I have been away from this site for a few weeks. I’m not sure how to read this chart. Does the middle column mean the difference is in favor toward the side the color is? In all case, is Obama ahead of McCain from 1 point to 20 points, regardless of their VEEPs? Is higher difference better — meaning Obama/Edwards combo will wipe McCain on the floor?

McCain/Fossella anyone?

I think Obama/Edwards would be a very tough ticket to beat.

Why is Obama not over 50% in New York? I understand McCain is below 40%, but still, I am surprised.

This looks more like a name recognition test than a significant statistical analysis. McCain obviously does poorly no matter what, but to conclude that Edwards adds much to the ticket for Obama is ludicrous. Clearly most of the people surveyed didn’t know very well who Sebelius, Hagel, and Rendell even are. Edwards ran as VP last time and all he did was make Dick Cheney suddenly likeable.
