Who Will Support Our Military?

I happen to work for the US Army. In general you don’t see political discussions there. We avoid that sort of stuff.

What I do hear all the time is:

“There’s a new administration coming in January”

This statement is delivered in the tone of:

“We’ve found a mass in your colon.”

There’s some nervousness about what the new administration will do to our military.

Will they cut funding to missile defense?

Will they tie the hands of our soldiers and the civilians who support them?

Everyone claims to be a patriot and supporter of our troops. The fact is one candidate has put himself on record opposing missile defense and in favor of restricting our troops.

One candidate has accused our troops of crimes. One candidate has opposed giving our troops the resources they need to fight and win. One candidate has even opposed giving them the resources that save their lives.

Barack Obama has a much more radical agenda for our military than you can imagine. He plans to cut our military because he doesn’t see a role for it. Oh, except acting as a prop to demonstrate his patriotism.

If Barack is a real patriot, I’d ask him to support our military right now. He can do that but it would require more than words. It would require courage in a party that views the military with suspicion. It would also require that he work to actually pass bills to provide our military what it needs to win.

I guess that’s asking too much since Senator Obama has never passed a major bill in his life. Let’s just elect McCain so our soldiers and military civilians don’t have to find out what Obama is planning for them.

I’ve got to include this scary video of Obama’s plans against our military (h/t bethtopaz):

Ok, you won me over. Ill vote for McCain!

    thanks Doug.

  2. Doug Forrester Says:

Brett do I detect sarcasm there?
You know there are a lot of Kos trolls apparently flooding the blog.

I’m surprised the Kossacks don’t try a DOS attack. I hope genuine support of our troops will scare them off. Sort of like slugs and salt.

  3. bethtopaz Says:

This is a disturbing YouTube of Obama on his plans for the military and our National Defense:

  4. Doug Forrester Says:

bethtopaz, that video really describes how Obama favors giving away our position in outer space to the Chinese and Russians, he favors letting our military grow obsolete, and he favors leaving our troops open to missile attacks.

I’m not sure why Lightning doesn’t strike this man when he claims to support our military. His plan is to essentially mothball our military.

  5. Brett Passmore Says:

Doug, i was just playing - my vote is firmly decided. You know my stance. It was sarcasm…. in a good way.

  6. Jerseyrepublican Says:

I’ve never seen this video…is this a campaign ad?

  7. Jerseyrepublican Says:

This is a dangerous man and whatever his motives may be, the result will certainly weaken our country and open up an aggressive campaign from our enemies to never, ever have to fear the might of the U.S. military again. I cannot begin to imagine our fate if this man becomes President.

LOL. If it’s not, it should be a McCain ad just tack on some text at the end “no, we didn’t edit the video, Sen.McCains response:”… cut to McCain “Disastrous” cut to I’m john mccain and I approved this message”

  9. Brett Passmore Says:

This is a compelling video - wow. Why was this recorded when it can so easily be turned against him? weird.

  10. Jerseyrepublican Says:

Is it just me or has Obama seemed a little more nervous since he became privy to some of the intelligence Bush is privy to? I’m Barack Obama and I am offically in over my head.

  11. KnightHawk Says:

Oh did Barry finally get his 1 hour CIA briefing?

  12. Gamecock Says:

    Who? Republicans only since 1972

  13. Jerseyrepublican Says:

Yeah on Tuesday or Wednesday…he hasn’t seemed the same since…nah it was probably McSarah.

  14. Thomas Alan Says:

That’s interesting to know. It probably is a gut-blow to realize that he knows so little about what’s going on.

Though you’re probably right. He’s just off his game because the Palin effect is gonna hurt.

  15. Jerseyrepublican Says:

Yeah, we have no idea of the horrors W is briefed on, on a daily basis.

  16. sampo Says:

“i will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material”

I honestly dont think Barry is telling me he will outlaw nuclear energy, but how can that quote NOT mean that?

  17. Cp Says:

Is there any doubt that McCain will run away with the military vote?

  18. Cp Says:

BTW, McCain is either brilliant politically or ran into a bunch of luck. His pick of Palin has completely solidfied the base and now he can do what he is more comfortable with, scolding both Dems and Repubs with a message that everyone relates to (i.e. both sides are do-nothing and currupt). He couldn’t afford this message before because the right was not behind him. And if he picked Pawlenty, Romney, or any other right-winger (which I am one), no one in the middle would have believed him or paid attention. What a great place to be in with a potentially winning message!!!

  19. Cp Says:

Everyone thinks the Palin pick will allow McCain to reach out to women. That is probably true to a certain extent. But the bigger win here is that he can go after the middle without the Republican base leaving him now.

  20. Illinoisguy Says:

All we would need at the end is “I’m John McCain and I approve this message”!!

What’s the backgrouond of that video?

Seriously, if that video is 100% legitimate then this might be bigger than Born Alive.

  22. bethtopaz Says:

I found this video at the first of the year and have been sending it out to people I meet, along with other damning YouTubes, for quite awhile now. Someone needs to get this to McCain’s campaign. They can probably do the research as to when Obama said this.

    But, it’s definitely Obama talking.

Although, he’ll probably say, “That’s not the Obama that I knew.”

Yes, this is a very damning video and should be broadcast everywhere.

  23. Hunter Says:

It’s just a little odd that the way the camera’s moving around the whole time and can’t stay focused on Obama. But yeah, I don’t think that video is going to win many votes for him…

  24. MarkG Says:

Good work, Beth. That video totally unmasks Obama as a dyed-in-the-wool leftist hardliner: He would clearly prefer to disarm and defeat America, which he finds far more threatening than any of our foreign adversaries and enemies.

This guy would be dangerous as Commander in Chief. The Dem party and its candidate clearly aim to perform grand leftist experiments on our country unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

  25. bethtopaz Says:

    #24 Thanks MarkG.

I was just watching The Beltway Boys on Fox News and I was so frustrated with Mort Kondracke that I had to turn it off.

It’s clear that he got his Dem talking points from the Obama headquarters.

He kept saying that Palin was not experienced enough to be POTUS if she had to take over.

She has so much more experience than Obama. Here’s a letter I wrote to Obama supporters:

    Letter to Obama Supporters everywhere:

Obama talks about hope and change and what he will do in the future, based on a record of zero accomplishments.

The strength of McCain and Palin is that they want to reform Washington for America, based on a strong track record of successful accomplishments.

Please tell me, right here, what Obama has done in the past to make a positive difference for the lives of people he has represented in Illinois.

Here’s an example of what Obama left behind in the slums of Chicago:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP-YoB5mnZs

Please tell me, right here, what his qualifications are for the position of POTUS.

Please tell me, right here, what Obama has done to confront the well-known corruption in the the Daley Machine/Chicago Politics.

Please tell me what reform Obama has brought about in the past.

Words, just words — that’s all Obama has to show for his hope and change mantra.

Obama CHANGES his mind on issues constantly, and HOPES you don’t notice. (Latest switch - the Surge “successful beyond our wildest dreams/imagination - but still would be against it.”

Obama wants to use Washington and the power of the presidency to change America into a Socialist State.

McCain/Palin want to change Washington to keep America free, great and strong!!

  26. Jim Says:

sombody needs to take that freak out now!

The Candidates
