SGS - You do raise the fundamental contradiction in McCain’s attempt to co-opt Obama’s change message - McCain is a creature of Washington. I happen to live in DC and love it, but I know from personal experience that some politicians become fixtures here and McCain is one. I think its McCain’s first big mistake to play on Obama’s turf.
NO, Memnon. Obama CANNOT concede issues to Obama. He has to go after Obama’s strengths and make them his own — by saying that he has a RECORD of reform, not just words. If he can steal that from Obama, all that the Democrats are left with is an inexperienced leftist.
Actually polling shows both candidates tie, on who the public sees as the change candidate. Conservatives who opposed McCain did him a great favor by constantly hitting McCain on some of his bills. They have branded in to voters minds that McCain has been successful in passing “change” legislation, even if they oppose it.

After watching both McCain’s and Obama’s speeches on TV Tuesday night, McCain no less than NEEDS to run Alaska Gov Sarah Palin as his VP mate.

This morning I saw a poll where the majority of respondents said McCain would be a continuation of Bush.
