Cox has been suffering a little from his work investigating a scandal involving the [former] mayor of Detroit.
Its difficult to tell exactly who would be the best man for the job – Cox is in the traditional step-stone position for Governor in Michigan, although Hoekstra has policy experience, although he also does the least to enrich the field for national office for the GOP.

Hoekstra is the best campaigner out of all of them and he’s also the candidate I like the most. However, it is always tough to win a state-wide election in Michigan when you aren’t from the east side.
I’m not surprised that Pete is winning, but I am surprised that Bouchard isn’t beating Cox. Bouchard’s made the biggest move of the race so far by getting Terri Lynn Land to commit to being his running mate this early in the game. People may remember Bouchard’s pitiful run against Stabenow in 2006…
