Aron, can you post a front pager on the FL senate race?
The Crist vs Rubio fight has really captured imagination here at race42008, but the latest fundraising results are dire news for Rubio.
Rubio raised $340k over a 2 month period, which is ok except that …
Crist raised $4.2m in a 6 week period.
The guy is a fundraising machine, and The Fix’s commentary on this fundraising total is:
“If Crist raises and spends $15 million on the primary and Rubio raises and spends $2 million (or less), then primary voters will hear the Crist case (a common sense conservative who is right on social issues) a whole heck of a lot more than they will hear Rubio’s case against him.
Add to that the fact that Crist begins the primary far better known statewide than Rubio and you begin to get the sense that this race is over before it ever really started — unless, of course, Rubio can find a way to make a major bounce-back in the next fundraising quarter” http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/senate/crists-bombshell.html
Meanwhile, Rep. Meek raised $1.2m on the Dem side.
Apparently his parents donated $96k to his mistress, which were structured carefully as gifts ($12k instalments over a period of time). RealClearPolitics says: “Right. We are supposed to swallow the idea that eight payments distributed by the parents and crafted carefully as “gifts” to avoid scrutiny and comply with letter of the law and Senate ethics rules are in fact just part of a “pattern of generosity by the Ensign family to the Hamptons and others.”
I would say so. This blog has been fanatical about Rubio. We;ve had front page posts with youtube clips of some of his speeches, posts highlighting prominant Rubio endorsements, and newspaper condemnation of Crist (e.g. St Petersburg the other day).
The money race is news, and like other news on this high profile race, it should be highlighted…
Lets face it, Tommy Boy, if Rubio had raised more than expected, or Crist had underperformed the site would have been all over it. Remember that poll the other day that showed Rubio had jumped from 16 to 21? That made a front page post, with everyone loudly declaring how Rubio would continue to rise as people realised how much more conservative he was than Crist.
This is the sort of thing that late-night comedians can *ahem* grab a hold of and help make Obama the *cough* butt of a lot of jokes.
There is nothing wrong with being made to be more human, but it flies against the image of Obama, the Messiah. He now becomes Obama, the mere Mortal — someone you need not fear. And if there is anything we have learned about Barry in the past year, it is that he doesn’t like to be questioned or doubted.
This guy is going to inflict nothing but embarrassment and pain on this country. Perverts are expensive, we learned that with Clinton. If I sound harsh, I’ve had enough of this crap on my nickel AND everyone I know is laid off. Not funny. I hope Ms. Obama puts that $6,000 handbag to work on Obama’s skull over this one.
Alex, ogling a teenager/young adult in front of the international media AND the president of France, makes you, at a minimum, unable to control your urges. That’s a key feature of being a pervert. You think you’d ever see this out of Sarah Palin?
Ha ha he totally reminds me of when I was a kid in Detroit, this skinny guy ogled some working woman and his 200+ pound wife whacked him in the back of his cranium with her big ol’ purse shouting, “Izzat what you want? Izzat what you want den you jus’ go ‘n get it. GO GET IT!” The poor mope was frozen with fear…
So everyone with Alex on whether this kind of thing is cool for the leader of the entire free world? Doesn’t impress me much, to say the least. I knew the guy was going to be expensive early on, right at that Mussolini speech, I said that out loud. This guy can’t control the ego, there go my tax dollars.
I’ll bet he’ll handle this like he did the non-bow to the Saudi King. “Didn’t happen baby, I swear it!”
Hedonistic. You know, believing that pleasure-seeking is the primary aim of your existence. Pervert- deviates from what is considered right or good, wrong, improper, corrupt or wicked. If you are hedonistic, perversion doesn’t exist for you, as long as the behaviors in question lead, in your mind, to the ultimate goal of personal pleasure.
Doesn’t work on a large scale. Say, in civilized societies for example. So, in sum, the prez is looking pretty low-grade to civilized folks. You know, perverted-like. You can slap each other on the back and say, “Right on big guy” or what-have-you…but honestly, can you respect this?
Not to make a big deal, but it is nowadays. 50% of politicians do this stuff, wasn’t that the polling result? ‘member Sanford’s rambling confession about crossing the line with various women? Here Obama is ogling in public – doesn’t know he’s being observed, photographed, or put on You Tube at any given public moment? He has to wear what’s in his heart out in public? And Obama hangs with Rev. Wright, who has a nasty track record with hustling women himself, Jesse Jackson, these types. I wish for a better standard, greater excellence in our leadership. This is mediocrity, I mean, nothing you can’t watch on cable, but not very ennobling when you see it in a president.
SO ready for someone sharp, and mainstream, and decent.
I mean, what if this were at some White House function and that was Chelsea Clinton? OR maybe Dennis Kucinich’s wife? Can you see why social mores go against this type of aggressive or predatory behavior? What if this were Putin’s daughter, and this picture hits the press? Yet, Prez Clinton was there preying on some California family’s daughter right there in the work place, on taxpayer’s nickel. Then he lied about it and cost us millions more. I was an intern in the Capitol Building. This type of predatory stuff is more rampant than you might imagine, and it should be illegal. You work hard to get your political career off to a start, and some perverted politician can ruin it in an elevator. Either you go along, or your career is ended before it starts. No, the president should be above reproach. Well, ideally everyone should be, but let’s not expect too much here. Yet, Congress is FILLED with perverts. So is the federal court system, I can speak somewhat knowledgeably to that too. If you all want to keep driving decent people and women out of positions of power, wink and nod at this stuff. Ultimately, it does create a hostile environment.
I looked at the image again. It really makes me mad. This kind of explains the Sarah Palin treatment. Women aren’t people, they’re body parts. See? Even the president takes time out from ruling the universe to ogle a body part if it’s worthy of his attention. Unfit for office. David Letterman is a pervert too. Children are fair game. Any undeserving woman, no, strike that: ANY woman is fair game. The moral equivalent to get some empathy out of you guys is if men were just used as sperm donors, then thrown back in the cage. Or sumsuch.
Matter of fact, this is why I’m so crazy about George Bush taking it to Saddam Hussein. Do you know how women are treated in the Middle East? Not good, to say the least. Ogle away you perverts, it’s your loss. Because women are worth much, much more than you will ever understand. And I want them liberated. I am so grateful for this great country, where women are free. And there goes our pop culture prez, acting out his little lusty moment on the international stage for everyone to see. He wants us all in Burqas, anyways, you heard the speech. Good grief, free us people. Register me once again for a HUGE no confidence vote. I’m with you on this one, Michelle, solidarity for a nano-second.
I’d like to hear Obama speak to this. Mr. Obama, why are you ogling a young girls hiney when the economy has gone to @#$! in a handbasket on your watch? Do you get paid to do that? Is that part of your description of official duties? Couldn’t you do that after retirement? Couldn’t you try NOT to embarrass us, say, for 48 hours? Lock yourself in that padded room where you throw Biden during critical moments. Give us an embarrassment-free weekend, as a gift, from you to the American taxpayers who are so generously funding your porkulus. I may end up supporting Sarah Palin as a backlash to this disrespect. Unbelievable.
She’s a 16 year old girl, that bother anyone? More photos are surfacing, apparently prez has a pattern of ogling. One more thing foreign nations can respect about our exciting new Hollywood president. And one more president you don’t want in the same room with your children unchaperoned.
If I seem irate about this, I’m thinking America needs a new role model for what manhood means. Bring back George Bush, he was decent.
Michelle Malkin says she saw the entire video, and that he wasn’t ogling at all. That it was taken out of context. That he was actually helping some other young lady down the stairs. Well, could be. If so, I stand corrected. I hope the obvious isn’t the actual, the one thing I admired about Obama was his image as a decent family man. I say image, because when you are dishonest in other arenas of your life, family fidelity becomes suspect. If he can behave himself from here on, I’ll credit him back some in the decency column.

