I have just been informed that Facebook has shut down the most successful conservative group in its sphere- Positively Republican!.
Positively Republican!’s Facebook page has over 120,000 fans. Its founder, Chris Widener, has worked tirelessly and invested a tremendous amount of energy and resources into building what has become the largest conservative group on the world’s biggest social networking utility.
No explanation has been given–and apparently none is forthcoming. Some officers of Positively Republican! are at a loss as to the sudden move on the part of Facebook as they have been conducting the group in the same manner for months on end.
So this question remains: why did Facebook shut down Positively Republican!? Might it have something to do with their politics? Is Facebook becoming a utility for liberals only?
I will have more on this story as it develops.

Is Facebook the one for all the teenage sluts, or is that MySpace?

Gross… Wouldn’t you like to know..

Oh chill out. I just know that one has a reputation of being hookup central and has people on it showing off all kinds of risque pictures. If this is the one that boycotts conservative groups it seems kinda hypocritical.
Jesus.

I thought #5 was funny.

I never understood the need to blog about one’s personal life or to put compromising pictures on the internet. That can only come back to haunt you. I knew a guy in college that later applied for a job at a television news station and when he went in for the interview, the news director showed him pictures of himself from a frat party a couple of years earlier and completely trashed.
Maybe I am a 28-year old luddite but the whole idea of it just seems stupid to me.

I’m sceptical of a great left wing conspiracy here. Facebook is a company wanting to make money, and hacking off a large chunk of your audience is not a smart move.

Exactly #12. This type of paranoia doesn’t help our cause any.

Facebook is almost as bad, it’s just a little more private. Full of married women posting risque pics and acting like single teenage girls, basically. While their bewildered husbands stumble onto these sites and try to figure out what the hell went wrong with their wives. Facebook and Myspace are the most pervasive enablers of idiotic and phoney behavior on the face of the planet.

Michael, Facebook is indeed at the center of a vast left-wing conspiracy to destroy conservativism as we know it. This is directly due to Obama’s connections with communist Martian communities, and the fact that Joe Biden is actually a reincarnated Adolf Hitler.

13, “our” cause?
14. I agree. Facebook is the place where women go to re-live high school.

Only women?? Give me a break!
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Martha doesn’t seem to like women for some reason. I just don’t get where she’s coming from.

Ha #15, I don’t think we think that Obama and Biden are Hitler or aliens. Just dumbasses, like you.
