Looks like we’ll have to wait two more months to see who John’s Veep pick is… at least according to what inside sources at McCain’s campaign told U.S. News and World Report:
Insiders in John McCain’s Republican presidential campaign expect him to make his choice of a vice presidential running mate during the first half of August, about two or three weeks before the start of the GOP nominating convention in Minnesota.
In all reality, this is a pretty conventional move (as far as modern politics goes) to select the Veep close to the nominating convention. The pros and cons of selecting a Veep earlier than that have been discussed and debated, but I think McCain is making the right move here. Nobody will be paying much attention to the race during the early and mid summer, and this timing allows McCain to grab a news cycle or two prior to the DNC in Denver.

CBL:
There is a lot of logic to run Mr. Huckabee against Mrs. Clinton. However, I doubt that Mr. Obama will chose that racist woman to be on his ticket.

Oh goody. More McCain “insider” information. It must be the Gospel truth, then.

I agree that the time then is approriate, but it is really painful for me to watch McCain’s public performances, or lack thereof — at least from the general public viewpoint. I am thinking that McCain will need all help he can get and SOON! I am thinking he will need someone quite vocal, who can insert himself or herself in the view of public. August may be too late only because it’s McCain with his amazing oral skills!

I said this months ago! He’ll also wait till Barry goes first and will need some time after that.
Let’s relax until July then start talking about it.

He should NOT wait for Barack to decide first. I’m personally sick of the fact that Obama has been allowed to control everyone else’s maneuvers, forcing everyone to *react* to his decisions rather than make decisions on their own. McCain would be far better served by picking first to avoid the speculation that he made such-and-such a choice *only* because Obama made such-and-such a different choice.

Playing field has changed with Obama the nominee. Rudy may be a good choice at this juncture.
