New Ad:
John McCain is been thoroughly busy with his media team, and it is paying off. Washing Times released a story today on the effectiveness of his marketing strategy.
Some noteable information:
TubeMogul’s Marketing Manager David Bruch says:
“I want to know who he hired. They went from recycling their TV ads to like putting out these witty shorts.”
The McCain campaign said it was simply a decision to have fun with commercials, like the “Celebrity” ad released last week that compared Mr. Obama to Miss Hilton and Britney Spears, and “The One” Web ad that mocks the adulation from Obama supporters and compares the Democrat to Moses as he parts the Red Sea.
“He made a smart move because he jumped out of the political blogosphere and chattering class, and got into the celebrity chattering class, and that’s where most of the energy is.” said David All, a Republican strategist who runs Slatecard.com, an online contributions site.
Mr. All attributed the change in attitude to the elevation of Steve Schmidt at the McCain campaign. The former Bush White House aide and campaign aide to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took over day-to-day operations at the McCain campaign a month ago and brought an aggressiveness that put the campaign beyond the usual political talk.

Whatever they did, they are finally forcing their message past the barbarians in the awe-struck media to the people. I have never in my life met for beers with other 20-somethings and had them laughing (in a good way) about the messages of a GOP candidate.

This is a good ad. Very good ad.
Watching that Hillary bit makes me wonder why on earth the democrats nominated such an egregiously under qualified candidate as they did.

Team McCain should put this on tv not just internet.

Like it. Like it alot. It is a smart move going with the sense of humor. Finally, the campaign is starting to stand out and I like it.

I like this ad a lot too. Since McCain already rubs some Republicans the wrong way and the media has gleefully reported that ad nauseum, this only makes the Democrats seem like fair weather friends and opportunists for switching and now attacking their favorite Republican senator. This is good stuff.
Of course (not to stir up a hornets’ nest or anything…) with the McCain team using the Democrats’ words against them it would seem to me that this sort of strategy would greatly decrease the likeliehood of a Romney pick for VP. After all if McCain DID pick Romney, Dems will have plenty of ammo from the McRom battles of primary season to play tit for tat. And now they would have every justification for trying to exploit that.

#6:
I’m sure there is far more ammo from Hillary Clinton that the Republicans could use against Obama than what there is from any of the Repulbican primary opponents when speaking of John McCain

Great ad! They need to run this prime time during the Olympics.
August 7th, 2008 at 11:39 am
13) Maybe that will help us with Michigan. I keep hearing that they are sick of the Dems up there. Hope so.
What stinks is the whole public financing issues. Obama will have boat loads of money for ads after the conventions. J Mac will not. One solace: the advantage in ads didn’t seem to matter in the 2nd half of the dem primary.

We may also have a shot at the Senate seat - Levin only got 41% in the primary, to Hoogendyk’s 36%.
We’ll see what happens.
August 7th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
act blog - was this the Democrat primary where Hoogendick got 36%?
August 7th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
no. Both Hoogendky (R) and Levin (D) are running unopposed for their party’s nominations. The 36% is of all votes cast -combining the results from each race.
he mentions it on his site:

Only to be fair, I would like to hear Obama counter ads, he has some pretty good responses. Lets not make this just a one sided discussion.
August 7th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Deg-
What kind of responses does he have?
I think everyone here is interested in Obama’s response to this ad.
You do realize this is a site where there is information and discussion about issues from a rightist point of view, don’t you?
August 7th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Here’s Obama’s response:
‘The American people are tired of these low level attack ads. They want hope and change and hope for change and change for hope. I am a global worldwide symbol of how brilliant I am. Don’t you think I’m terrific?’
