#1, there is a major issue with the NYT/CBS poll. They have McCain only winning 9% of Democrats. They have Obama running stronger with Democrats, than McCain with Republicans.
Now this is interesting. Look at this from the NBC/WSJ poll.
“It’s also worth noting that while Obama leads McCain by three points in the poll, Clinton edges the Republican by six points in a hypothetical match up, 49 to 43 percent.”
If the next election for president were held today, and John McCain were the Republican candidate and Hillary Clinton were the Democratic candidate, for whom would you vote?
Hillary Clinton 49%
John McCain 43%
Please tell me whether you think that Barack Obama or John McCain would be better on that issue:
Improving the economy
Obama 42%
McCain 30%
Healthcare
Obama 48%
McCain 27%
Energy and the cost of gas
Obama 39%
McCain 32%
The situation in Iraq
McCain 46%
Obama 36%
International crises such as Iran or Russia and the nation of Georgia
McCain 52%
Obama 27%
On #9. I bet liberals on other blogs are looking at those same numbers and saying how poorly informed voters are on terrorism, foreign policy, and illegal immigration.

I just read the CBS poll with the same number.
http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/campaign2008/Aug08A-elec.pdf
Check out the bottom where they “weigh” the poll and add more Dems and Indies and toss out Republicans.

Are they using the weighted numbers listed ?
If they are that would be 20 % more Democrats than Republicans and too many independants also I would think.
Still OK being within 3%…

Wasn’t this the poll S. Hannity was saying would show a Bush lead? Even so, if you’re within 10 in a CBS poll your doing fine.

shows you how poorly informed some of the voters are on the economy, healtcare and last but not least energy.
I hope McCain and company puts enough energy into informing the uninformed voters.
