I am waiting to see this fact in coverage of last night’s debate: Nobody has mentioned that Sarah Palin still doesn’t know the difference between the Shiites and the Sunnis in Iraq. From the transcript, “We cannot afford to lose against al Qaeda and the Shia extremists who are still there…” [from the CNN transcript online]

In truth, the al Qaeda network led by Osama bin Laden is comprehensively Sunni and subscribes to a form of Sunni Islam known for not tolerating theological deviation. In fact, U.S. officials blame al Qaeda’s former leader in Iraq, the late Abu Musab al Zarqawi, for the surge in sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shiites. I double checked this on Reuters just to make sure I wasn’t making any error.

    1. Marlene: There are Shiite extremists in Iraq, who the hec do you think comes over from Iran??

One more thing, if the U.S. leaves Iraq early, like the liberal socialists Biden and Obama want to do then there will be a Shiite extremist power vacum in the region.

    One of only many examples:

U.S. blames Shiite extremists for deadly Iraq car bombing

While Palin surprisingly barely held her own in the debate last night and Biden may have had better style over substance over Palin – Biden forfeited the debate by making multiple lies.

I am trying to find the exact lies and mistatements that Biden made that were pointed out by Rove. (funny that the internet news is not carrying it). I do recall that one was on the coal issue, another on McCain’s vote against funding the troops, etc.

Longtime President Bush adviser Karl Rove: They both on the surface did good. But I counted 10 big misstatements where Joe Biden is factually wrong. Ten where he’s flat, dead wrong.”

There a Survey USA poll out of Minnesota showing McCain with a 1 point lead! Here’s all the polls I’ve found out of Minnesota:

    Star Tribune: Tied
    Big 10 Battleground: Obama +2
    Rasmussen: Obama +8
    Quinnipiac: Obama +2
    CNN/Time: Obama +11
    Survey USA: McCain +1

The internals of the Survey USA poll are consistent with past turnouts in Minnesota. Minnesota has been trending Republican over the years due to the growth of the twin cities suburbs. It’s winnable, but I still think we’re the underdog there.

Please note: The transcript as posted has an error.

Sarah Palin said: “And I may not answer the questions THE WAY that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I’m going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also.”

I agree with Michelle Malkin and the 10,000+ at the rally for Sarah Palin after the debate: SARAH ROCKS! She was was EXCELLENT.

I hope they win and I think it is a definite possibility that they will, and win big. Let’s remember that McCain is a fighter pilot. The goal is to win the election, and we still have 30+ days until Nov. 4th.

I am thrilled to live in a free country where all this stuff really matters. I LOVE Sarah Palin.

Here is the paragraph with the corrected text. I is about 1/6th of the way in to the debate, as I recall.

PALIN: I’m still on the tax thing because I want to correct you on that again. And I want to let you know what I did as a mayor and as a governor. And I may not answer the questions THE WAY that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I’m going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also. As mayor, every year I was in office I did reduce taxes. I eliminated personal property taxes and eliminated small business inventory taxes and as governor we suspended our state fuel tax. We did all of those things knowing that that is how our economy would be heated up. Now, as for John McCain’s adherence to rules and regulations and pushing for even harder and tougher regulations, that is another thing that he is known for though. Look at the tobacco industry. Look at campaign finance reform.

    Race,

I, like you and many of your readers, am a Sarah Palin fan.

I came across your site through Michelle Malkin’s site.

Also, I get a decent amount (not Malkin-sized!) of traffic, in case you have anything
    you would like to promote.
