Breaking News: Edwards Admits Sexual Affair; Lied as Presidential Candidate

  2. MWS Says:

I think we need a thread about the breaking war in Georgia.

  3. Kristofer Says:

#2 Aron, he was helping her our of poverty, right?

  4. Jamison Says:

That’s quite interesting about Edwards. So long, buddy!

  5. Jamison Says:

    #2

Ditto. Has BHO said anything yet?

  6. Kristofer Says:

#5, Michelle is showing him where it is on the map.

  7. Jonathan Says:

    #5:

Actually RedState has both McCain’s and Obama’s statements about the conflict:

    http://www.redstate.com/diaries/redstate/2008/aug/08/mccains-statement-on-georgia/

  8. MWS Says:

Are you guys kidding? Democrat women LOVE IT when their leaders have affairs. This is Edward’s last ditch effort to secure the nomination.

Personally, I think it might put him over the top, but only if he wagged his finger at the media when he made his indignant denial.

  9. MWS Says:

How would you like to be the son of a mill worker, scrapping your pennies together to contribute to this charlatan’s campaign, only to find out he spent your hard earned money on haircuts and hussies?

  10. Adam Says:

MWS is right. Edwards wants to play the cassanova card. I wouldn’t be too upset with him though. I’m sure he only did it to make Rush Limbaugh stop incinuating that he is gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

  11. MWS Says:

    Kristofer,

“Michelle is showing him where it is on the map.”

Don’t be rediculous. Obama can find Georgia on the map. He knows all 57 states by heart!

  12. Jonathan Says:

    #11:

Actually this whole conflict has gotten the Democrats here in Florida very concerned. They are calling on the
Governor and the legislature to mobilize the National Guard and prepare for any potential conflict. Meanwhile,
we Floridians are allowing all Georgian refugees sanctuary in our State until the conflict ends.

  13. OHIO JOE Says:

When did Mr. Limbaugh accuse Mr. Edwards with regards to Sexuaul orientation?

  14. Aron Goldman Says:

Fox News Video: Giuliani: Dem. on GOP Ticket Possible

  15. Adam Says:

    OHio Joe,

He didn’t accuse. He incinuated. He calls him “the Breck Girl” and constantly mocks his preoccupation with looks.

  16. Jonathan Says:

    #13:

He calls Edwards “The Breck Girl” all the time and pretty much mocks Edwards as a girly-man.

  17. MWS Says:

So when the fit hits the shan in the Caucuses, I wonder of all those adoring Europeans will be as enamored with the Freshman Community Organizer from Illinois. This one hits awfully close to home for them.

And did anyone notice that Medvedev said they would protect Russians EVERYWHERE? It looks like the Bear is putting the Ukraine, Baltic Republics, et al. on notice.

  18. Aron Goldman Says:

Magistrate sets $25,000 bond for Kilpatrick on two new felonies

  19. MWS Says:

It was Coulter who famously called Edwards a faggot. I’m sure she will be more than pleased to retract that in her next column.

  20. OHIO JOE Says:

I guess I do not know what a Breck Girl is. I assumed Mr. Limbaugh was referring to Boy wonder’s ability to attract the women. I also assume that when Mr. Limbaugh call Mr. Edward “the first woman candidate” he was refering to his political policies, not his sexual orientation.

  21. Big S Says:

  22. OHIO JOE Says:

I guess I learned something new, Big S.

  23. EricB Says:

Kilpatrick is the gift that keeps giving.

  24. Illinoisguy Says:

Barry will be worried about the polution with all the cars backed up on I-75 south of Atlanta. This could be a huge global warming problem.

  25. Kristofer Says:

#24, Obama wants to place an extra tax on the mortor shells.

  26. Kristofer Says:

    mortar*

  27. Ajay Says:

Uhm?? Nobody is going to post the abcnews story about Edwards admitting to an affair?

  28. MWS Says:

    Kristofer,

No. Obama will raise taxes on mortar shells, and then give people rebate checks to help make them affordable.

