Majority of Democrats wanted Bush to Fail

Funny how in all the Limbaugh hysteria no one bothers to ask Carville, Begala, and Emanuel why a majority of Democrats wanted George Bush to fail.

Is the main stream media saying it is OK to root for failure if the President is a Republican??? Rush Limbaugh is just one man with one opinion, but 51% of Democrats rooting for failure is as unpatriotic as it can get, according to the new liberal logic on the subject. Mr. Carville and Mr. Begala should be ashamed of themselves and their party.

You’re falling into a classical logical fallacy here. Just because the Democrats did something unpatriotic doesn’t mean that Republicans are justified doing the same.

  2. Will Says:

The media is clearly hyping this up way too much, and their bias goes without saying…but I think it’s fair to say that the country is in pretty bad shape right now, and wanting a president to fail when their main issue is economic recovery is basically saying that you want an economic recovery to fail. There was no equivalent issue in 2000, so I don’t think you can just blame on a party difference. Had democrats called on the War on Terror to fail, that would be another thing entirely. The war on terror, the economic crisis….these are issues that we need to win.

In either case, though, “fail” comments are coming from whiny sore losers. In 2000, yes it was a nail-biter and I’m sure that was very sad for the democrats, but it was time to suck it up and deal with it. In 2008, Obama was elected across the board with a pretty broad mandate, and saying you want Obama to fail now signifies being out of touch with what most of America wants. Both the democrats in 2000 and the republicans now who call on a president to fail are trying to live in a reality that doesn’t exist. Grow up.

  3. jason T Says:

52% to 46% is not a broad mandate

  4. SteveP Says:

I want liberal policies to fail. I don’t want government-run health care, or abortion, or gay marriage, or the use of human embryos as lab rats, etc, because those things would be – or are – a disaster.

If those are the things that Obama supports, then I want him to fail.

  5. FredsFighter Says:

    Thank you, Autodidact.

  6. OHIO JOE Says:

So let me get this straight, it is not unpatriotic to want the country to fail as long as Mr. Bush is President, but it is unpatriotic to want Mr. Obama’s policies to fail.

  7. Falz Says:

Why could anyone want the stupid policy Obama and his gang of crooks and liars are putting in effect?

  8. MPC Says:

I’d like Obama to succeed in implementing sound policy with the time he’s been given, even while I think we are capable of much better ourselves.

  9. OHIO JOE Says:

    Well said MPC.

  10. GetReal Says:

Well, Obama’s chosen thus far not to implement sound policy. Do you want him to succeed in implementing the policies he has instead chosen to implement?

  11. Michael Bindner Says:

I am quite happy that Dick Cheney’s plans for a new Imperial Presidency
with the attendent loss of civil liberty failed and failed miserably.

  12. JayPe Says:

Oh dear. Partisanship is alive and well.

You get the impression that Obama knows that Bush only had 2001 and 2002 to do anything (he got 2003 thanks to 9/11), after that the partisan myopia of Washington kicks in. That’s why he’s been so full on the last couple of months.

History repeats, with the D’s & R’s reversed. Its a shame, but that’s how it works, and will do until better government arrives.

  13. Heath Says:

Bush had the whole WORLD behind him after 9/11 and somehow managed to lose it all in 3/4 years.

  14. OHIO JOE Says:

“Bush had the whole WORLD behind him after 9/11″ Not true by any mean!

  16. Rick Says:

Bush’s policies failed, so it doesn’t make a difference now, does it?

  17. Rick Says:

Bush’s policies failed, so it doesn’t matter now, does it. Fact is, Democrats wanted a new direction, while Republicans in Congress and around the country stood with the President as the country became increasingly hated abroad and our domestic policies failed. Now we as a nation are in the dire straits and Limbaugh wants him to fail? By extension he wants this country to fail as Democrats are in control, not Republicans. Republicans MUST abandon Limbaugh otherwise the Democrats will wrap Limbaugh around the GOP necks come 2010.

  18. OHIO JOE Says:

Only now we are hated and disrespected, thanks for the change. Haha.
