Ex-Dem Chair Apologizes for Hurricane Remark
August 31, 2008 5:55 PM ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler apologized on Sunday for joking in a private conversation that the timing of Hurricane Gustav demonstrates that God is on the side of the Democrats. “If this offended anybody, I personally apologize,” Fowler told ABC News. “It was a mistake, and it was a satirical statement made in jest. And one that I clearly don’t believe.” Fowler was secretly recorded by the person sitting behind him while flying from Denver, Colo., to Charlotte, N.C., following the Democratic National Convention. His conversation with Rep. John Spratt, D-S.C., was anonymously posted to YouTube and highlighted by RedState.com, a conservative blog.
Read it all via link above.
This is yet another example of the fading influence of the MSM and the rising influence of Redstate.com, The Minority Report, our own Race42008 and other conservative blogs and media. See also that John Edwards was forced to admit his affair before the MSM fully reported that story.
My next blog will chronicle this phenomenon.

Imagine if a Conservative had said such a shameful thing.

#1OhioJoe,The MSM would not have to be drug kicking and screaming to report that. They would be knocking each other over to be the first to report it.( as usual)
Oh I hope you are right, Mike, about the fading influence of the MSM. The only chance McCain\Palin have of getting fair, accurate and positive reporting is through the internet, maybe from radio and sometimes Fox.

Was just over at NoQuarter web site, the PUMA site. They seem to be more interested in reform aka McCain\Palin style, than social issues. They also want something to be done to clean up the mess in Washington and they don’t trust the Dems to do it. Well anyway that was my impression from reading three of their articles and the comments following those articles.

Sorry about another comment. But Fowler did not really accept responsibility for his statement. He prefixed the statement by “IF I have offended anyone”. That is a weak way to apologize and does not respect the person being apologized to.

the hurricane costs aside…this would seem to help the GOP….it lets the fervor of the BO convention die down…gives some time separaton…and gets Bush out of there…..although he is not part of Obama’s team this kind of Dem thinking just further shows why, strategically, McCain’s people are absolutely SCHOOLING Axelord and company…the only thing saving obama is being obama..his campaign team is utterly medicore so far

#4 oh of course, they never do
but that he had to acknowledge it is huge evidence of the power of the alt media

And, of course, Fowler blamed it on the “right-wing nutcase” that recorded his statements. Screw him.

it was joke…nothing more, but you are right if a repub was caught it would have been blown out of proportion.
I still don’t get why anyone can joke anymore…just like reagan announcing that russia would be bombed