  29. MWS Says:

    Kristofer,

Scratch that. Obama will not allow any more mortar shell factories to be built, driving up cost. He will not allow anyone to make mortar shells out of American material, driving up the cost still further. Then he will tax the crap out of the mortar shell companies, sending costs up even more. But to make it all affordable, he will send out the rebate checks, increasing demand even more, and yes, driving up costs. This guy is a real market whiz.

  30. HearMeRoar Says:

Should future male presidents be chemically castrated before they take office so to prevent their one-eye snake from making bad decisions?

  31. MWS Says:

The Edwards revelation certainly explains why there hasn’t been a lot of talk from the Democrats about making him Veep, despite the fact that he gave Obama the highest and most consistent bumps in all of those SUSA Veepstakes polls. My guess is a lot of these guys (and gals) knew it was true, including the Obama campaign.

  32. Jeff Says:

The real battle is Georgia’s northern border… All this talk about the southern border is misinformed. It is the border dispute that is heating up and the historical accuracy of the maps dividing Georgia and Tennessee. Florida has nothing to worry about, but Tennessee needs to watch out for bucket wielding Georgians.

  33. MWS Says:

    HearMeRoar,

Obama wants to raise taxes on snakes, until they can learn to keep their coils properly inflated, eat less, and turn the thermostat off.

  34. BarkTwiggs Says:

Heh, how predictable. Edwards divulges his affair right in time for the weekend news cycle. Though, it’s official now. This is a net minus for Democrats now matter how they spin it. I almost wish the Enquirer held out for longer on the remote chance Edwards made the ticket or some other important position.

  35. PeaJay Says:

Amazing 30 posts already, none related to the admittedly pointless polling data.

Democratic affairs are nothing shocking or remarkable. THis was your ordinary, run of the mill(worker) affair that is even more pointless given the fact that Edwards is pretty much out of the political picture at this point.

  36. HearMeRoar Says:

    33. POTD

  37. Jonathan Says:

    #32:

Thanks for the reassurances Jeff. However, we Floridians are justifiably nervous about this unwanted aggression against our Northern neighbors. If they march on Alabama, then we will be cut off.

  38. BobH Says:

What I like is Edwards’ claim that he had an affair, but

    a) I’m not the father of the child, and
    b) It was while my wife’s cancer was in remission.

    a) is reminiscent of “I smoked grass, but I didn’t inhale”, and b) is the ultimate “Oh, well then it’s all OK, John.”

This guy is one of the slimiest creatures of all time.

  39. Ajay Says:

On #35. It’s not just Democrats. Remember Newt, Larry Craig, Guiliani, and that other house speaker after Newt.

  40. Marie Says:

    Hear me roar,

I’d say we need the castration just for the Democratic Presidents. It seems you can’t get into office as a Democrat anymore unless you screw around.

What a pig. (Edwards, not you)

  41. Illinoisguy Says:

Now we know more about what he meant by his “two Americas’ concept. :)

  42. Nate G. Says:

I started a new pro-Romney blog (yes, another one) today and my first real post is about this John Edwards. I hate for it to be about him and this subject in particular, but I feel it’s important to make a statement about family values. This not only bad for democrats, but I think it’s bad for America.

    http://themittblog.com/2008/08/08/breaking-john-edwards-admits-to-extramarital-affair/

  43. Adam Zuckerman Says:

This is unbelievable, from John Edwards’ admission of lying and adultery, just released:

‘I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic.’

Hmmm, does that remind you of any other Democratic politicians?

  44. Jeff Says:

You guys need to totally lay off of Edwards… “Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter.” … so, all’s good now? Twisted.

  45. Brett Passmore Says:

    Best.Thread.Today.

  46. Nate G. Says:

BTW- #38 and #41. I hope you don’t mind me quoting you. I thought those two statements were both so true.

  47. Illinoisguy Says:

I noticed it was there!! Its fine Nate.