I’m not surprised that Aron is the guy who posted about Obama’s wandering eyes.

what is going to happen to Ensign?
Apparently his parents donated $96k to his mistress, which were structured carefully as gifts ($12k instalments over a period of time). RealClearPolitics says: “Right. Doesn’t look good for him…

Jay,
Crist raising significantly more money than Rubio is worthy of a front-page post?
July 9th, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Jay,
Polls always get put on the front page. News about individual politicians don’t necessarily get put on the front page.

Hell. Did you see the woman? I’d look too. Let’s just say she’s got more attractive attributes than Michelle.
July 9th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
Gosh! Our POTUS spends a few hours with Silvio and he goes off the reservation.
July 9th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
It would have been funnier though if we caught Obama looking at Berlusconi that intently.
July 9th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
#12,
You are right. One look is permitted. It proves you are a man. Any more than that, however, can get you into a whole heap of trouble. Just as Sanford.
The photo sure makes it appear like he is taking more than one little look, however.
July 9th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Ehh. I hate Obama’s guts. But I give him a pass on this. Unless or until we find out he’s running around on Michelle, at least.

No, we wouldn’t see it out of Sarah Palin ’cause she’s a woman.
Guys like girl booty. Well, straight guys, anyway.
I don’t really even believe that there are “perverts.” My sexual ideology is quite, uh, well, I suppose you’d use the word “libertine.”
