Why on earth would anyone celebrate a law enforcement agent who shoots an unarmed man in the back?
Maybe, given honorable careers and the stresses of the job, maybe the sentences were a tad harsh, and the commutation justified.
But it absolutely turns my stomach to hear people try to make these guys out as heroes of some type. There is nothing heroic in what they did – in fact it was an instance of government agents acting as tyrants. It is amazing how little regard most conservatives seem to have for any sort of principles of law or decency when it comes to seeing people that they don’t like harmed.
These guys are scumbags. They didn’t report the incident at the border, in an attempt to cover their asses. I had hoped they’d stay in prison for a while. Don’t make heroes out of scumbags, or you’ll start to look like one yourself.
Maybe PajamasMedia will give these guys microphones and turn them into “reporters” like J the P.

These guys are NOT heroes. They shot someone when they didnt even know if the dude was armed or not or even shot at them. They shouldve stayed in jail, for trying to cover up something like that, they had no prove the guy was linked to the vehicle.

Hooray, Great news!!!

Hooray!!
Finally some justice for those 2 men. Can he sentence that drug dealer to serve the remainder of their sentences consecutively??
January 19th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Well, it was a commutation, not a pardon, and I actually think that was the proper action.

Oh yeah – Bush should have fired that federal prosecutor while he was at it.
January 19th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Thank heavens they finally get out of jail. But they should also be given medals for defending the country.
January 19th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I cannot disagree with that Dan!

Thank you W! As for as I’m concerned this makes you leave office with a high note.

Libby deserves a pardon. I will be very dissapointed if Bush doesn’t make this right.
Clarice Feldman at AmericanThinker did an excellent job covering the case.

Well, it’s about time!
January 19th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Lets not make the man into a harmless victim who was just in the wrong place – the guy was a drug dealer…

It’s about time.

ITS ABOUT TIME, BUSH!!! GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU.
Let’s get a real conservative for President next time.

The agents did not know that when they shot him.

Here’s Andy McCarthy of NRO (who I often disagree with, btw) on Ramos and Compean:

“Why on earth would anyone celebrate a law enforcement agent who shoots an unarmed man in the back?” Tell your sad story to Glenn Beck.

Yeah, sorry — these guys are not heroes.

19, Wow, you and Big S. really do think alike.
January 19th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Count me in on that, John. These men broke the law, tried to hide the evidence, and then lied about it.
January 19th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Its about time major kudos goes to Glenn Beck for agressivley covering this story!
January 20th, 2009 at 4:08 am
I guess that means that any border patrol or law enforcement can shoot any mexican or colored person and try to cover it up
