A different kind of politician?:
Rendell, who plans to campaign on Obama’s behalf and raise money for him, said tonight’s event in Philadelphia is a joint fundraiser for Obama and the cash-strapped Democratic National Committee.
But in a sign of the urgency to raise campaign cash, Rendell said Obama didn’t want to reschedule tonight’s fundraiser, even though the governor warned him that many Philadelphia donors were headed to the New Jersey shore for the weekend. Rendell said Obama told him: “We don’t need the people. We just need the checks.”

“We don’t need the people. We just need the checks.”
Funny, that is not too far from “We don’t need the people, we just need the votes.”

Now we just need McCain to flip on ANWR.
June 16th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
7. Hmmm, now which VP candidate just might be able to sweet talk McCain into changing his mind on ANWR? :>
June 16th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I don’t see McCain responding to “sweet talk.” And please don’t turn into another Ted.

HearMeRoar,
I liked what you had to say about my input on the long post I had on the Jindal Veep possibility by Newt Gingrich. It was just a few ideas that I have not heard anyone throw around. I really think that is how Romney needs to talk economics. The people in Michigan hate their governor about as much as they hate Bush. Why not simply go there and try to make the case that Michigan can play a huge role in a new revitalized energy-manufacturing super sector? As Newt Gingrich says, America has big problems that need big solutions. In this election, if McCain is going to have any chance he has to have new maverick ideas that will resonate with voters. Just wait and see. When gas prices go higher and higher and people get more and more pissed off, something has to give. The crunch can only go so far.
