NEW YORK (AP) - Charles Gibson’s interviews with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will form the basis of a special prime-time edition of “20/20″ Friday, ABC said Wednesday.
Gibson is traveling to Fairbanks and Wasilla, Alaska, for the first TV interviews with Palin since she was selected as John McCain’s running mate. The first excerpts of the talks will be shown on “World News” Thursday.
Gibson is having three separate interviews with Palin, ABC said. Parts of the interviews will be spread around other ABC news programs, including “Nightline” and “Good Morning America.”
The prime-time special, at 10 p.m. EDT, will also include a bio of Palin by ABC’s Kate Snow and a round-table discussion on the presidential race moderated by George Stephanopoulos.
The Alaska Republican has proven to be a ratings-grabber during her short time on the national political scene. Her speech to the GOP national convention last week was seen by more than 40 million people, according to Nielsen Media

Aron, I appreciate your collection of interesting links, but if you are going to call this the list of “essential” reads, please whittle it down to a list that can actually be digested. I see the length of this list and just shut down.
September 10th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Welcome back to the Reads, Aron.
You might also note that the Atlantic has a cover on McCain and his view of the role of war out now, done by Jeffry Goldberg. Access it for free at the Atlantic’s site.
I’ve got the print edition and am waiting to read it ’til next week when I’m probably going to spend a day or two in jury selection. Just as a heads-up on the cover, though.

Here’s the smoking gun on the lipstick line…
http://www.democrats.org/page/community/post/elizabethberry/Cgsq
Blog post published 8/30… a mere 10 days or so before Obama just stumbled upon the reference in his remarks.
Well, one thing we know about Obama is tha the has a tendancy to ‘borrow’ other people’s writing without properly crediting their effort. The fact that this blog post is on the official DNC website does not look good for camp Obama…

4:
Hold on, does that mean he was calling McCain a pig?
September 10th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
10 - exactly right… Obama - again lifting the words directly from someone else - asserted that if he were referencing Palin, she would be the lipstick, and McCain would be the pig… That identical comparison “Palin is lipstick on a pig” was made on the DNC blog 11 days ago

Rap about Sarah Palin
September 11th, 2008 at 2:36 am
SOunds like the dem site was calling the pig the ’same old failed policies of the republicans’. Either way, Palin is obviously the lipstick and that is not what he told O’Reilly, or other explanations. He obviousl lied because he said this had nothing to do with Palin.

Thanks for that. I posted it to my Facebook. It’s heartening to see that there are young people out there that get it. I hope this can break through the media brainwashing so many of them seem to have bought into.

this recent lipstick issue has made me realize that McCain has become quite the politician since he got his party’s nomination… he has proven time and again that his strategy for winning is based on personal attacks and distracting people from the main issues
