Like most former/current Chicago residents, I was pretty astonished that Obama was starting his “change” administration with the quintessential face of Chicago Boss politics, one Rahm Emanual. It seemed something akin to inviting Al Capone to run the Treasury Department. Well, thanks to my old blogging home Illinois Review, we learn that high-taxing-Rahmy does not believe in paying high taxes himself:
According to the Cook County Assessor’s website, the Chicago home of four-term Democrat Congressman and likely new White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, doesn’t exist. While the address of 4228 North Hermitage is listed as Emanuel’s residence on the Illinois State Board of Elections’ website, there seems to be no public record of Emanuel ever paying property taxes on this home…
Why wouldn’t 4228 North Hermitage property owners Rahm Emanuel and wife Amy Rule not pay property taxes?
One reason may be because Emanuel and Rule declared their 4228 North Hermitage home as the office location for their non-profit foundation appropriately called the “Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Foundation”. As a non-profit headquarters, they may consider their home as exempt from paying taxes.
I guess the change we can believe to see is “what is good for thee is not for me.”

Just to note, Roy Blunt’s stepping down.

Will this get any media coverage?

Despite being a “three-legged” conservative, I try to be pretty logical and even-handed. Ok I admit to watching the Grant Park celebration and commenting to my friend, “All of these people are gonna be his Red Khmer.” along with, “This might become like the Red Guard for Chairman Maobama.”
Look, I was upset I lost my election bet.
Now that the logic has returned, I’ve actually felt really good the last 2 days and I can blend my initial hysterics in disappointment with an even-handed observation.
One of the more startling yet ironically gradual realizations I’ve had is that Obama expanded local community organizing nationwide through the internet. Likewise he expanded his political roots that way.
Now expanding helpful community organizing through the internet is great. But many seem to think a lot of this community organizing is really community agitating. There is also the aspect of Obama being a student and product of Chicago machine politics. My concern is that Obama wants to transition DC into a national political machine in the image and likeness of Chicago. Combine this with his internet and ground game alongside Dean’s 50-state strategy and we have a formidable and organized political and even cultural force that conservatives have never dealt with before. At the same time this could be a huge target to fire criticism against.

Knives Come Out for Palin
The New York Times reports on the internal battles between staffs of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin.
“The tensions and their increasingly public airing provide a revealing coda to the ill-fated McCain-Palin ticket, hinting at the mounting turmoil of a campaign that was described even by many Republicans as incoherent, negative and badly run.”
But most remarkable is a Fox News report on how bad it was. McCain aides say Palin lacked “a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency.”
Key examples: She didn’t know which countries were in NAFTA, she didn’t understand Africa was a continent and not a country, and she refused preparation for her interviews with Katie Couric.
She was part of the reason Mccain’s problems.
I still want to hear more about why the Bradley affect cost Obama the election

If you guys could replace the leadership in the party, what would be your choices? Mine would be:
GOP Chairman: Michael Steele
Senate
Minority Leader: Jim DeMint
Minority Whip: Mitch McConnell or Jim Inhofe
House
Minority Leader: Eric Cantor
Minority Whip: John Shadegg

Justin, I don’t think DeMint or Cantor have the right personalities to be the faces of the GOP. Good policies, wrong personalities.

Looks like we are about to lose the Oregon Senate race….not good….

Richard L: the Bradley effect is really a scientific intelligence test designed to reveal to the world who the morons are. By carefully disguising it as a voting phenomenon, it latches onto the minds of clinical imbeciles and makes them vocally obsessed with it, thereby helping society know how to manage around the mentally-challenged.
It’s apparently effective. What else do you want to know about it?

Metro, who do you consider has the right personality?
November 6th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
So I’m losing more money by the minute…first taxes with the Obama plan…now the stock market tanking…How long until people turn on Obama?
And if it is economics we are running on in 2012 (which it almost certainly will be), I can’t see how Romney will not be part of the ticket in some shape or form…

Palin is just not electable. I know people here absolutely love her views, and I respect that. However, we need someone that can pull in the independent vote, and she can absolutely not do that. No questions asked. She does appeal to the SoCons and can rally them, but they are already in our party. We need someone who can get the independent vote.
My real opinion is that 2012 is a losing proposition for us. Obama gets a pass his first term. The media is already telling us to lower our expectations, and Obama is doing the same. People, it is highly unlikely that he is not a 2-term president.

#10, Thune is an attractive personality. Not sure about his record on earmarks though.
I’d have to watch more YouTube of Pence, Shadegg, Flake before I could comment on how they come across.

Wow! Gordon Smith just lost his seat in Oregon according to Fox news. The democrats are getting closer to the magic number! ;((

I think Rahm is onto something. We should all start a charitable foundation and do as he has.

I think Mike Pence has the right personality… Not exactly electrifying, but he comes across as being a likeable, regular guy.

Are we ready to put Obamas’ face on Mount Rushmore?

Rahm Emanual’s brother is the Hollywood agent of Michael Moore?