  48. John Galt Says:

can’t believe this. he acts like the fact that it was before his wife was diagnosed wtih terminal cancer makes it better. then he admits that his wife had no idea taht he was visitin gthe women he had an affair wtih two years ago (supposedly) at 2 in the morning in california when his wife didn’t know.

i bet that made his wife who is now dying of cancer feel better than the affair was two years ago. i dobut that. what is he doing visiting her secretly then if it was over two years ago. what a slimeball. his poor wife.

then he has the audacity to say he hasn’t ruled out speaking at the dnc. he is obviously repetent and sorry abou tti when he is thinking to himself, i am sorry, but still hoping to keep my career alive if you all don’t care.

what is amazing is that the media didn’t pick up on this. for heavnes sake, he was paying her off and nmoving her around in large homes to keep her quiet the past two years. incredible.

thank goodness for drudge and tabloid trash, news agencies who actually dare to investigate and break stories in regards to democrats.

  49. Nate G. Says:

Can’t wait to hear about it on Rush tomorrow.

  50. MWS Says:

If the kid isn’t his, what’s he doing visiting his old flame at a hotel at 2 in the morning anyway?

    Another “strategy session?”

  51. BobH Says:

I’m not even paying attention to this anymore…

Of course not, Matt, just drop by long enough to spam us again, and then cover your eyes and ears and pretend it isn’t happening.

  52. MWS Says:

    According to Drudge, Edwards says…..

    “I have been stripped bare.”

So at least he knows what actions immediately preceded his adultery. That’s a good first step in figuring out how not to have sex with women who aren’t his wife.

  53. Adam Zuckerman Says:

Can someone please ban this guy who keeps trying to promote and drive traffic to his crappy website…i finally clicked through and it is pathetic and laughable, it’s written by a third-grader apparently?

  54. The Mitt Blog » Blog Archive » Breaking: John Edwards Admits to Extramarital Affair Says:

[...] There is a little discussion going on about this at Race 4 2008. There are two comments I’d like to quote: # BobH Says: August 8th, 2008 at 4:15 [...]

  55. BobH Says:

#53, Adam Z: I did the same once — I clicked one of Matt’s posts, thinking that the reason the link was there was because there was some info regarding the thread.

There wasn’t, of course. He’s just a spammer and, like you, I found his blog to be pathetic.

  56. Nate G. Says:

Edwards quote on Clinton back in 1999:

    http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/john_edwards_in_1999

  57. MWS Says:

From Ann Coulter’s last column quoting Edwards:

the following was Edwards’ response to CBS News anchor Katie Couric’s question about whether voters should care if a presidential candidate is faithful to his spouse:

“Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans — including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it’s fundamental to how you judge people and human character — whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that you love your spouse, and you’ll stay with them. … I think the most important qualities in a president in today’s world are trustworthiness — sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And — and certainly that goes to a part of that.”

    http://townhall.com/columnists/AnnCoulter/2008/08/06/only_his_hair_dresser_knows_for_sure

Of course, Edwards said that AFTER (during?) his affair.

He also said that he was already 99% honest about the afair. How does “I didn’t do it. That’s rediculous,” get you to “99% honesty?”

  58. Nate G. Says:

#57 – OUCH. There are so many things he’s said that are going to come back and haunt him.

  59. MacisBack08 Says:

I always could see a snake-oil salesman in John Edwards, but I do admit that these events are a bit shocking. He did a good job of fooling a lot pf ppl including me into thinking he was a committed family man who loved his very ill wife.

  60. MacisBack08 Says:

The politicians that talk the most about family values and ethics and seem like faithful committed family men are usually the ones that get caught in sex scandals… Craig, Foley, Spitzer, and now Edwards.

  61. KnightHawk Says:

    List is missing Vitter.

  62. Victor A Says:

Affairs are common in both parties. So, its really a wash. Just some on both sides are better at hidding it than others. Have you seen the latest gallup poll. It has Obama up by 5 now. The gallup one went up last week (NON-Weekend days) and now it has gone up again. Its difficult to know which polls are accurate but if they two are averaged Obama is still ahead. Likely and Registered hum.
The state poll shoes McCain has a decent lead in MO but Obama increased his lead in MI, according to Ram polls.

Anyway, maybe Mccain will pick a good VP but I think Liberman, the other younger guy out west would be a bad pick

The Candidates
