Good news out Michigan today, as a new poll of the 2010 governor’s race shows all potential Republican contenders matching-up quite well against the Democratic frontrunner, Lt. Gov. John Cherry.
For the Republicans, the poll included Oakland County Executive Brooks Patterson, Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Attorney General Mike Cox, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, and State Senator Tom George (see the Official release for the Democratic Primary and full general election results):

Stimulus is only polling at 52% in Michigan, behind what Obama got in the state.

Michigan doesn’t deserve GOP governors. It needs to rot in hell for re-lecting Tw@tholm. Michiganders – everybody’s retarded cousin.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Same holds true for actually winning the governor’s race in NJ.

The biggest problem with this poll is that Cherry is not the front-runner at all and I would be surprised if he gets the nomination. I live in Michigan, and trust me, Cherry is not one of the most popular democrats. Ficano is much more popular.

For his name alone, Mike Cox deserves to be nominated.
Girl: Who are you voting for MI governor?
Me: Mike Cox

Is Granholm term-limited?

Right: That’s filthy, disgusting, and beneath the standards of this website.
I’d like to see people who use such terms banned.

#3 – Yeah, I’m with you on that on. Michigan is the new New Jersey – perpetual GOP fool’s gold.
#7 – True… but the woman is so appalling. But if someone is going to be that profane, I’d prefer it be a little more clever. Rhyming, at the very least.

#5 is a waste of space on this website.
MI has been strongly Dem in recent years, as shown by re-electing one of the poorer Governors in the country. Surprised Cox wasn’t polling higher in the primary.
Given the preponderance of Dem Governors in that region of the country (MN one of the few hold outs, with Iowa through to PA being Dem) it would be nice for the GOP to regain a toe-hold in the region.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Ted Nugent is mulling a run?
