Erick:
Which of the following four Marco Rubio actions would you consider the most conservative and anti-establishment?
A) Obtaining tens of millions of dollars of pork barrel grants for his constituency, including 50k for an Orchid convention;
or
B) The decision to block Republican House bills, 73, 159, 571, 577, and 821, that would have prevented the growing rate of illegal immigration in Florida;
or
C) Spending $2 million more on salaries and hiring 20 people more than the previous Speaker of the legislature;
or
D) During the freedom rallies in Iran and upon the murder of young Neda, Rubio’s crafted response on Twitter was; ‘I have a feeling the situation in Iran would be a little different if they had a 2nd amendment like ours.” ?

You’re just asking to be crucified by the right.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Not sure if “D” fits in to what you are trying to convey here Kris. It was more of a glib comment than anything.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Kristofer, take your garbage like this somewhere else. If you want to write a smart opinion piece than do that but your gimmicky multi-choice post on a respectable blog is classless.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Yeah, ditto Kavon.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
That Rubio, what a loser for not backing anti-immigrant-inspired legislation against illegals in a state where our party does very good among immigrants.
The biggest losing issue for conservatives, hands down, is crying about what a big problem illegal immigrants are. Nothing else screams “Know-Nothing minority party” quite like that.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
These questionable aspects of Rubio’s record pale in comparison to Crist’s mistakes – Citizens Property, stumping for the stimulus and advocating a cap-and-trade plan for the state, to name a few.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
A) His GOP opposition, Gov Crist, is no better
B) Most voters don’t care, so it won’t be an issue in the ‘10 primary or ‘10 general elections
C) See A
D) This is bad…why, exactly? It’s a great point.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
Kris, why don’t you just admit the reason you support Gov Crist is because you think it will be cheaper and easier for the GOP to retain the seat with him than it would be with Rubio?
November 9th, 2009 at 11:13 pm
Kris,
A lot of your criticism of Rubio, also apply to Palin. It’s kind of weird.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:18 pm
Palin was a softie on immigration, was she not?
November 9th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
I don’t think I understood what you meant, David Schmidt.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Kris,
That’s not really fair, as David despite what he may think about Romney has left it off the front page here. He certainly hasn’t tried to throw cheap shots at him.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Man…YOU GUYS are starting to get on my nerves! LOL! I think we’re fighting about something that will have very little effect on ANYTHING. Rubio will most likely win the primary, and this kind of garbage is only going to provide ammunition for his oppontent in the general. As for me, i’m concentrating on helping Jane Norton get elected to the Senate here in Colorado. A much better way to waste my time and resources.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
There are two people in the race. Neither is perfectly conservative but one is clearly much, much more conservative than the other. THAT is the bottom line.
Your guy is indefensible so you attack the other guy without addressing the issues Crist faces with the base. Ask Corzine how well that strategy works.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
I meant glib on the part of Rubio, of course.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:55 pm
wateredseeds,
We argue on here and mash out our differences. It’s an educational experience for politically-active Republicans.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Kris,
Dang, you’re starting to do some serious oppo research on Rubio. That’s the kind of crap that only an opponent’s campaign or an ex-father-in-law would dig up and make a big deal out of.
BTW, did you know that Dr. Pure (Ron Paul) even brings home the bacon? And not some stupid 50k for an orchid convention, but he brings millions. You gonna’ lambast Paul for his lack of fiscal purity, and toss him out as a heretic when it comes to budgets?
At any rate, your anti-Rubio posts seem to be striking out with the home team. You seem to be grasping at straws, or pointing out venial sins in areas where Crist’s are mortal.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:28 am
Kris,
But the part that seems to have us all befuddled is why of the two candidates, you would choose to excoriate Rubio as the heretic?
November 10th, 2009 at 12:37 am
Honestly, Rubio is radio-active…he won’t win in a general election even in a good year and frankly Crist is conservative, just not as conservative as Rubio. I say elect Crist and that’s it. Just because he hugged Obama doesn’t mean much.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:43 am
Mike,
How is Rubio “radioactive?” I’m starting to wonder if you work for Crist or his campaign. It’s the only thing I can recall you commenting on. Apologies if that’s not the case.
And how could any center-right Republican (short of being caught with the dead girl or live boy) lose to Meeks in Florida?
November 10th, 2009 at 12:44 am
Mike,
Or by “radio-active” do you mean he’s running a lot of ads on the radio, doing on air interviews, that sort of thing?
November 10th, 2009 at 1:07 am
Kristofer, your backing the fading front runner instead of the fast closing thoroughbred, my friend.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:14 am
22 – I know…I should have gotten on the Hoffman bandwagon.
I’ll learn.
November 10th, 2009 at 2:33 am
Actually, MWS…is the first time I’ve commented on it and I’m not so much in favor of Crist as I just think he has a clearer shot at winning and god knows, we need to hold this seat.
Rubio seems like a great guy, great candidate, great speaker; but I question even against Meeks, if he would have a shot.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Mike,
Thanks for the clarification.
