100 Blogs for Sarah

The left is in a tizzy and, as usual, the weak-kneed right is falling apart. There’s something disconcerting about this; about the utter lack of self-confidence. Let me give you a little tip; the KosKids, DUmmies, and their ilk are dumber then a bag of rocks. And insane. Did I mention insane? But, they’re motivated. And they’re determined. And they don’t let little things like “facts” and “consistency” get in their way. And they hate, hate, hate, hate Sarah Palin. If I knew nothing else about her, that would be sufficient reason to rise to her defense. But, I know an awful lot more about her; I know she’s smart. Maybe not Ivy smart; maybe not sitting on the quad sipping lattes while listening to some Wilco in your hot new polo smart, but pretty darn smart. I know she’s taken on a corrupt Alaskan establishment, and ultimately come around on some pretty important issues to conservatives. I know she’s a wife, a mother, a hunter, a fisherwoman, and a lover of sports.

And she’s not an elite. She’s from Alaska./sarc. This does not compute for the left. The only sorts of acceptable people in their universe are Ivy League blowhards cooling it in hopping Metro’s, and bi-focalled, dishevelled, 20 somethings, living in their mothers’ basements, eating cheetos off the carpet, in their underwear. If you left Barack Obama or any of these leftist clowns in Alaska, they’d be huddling under a makeshift hut listening to their Ipod, aka Ben Stiller in Tropic Thunder (I think I’ll call it Arctic Thunder). So they’re gleefully out to destroy Sarah Palin, to vindicate their own superiority, and because they figure that just a few more hate-filled blog-posts, and they’ll have enough ad money to get out of the basement and move to the attic. Maybe afford non-lint filled cheetos. And the Right is huddling too; not in a basement, but in their living rooms; those yokel living rooms, where folks cling to their guns and know how to clean a fish, and work during the day, before popping onto the couch to throw back a Yuengling. They’re huddling because they’re self-destructive. And because they don’t have moral courage. And because they’re cowed by 8 years of Bush, and by their moderate and liberal friends who think we’ve never had it so bad. And they don’t want to win.

That’s most of the right. Then there’s the conservative elite, who are equally perturbed that Governor Palin doesn’t have Ivy dripping from her diploma, and hasn’t spent years smoozing think tankers and laughing inanely at cocktail parties. They don’t get her either. And they’re afraid that they’ll be kicked out of the club of Foucalt reading, wrist-flipping, dandies if they defend her too strenuously. So it’s up to us. We can stand back and be cowed, and hand the country over to a bunch of leftist thugs (yes, thugs)- and make no mistake that’s what we’ll be doing if we “wait” to see how this Palin thing shakes out, remaining “objective” so we can hold our head high if it all goes awry. Or we can defend about the only thing/person/idea that’s gotten conservatives excited since George Bush put away John F. Kerry in 2004, and before that, since Ronald Wilson Reagan strapped on his cowboy boots and rode off into the sunset. It’s your choice. I don’t pretend to know how you’ll choose, but I’m casting my lot with Sarah.

And I’m going to start a blog, with this as a first post, to try to revive some energy back into the conservative movement. To combat, the Koskids, and the DUmmies, and the escaped mental patients. Not a big blog, or a fancy blog. I’m just one citizen. But, I have something to say. I have someone to defend. And if you’re honest, and if you’re brave, and if you’re active, you’ll realize you have something to say too;and that finally, finally, maybe you have someone worth defending. So start a blog. Defend Sarah. Maybe we won’t get to a hundred; maybe we don’t need a hundred; maybe I’m totally bonkers. But, there’s something to be said for the activism it takes to insert yourself into the process, rather then passively watching it crush you. That’s how movements are built. Here’s mine, with this post. Where’s yours?

Ugh, I keep trying to post some support for your cause Mr. Miller, but the spam filter is eating everything up!

  2. Hunter Says:

LOL… “maybe not sitting on the quad sipping lattes while listening to some Wilco in your hot new polo smart” Ugh, I’ve always hated Wilco, but hearing Barack go on about them made it that much worse.

Anyway, great past, Matthew. You’re right on.

  3. EricB Says:

You are so right Matthew! Why is the right afraid? Of course the media is going to attack her. She’s a threat to them! When Obama picked Biden, did you see stories about how Biden is a racist and sexist???? Of course not. They’re in league with the Democrats. If we don’t defend her, no one will.

  4. MarkG Says:

20 somethings, living in their mothers’ basements, eating cheetos off the carpet in their underwear.

