In an interview with the CBC, Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano incorrectly stated that the 9/11 hijackers entered the United States across the Canadian border, not realizing they had entered through domestic airports, prior to receiving training in the United States.
Napolitano: Terrorists have entered our country across a border, it’s been across the Canadian border.
CBC: Are you talking about the 9/11 perpetrators?”
Napolitano: “Not just those but others as well.”
This lack of understand of the origins of the 9/11 attacks is beyond frightening.
Two of the visas were issued in Berlin, two were issued in the United Arab Emirates, with the rest
being issued in Saudi Arabia, with many of the terrorists leaving for the United States directly from their training sites in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The hijackers tasked with flying the passenger planes, entered the United States in 2000, in order to undertake flight training in San Diego and South Florida (Khalid al-Mihdhar, Nawaf al-Hazmi, Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, Ziad Iarrah and Hani Hanjour) with the remainder (muscle hijackers) arriving in 2001. Prior to 9/11, many of the hijackers were know to INS and Customs officials as they had violated immigration laws, by overstaying their periods of admission or failing to change their visa statuses.
The Department of Homeland Security was formed as a reaction to the 9/11 attacks and is now being led by an individual who lacks the basic understanding of how the attacks were executed. How can we have confidence that this DHS Secretary will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Immigration and Customs officials if she is unaware of the deficiencies in their technology, training, processes and policies?

stopped at the Canadian border. The 9-11 attackers coming through a
domestic airport would be a nice trick. They came in through an international
airport, likely either MSP or IDW.

#6, One Y2K attacker tried to enter through Canada. Canadian officials tracked him and tipped him off to US officials.

All who were left scratching their heads when Obama chose this obedient toady to head Homeland Security now can get a handle on it: a serious appointee, focused upon real terrorist threats (not imaginary, partisan ones i.e. the TEA parties) -like, say, a Rudolph Giuliani- wouldn’t have been a willing collaborator in a sham report trashing US vets for disgraceful political purposes.
Napolitano’s qualification for this job was purely being a liberal Obama sycophant… certainly not any skills, insight, or ability.
Her recent statements on Canadian border security illustrate how incompetent and puzzled she really is- completely lacking the credentials to be in charge of protecting our country from the likes of Al Qaida.
Trouble is, the narcissist Obama needs to be surrounded by mindless drones to confirm his omnipotence and pollyanna world view. But such appointments as Napolitano and Panetta to vital national security posts are a show of weakness that will surely encourage terrorists and other rogue characters who see America as their enemy- no matter how hard Barack tries to schmooze them.
Sadly, anyone who expected The One to place the nation’s practical defense interests above those of his own political security and radical agenda hasn’t really looked at how he got this far in the first place.
