving that doG a bone?
As for hypocrites, if y’all support the current Unitary Executive as it appears many of you do, look no further than in the mirror. If there is a God, you reap what you sow and the death and destruction left in W’s wake is something for which those who support him and his cronies will one day have to answer. Thou shalt not kill and turning the other cheek wasn’t meant just for friends.
Tell that to everyone who lost someone in 911.
Not just in the attack but everyone who was lost in trying to resuce survivers, clean up etc…
Tell that to the childrem who lost a Mother or Father or both. tell it to
the Husbandes and wives who losts their partners forever, tell it to the mothers and fathers
that lost sons and Daughters.
Then remember that that was the SECOND attack on those buildings. Clinton turned the other cheek
and see
what it cost us.
When next we are attacked by another terrorist group and it is with A nuclear device should we
again turn the other cheek?
How many more people must die before you and people like you will say “Enough”?