Oh, please stop! You’re making me nostalgic. ;-)

  5. Jeff Says:

    spam filter sucks

  6. JB Says:

“And they’re afraid that they’ll be kicked out of the club of Foucalt reading, wrist-flipping, dandies if they defend her too strenuously” :)

    good post Matthew.

  7. MVRed.com Says:

Why not just post on that blog… every ‘linkable blog’ that will join you in your efforts on their respective forums.

For instance… Post the link: MVRed.com ont here because I will defend her….

    Catch my drift.

  8. JA Pruce Says:

I think that in Governor Palin we might be seeing the next Reagan. We need to shout this loud and clear for the media to hear: Governor Palin has 10 years of Executive experience! More than Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, GHWB, GWB when they became President!

  9. Armeni Says:

I just read that story, poor Romney sounds dilliusioned and disappointed, seriously.
Imagine - his money and religion RUINING this all for him?
    It is one shame.

  10. Gery- Says:

#8, Newt G said today that the left is absolutely affraid of Palin and they have not been this sacred since Reagan.

  11. Armeni Says:

JA - 8 of it is in lil ole Wasilla (pop 8900). Doh.

  12. Hunter Says:

Obama and Biden haven’t run so much as a Dairy Queen, much less a small town.

  13. Armeni Says:

Romney wil run and win in CA. (Gov.).
Then go on to the Presidency in 2016, but he will be 70 .

  14. Armeni Says:

    will

  15. Armeni Says:

JFK never ran a DQ either !

  16. IR-MN Says:

An excellent post Matt. We’ll see what comes to fruition. The problem is that the media has been doing none stop distortions. Luckily, all this junk came out today, on labor day and the day Gustuv came to shore. I can’t believe the media is going after Palin like they are, but they utterly ignored Obama’s background with Aryes, Wright, Rezco, etc. This is probably the most biased coverage I’ve seen in a while. Remember how they came to Chealsea’s defense with Rush attacked her. They’re utterly destroying Palin’s daughter just for their political motives. Steve Schmidt has got to get tougher though.

As for the right, this isn’t the blog I would think that would go to the mat for Sarah. Notice how there has been almost no posts on this blog since Sarah’s been picked. If Rudy, Ridge or Lieberman had gotten picked, it would be have been a nonestop deluge. But that’s the nature of the leadership on this blog. But the HotAir like blogs have been pretty good.

  17. Hunter Says:

Romney couldn’t get reelected in Massachusetts. Now he’s going to run for governor of California? Can you say carpetbagger?

  18. JA Pruce Says:

Governor Palin also has more military experience than Obama and Biden combined as CIC of the Alaskan National Guard.

  19. Hunter Says:

And JFK ended up being a miserable failure. Go figure.

I have no interest in perpetuating the Kennedy mythos, sorry.

  20. Dizzy Says:

#18- Please tell us what she did as CIC of the Alaskan National Guard. List all the tough decisions this entailed.

  21. Matthew E. Miller Says:

    Armeni,

And JFK was a thoroughly mediocre President, despite sharing more with me ideologically then any Democrat since Truman? What’s your point. In the Wall Street Journals ratings of the best Presidents ever, 4 of the 5 were executives, with Lincoln the sole exception. The worst Presidents were Senators. If Americans knew anything about history, they’d understand this and wouldn’t be bemoaning the fact that Palin hadn’t spent a trillion and half years in Washington or (better yet), only 3 years in Washington, and 8 years genuflecting to Mayor Daley.

  22. JA Pruce Says:

Governor Palin has been in elected office longer than most of the recent Presidents save for LBJ, Nixon and GHWB. Palin has the experience and judgement to lead. Ready on Day one.

  23. Armeni Says:

Hunter ! Y do U imagine he bought his Cali property ???

  24. Hunter Says:

Dizzy: Please list all the tough executive decisions Obama and Biden have had to make.

  25. AC1 Says:

    http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837862,00.html?xid=rss-topstories

You people need to calm down.

  26. Armeni Says:

    You’ve got a point there Matthew !

  27. Dizzy Says:

#22- That didn’t answer the question. You said she had more experience that Obama & Biden as CIC of the National Guard. What did she do in this position? What tough decisions did she have to make?

  28. AC1 Says:

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/01/mccain-camps-detailed-review-of-palin-1/

This is what I meant to post.

  29. MWS Says:

    Matthew,

Great post. I think you are right about many of the Washington elites. Unless you’ve been attending their cocktail parties for a certain period of time, you’re not “qualified.”

