It’s not going to happen. You watch. Electing Democrats in NJ is sort of like when battered women cozy up to the men who abuse them. It’s just a disgusting vicious cycle.

  2. Adam Says:

I am really excited about our shot in VA though.

  3. Aron Goldman Says:

‘Joe the Plumber’ comes to N.J. to support GOP Gov candidate Steve Lonegan

Samuel Wurzelbacher, dubbed “Joe the Plumber” by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) during a presidential debate last year, will come to New Jersey for a rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Lonegan, according to Lonegan’s campaign.

Wurzelbacher is set to appear at Deutscher Club of Clark for the fundraiser on May 5. Wurzelbacher became famous for asking President Obama about taxes during a campaign stop.

Lonegan’s campaign is charging $1,000 for a private meeting with the candidate and Wurzelbacher. General admission is $50.

  4. MWS Says:

Surely this is FPP worthy…… McCain is getting primaries by the founder of the Minutemen:

  5. Tommy Boy Says:

Obama won 57% of the vote in New Jersey on November 4th….and Strategic Vision has his approval rating at 58% in the state. I hope it’s true but I think it’s doubtful given Obama’s national numbers.

Unlike Rasmussen, Strategic Vision polls on multiple days so the chances of a bad sample are supposed to be reduced. I wish Strategic Vision provided its crosstabs.

  6. MWS Says:

    “primaried,” not “primaries.”

not that “primaried” is a real word anyway……….

  7. Kristofer Lorelli Says:

Could we please not mess this up!

The ‘en-jay’ needs to nominate Chris Christie!

  8. Win M. Says:

#1 – Yeah, I’m incredibly dubious about NJ. It’s always GOP fool’s gold. I’m not getting my hopes up anymore.

  9. Alex Knepper Says:

I am officially NOT supporting Steve Lonegan in anything he ever does. ANYONE lending Joe the Plumber more legitimacy must die!!!!

  10. Sean M Says:

I think the GOP will pull it off this time, Corzine is very unpopular.

  11. Sean M Says:

Interesting that despite his low approval rating Corzine still comes out on top of Lonegan.

  12. JayPe Says:

If Lonegan can’t beat Corzine now, then the GOP shouldn’t nominate him.

Aron, as per my previous comment, can you put up the Kansas results? Brownback is a former national candidate

  13. MPC Says:

Lonegan’s basic message is a good one, but it’s draped too much in the “the GOP is full of apostate RINO’s!” rhetoric that it isolates itself. Chris Christie is an excellent opportunity for a revival of Republican government in NJ, and Lonegan is a distraction at best from that. It gets all the worse by adding Joe the Plumber.

All hard-right attacks in the primaries do is force the more traditional conservative to walk an uncomfortable balance between the center and the conservatives to keep the goodwill of both. The majority of them (the Minuteman in Arizona challenging McCain being a prime example) need to just sit down and stop discrediting by extremism their own philosophy.

  14. OHIO JOE Says:

“ANYONE lending Joe the Plumber more legitimacy must die!!!!” At least he does not betray the tax-payer.
