Flip-Flop #65 in a Series of 891

Hubris abounding! Would you take a look at this?

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama’s campaign scrubbed his presidential Web site over the weekend to remove criticism of the U.S. troop “surge” in Iraq, the Daily News has learned.

The presumed Democratic nominee replaced his Iraq issue Web page, which had described the surge as a “problem” that had barely reduced violence.

“The surge is not working,” Obama’s old plan stated…

Obama’s campaign posted a new Iraq plan Sunday night, which cites an “improved security situation” paid for with the blood of U.S. troops since the surge began in February 2007.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting the impending Obama press release noting that he was wrong and that McCain was right about the surge.

  1. Delancey West Davis Says:

McCain recently scrubbed Troy King as regional campaign chair from his site. King, the Alabama AG, was caught by his wife in bed with a young male aide. Mrs. King threw her husband and gay lover out on the street. The gov. of Alabama has asked for King to resign.

  2. cwpete Says:

Obama has already tried to explain away this with the incredibly weak excuse that we are keeping up with “current events.”

How pathetic is that? When it was politically expedient to call Iraq a quagmire stuck in a “civil war” he certainly did. Now since our troops are succeeding there in large part due to the surge which he opposed we no longer have a “civil war.”

I’m waiting for this guy Obama to try to claim credit for all the successes we’ve had in Iraq next. 15 out of 18 benchmarks is an 83% success rate thus far. At what point will these liberals call Iraq a success?

Even if some liberals admit success they’ll be quick to point out that the sacrifice for that success was never worth it.

  3. Delancey West Davis Says:

When will McCain and Bush admit going into Iraq in the first place was a mistake? As someone said last night McCain acts as if the Iraq war began with the surge. He also acts as if others did not call for a change in tactics. Colin Powell, for instance, argued for more troops from the beginning.

I might add that McCain has also flip-flopped on Afghanistan. When Obama called for more troops McCain said no. Yesterday McCain finally agreed with Obama and it took 9 servicemen losing their lives.

  4. logcabingop Says:

Delancey, don’t you think obama is changing his mind because his Muslim brothers in Iraq asked him to do so?

  5. terry Says:

So Obama rewrote his website to remove his terrible judgment that the surge did not work. Given that Obama’s Ministry of Truth has been changing his past on nearly every other subject, I find this latest revelation less than shocking! It is just more of the same old change that works for him.

  6. Adam Says:

Now Delancy that doesn’t sound nearly as inclusive as many in your party like to pretend to be. If I wanted Democrats to win I’d be cautious about subtracting from the existing coalition. After all if we’ve learned one thing since 1992, the pendulum of public opinion can swing back and forth pretty quickly.

  7. Adam Says:

And going out on a limb, I’d guess that there are plenty of non-Republican homosexuals that might not welcome such snarky ignorance.

  8. Doug Forrester Says:

Adam, it’s a troll. I bet a sock puppet too.

  9. Adam Says:

Yeah. I know. You think by now he would have realized that his anti-homosexual comments would be a dead giveaway.

  10. Kavon W. Nikrad Says:

    Sock Puppet Alert!

Delancy West, Paulette, and Lee Ryder are all the same person and are now perma-banned from this site.

  11. DaveG Says:

Obama is assuming that Americans will accept an Obama that lied during the primaries to gain liberal support as long as he agrees with mainstream America now on the issues. I think he might be right. Just as conservatives began rallying around Mitt Romney when it became just him and McCain for the nomination last spring, even though Mitt had been a late convert to conservatism, the mass of pissed off swing voters in this country will accept an Obama who has converted to centrism rather than vote for a continuation of generic Republicanism. That’s why it’s up to McCain to make the case that he’s not a generic Republican.

  12. Ajay Says:

This site is getting silly with all its “Obama flip-flop” attacks. Not that they aren’t true. But McCain has flipped on many things too: taxes, global warming, offshore drilling, Falwell, and arguably Roe v. Wade and immigration.

  13. Faith Says:

Alex, don’t hold your breath for the Obama apology for being wrong about the surge and that McCain was right. He is a typical immature politician who is not grown up enough to admit he was wrong in his judgment.

  14. Illinoisguy Says:

We should be able to exploit all these flip flops…but we’re doing a really bad job of it.