  30. Hunter Says:

Armeni: Maybe he will run for governor. I don’t particularly have a problem with that. Heck, if the alternative is Barbara Boxer (or whatever), more power to him. I just don’t see that endeavor being particularly successful. And if his election history in Massachusetts is any guide, he’ll probably shift his positions on cultural issues again, making it that much tougher for him to win over the GOP base in 2012, 2016 or whenever.

  31. Big S Says:

    #22

You make yourself sound like a fool when you count Palin’s small-town mayor job as important experience. Just when is an office too small to qualify?

  32. Armeni Says:

I guess many of us just thought Mitt Romney was the best and makes all others PALEn.
    (LOL)

  33. Jeff Says:

When comparing experience, has anyone - and I mean anyone - yet provided information about what a “community organizer” does? And if so, how does such “experience” provide One with the judgement and experience to be CIC?

  34. Jeff Says:

I’d like to request that the term “Romney” be added to the spam filter for the next 10 weeks please. Thank you.

  35. Armeni Says:

OMG can any of us see Mayor Menino of Boston using allll of his experience to try to run for a
    higher office?

    Anyone know of Mayor Menino?

Hint: I am LOL as I am typing this !

  36. JA Pruce Says:

    Big S,

Why are you denigrating small town USA? Palin has more executive experience than 6 of our last 7 Presidents PERIOD. Palin is a reformer with results, her opposition to the “Bridge to Nowhere” and her superior judgement about the Iraq war make her one of the most qualified VPs ever. The MSM is trying to maker her into Dan Quayle or Thomas Eagleton -well that won’t work, and besides Quayle won in a landslide.

  37. Hunter Says:

#33: It’s a phoney-baloney job and anyone that’s ever held a real job realizes it.

  38. Jerseyrepublican Says:

I have no doubt that Sarah Palin will do an amazing job on her speech this week and it will put to rest her ability and her experience and hopefully we can join together, as a party, and feel safe and secure that she may be the guardian of our safety one day, the guardian of our borders and the guardian of our energy independence. I support McCain/Palin and I WILL VOTE for them on Nov. 4th. Can anyone else, will anyone else join me in this proclamation?

  39. MarkG Says:

“Community organizer” isn’t a job description, it’s a weak resume alibi for “functionally unemployed.” :-D

  40. Thomas Says:

I will join you Jerseyrepublican. McCain/Palin all the way!

  41. Jerseyrepublican Says:

Thomas, well at least we know they have 2 votes…we might just win this election.

  42. Jeff Says:

    I’m in JerseyGOP

  43. Thomas Says:

    Haha, indeed

  44. Jerseyrepublican Says:

There’s three, thanks Jeff…this is really becoming a grassroots campaign.

  45. Jerseyrepublican Says:

BTW, I asked this on another post but does anybody know who pays for this site…just curious really…I know with bandwidth these sites can become expensive.

  46. HearMeRoar Says:

Matthew E. Miller, what a wonderful post. It’s great to see a man with spine. And here’s my newly minted blog with a post, inspired by your thread today: http://coldwatermermaid.wordpress.com/

  47. MarkG Says:

Jersey, count me in. AFAIK, it’s just the site’s gracious owner, Kavon W. Nikrad.

  48. ktaven Says:

Great post Matthew. I agree. I don’t know which is worse…. the “haters” in the nutroots/left or the cowards on the right. We can be principled and care about truth and still fight like hell. I’m fighting for my country, my beliefs, and my life. We should be a great country with a diversity of opinion with campaigns and elections to decide the future of our nation, but if they want war then bring it on. We will be standing when it is over!!! And America will be better.

  49. Will Says:

Hahaha, way to ridiculously stereotype the party divides. Just the discourse we need!

  50. jackson Says:

She’s not in charge of the National Guard and has nothing to do with them. They’re under federal control and she’s not even briefed.

  51. KnightHawk Says:

    Matt,

Might be good to pass along a link to this on HillaryClintonforums.net, same shared goals and all.

  52. IR-MN Says:

    good for you hearmeroar

  53. Tony Says:

Kavon, I get the sense that your spam filter is making the site unusable …

  54. Faye Says:

Count me in too, Jersey. #51 KnightHawk is right. I visited NoQuarter for the first time yesterday and when back today after reading some of the stuff that was on here. Most of the articles and comments over at NoQuarter were more positive, supportive and compassionate for Palin than some of the articles and comments here. Now that is sad.
